DeAndre Yedlin made the bench for Sunday’s draw at Tottenham for the first time in the Premier League this season. He has also started both of our Carabao Cup wins.
Despite being firmly behind Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth in the pecking order, Yedlin has still played a part for Newcastle. Though he’s also one of the first names mentioned when talk of outgoings arise.
There has been intense interest from Turkish club Besiktas as well as some links back to the MLS. The Athletic’s Chris Waugh reported last week that Yedlin wanted a move and Newcastle were looking to sell.
However, the stars have not lined up for a move for the American this summer. The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio is now reporting that Yedlin could remain at Newcastle to see out his contract.

Steve Bruce recently stated that it was unhealthy to have three right-backs on the books. He added that Yedlin has done nothing wrong but is just third-choice right now. However, the 27-year-old has come in handy early this season with Bruce heavily rotating his squad for the FA Cup.
The transfer window is winding down and Newcastle have a lot of work left to be done, especially in trimming the squad. Henri Saivet, Rolando Aarons, and Achraf Lazaar all need to find new clubs or they’ll be stuck on Newcastle’s books without being part of the squad.
Like Yedlin, those three are in the final year of their contracts. Yedlin, though, would make the team but his squad place could prevent another versatile defender from being brought in.
