Journalist Claims Magpie Set To Remain At Newcastle

DeAndre Yedlin made the bench for Sunday’s draw at Tottenham for the first time in the Premier League this season. He has also started both of our Carabao Cup wins.

Despite being firmly behind Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth in the pecking order, Yedlin has still played a part for Newcastle. Though he’s also one of the first names mentioned when talk of outgoings arise.

There has been intense interest from Turkish club Besiktas as well as some links back to the MLS. The Athletic’s Chris Waugh reported last week that Yedlin wanted a move and Newcastle were looking to sell.

However, the stars have not lined up for a move for the American this summer. The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio is now reporting that Yedlin could remain at Newcastle to see out his contract.

Steve Bruce recently stated that it was unhealthy to have three right-backs on the books. He added that Yedlin has done nothing wrong but is just third-choice right now. However, the 27-year-old has come in handy early this season with Bruce heavily rotating his squad for the FA Cup.

The transfer window is winding down and Newcastle have a lot of work left to be done, especially in trimming the squad. Henri Saivet, Rolando Aarons, and Achraf Lazaar all need to find new clubs or they’ll be stuck on Newcastle’s books without being part of the squad.

Like Yedlin, those three are in the final year of their contracts. Yedlin, though, would make the team but his squad place could prevent another versatile defender from being brought in.

Done an excellent job in the championship and keeping us up and deserves a very good send off but should have gone two years ago and a quality replacement brought in, instead we got Emile Krafth because he was cheaper than left back Nsoki?

I don’t it was actually him who gave or sorted our the contract but your spot on about the fact he guarantees him a game will of went a long way.

When he signed new contract was it a reduced wage? I didn’t look into the details at the time

Kraft is better than Yedlin but I guess with the games coming thick and fast, keeping Yedlin for the season makes sense.

Hope we get another 2 or 3 in though

So Yedlin taking up a squad space when Bruce doesn’t want him and he wants to leave?

Look forward to him filling in every so often till the end of the season when he goes away for nothing
