Newcastle Likely To Sign Talented Center Back This Week

Newcastle will have Rodrigo Vilca at Newcastle on Thursday when i’s expected that Newcastle will sign up the 21-year-old Peruvian playmaker.

And news in the Chronicle today that Newcastle could have second deal lined up for this week.

South African born defender Bradley Cross has been in talks with the club, and he is a free agent who was at Schalke in Germany.

The 19-year-old joined Schalke 04 two years ago from South Africa club Bidvest Wits.

He is now a free agent and the right footed defender has had a trial period with Newcastle.

Newcastle likely to sign 19-year-old South African Bradley Cross

The 19 year-old has been attracting attention for his good displays in Germany, and he has played for the South Africa U19 side.

So we could see both Vilca and Cross signed before the summer transfer window ends on October 5th.

We have lots of center-backs, but most are in their late 20s and early 30s, and Bruce is looking to the future if he signs the  6ft tall Cross, which now looks likely.

The defender will likely be part of the U23 set-up.

But he can play for Newcastle in the Premier League, without being part of the official 25 man group,  since he’s under 21.

Cross has a UK passport as well as a South African passport, so there should be no problems in having the lad sign for Newcastle.

This could be a good signing for Newcastle, for the future.

And Steve Bruce has a good record of signing on good young players.

Was it Palace RLC went last time. Chelsea want him off their books so I doubt they’ll send him to us, they’ll want him to go somewhere that might actually want to buy him if he’s a success.

Hoping we sign that young French striker we were linked with. Need a few who can step into three first team. Big gap between 1st team strikers and Sorensen it seems.

I’m hoping they can find that safe that the £35M we were going to pay for Soumare and go back with improved personal terms.

All about opinions they played football and should have won easily didn’t take chances and I know who was manager last season. The point I was making was how quickly he changed there system to possession football

Dr Ed, I’m not sure that this lad would get a free squad place – I think that only applies to Home Grown players, ie players that have spent a certain amount of time in the English / UK Academy system.

As this kid grew up in South Africa and joined a German Academy, I don’t think he will qualify as Home Grown, despite his age and British Passport.

However, his Passport does mean we don’t need to worry about a work permit for him, which would otherwise have been an issue.

    Nufc 4ever,
Pretty much in one preseason as well. I got a bit of grief for pointing that out last year as they finished up overall pretty much the same as the season before. But you have to look at the bigger picture and see what that work has achieved, as I said they will not be facing Chelsea and Man U every week. Comparing CH and GP on one season is the same as comparing KK and KD on the strength of him finishing second that season after KK left as he achieved it with the formers team. When he got his own hands on it the rest they say is history. That’s why Munters constant comparison of two of our more recent managers over one season is pointless, the bigger picture will unfold once a manager has had time to put his own stamp on the team.

FFS Villa have signed Ross Barkley now. We’re getting left behind again having beaten them for Wilson which was encouraging. They are gonna be the next Wolves at this rate! Probably the John Terry connection at Chelsea did it!
It’s very depressing that we’ve got a dinosaur manager and no sign of another striker that we badly need and a no.10.
I watched the Spurs game again having recorded it! Omg we are diabolical; could easily have lost that 6-0 !
    Worrying times! #takeoversoonplease!

Underwhelmed again. Don’t want to be harsh on these youngsters. i wish them well. But if Vilca needs building up, this Cross kid at just 6 foot is going to be just a skittle playing at centre half. Whatever has happened to the Willems deal and please sign a box-to-box midfielder if only so I can remember what one looks like. I was hoping Matty Longstocking would perform that role but he must be hiding in the kit-man’s laundry basket?

Inability to move players on costing us I suppose. Still time to make room for a few loans in

Origi, RLC and Rugani would be my ideal end to the window…I dont hold too much hope like

Not being funny, but Ross Barkely has never kicked on since he was a teenager at Everton. I would be highly dubious of him coming here and will be mildly suprised to see him have a massive impact at Villa.

I may be proved wrong, of course.

Move Shelvey??? He’s been given a deal to take him in to retirement ffs, we’ve got no chance of moving him on.

Ross Barkley is a great signing for them. We should have signed him. Big mistake. Need reinforcements immediately otherwise we could go down. Been linked with Omar Colley. Signing him would be a start with the following coming in:

    Willems – Loan
    Soumare – £35m/Ibrahima Sissoko – £10m
    Shaqiri – Loan
    Wylan Cyprien – £9.2m
    Allasane Plea – ~ £25m

We’re getting left behind. Got a feeling that we won’t sign anymore first team players.

“Driven by hunger, a fox tried to reach some grapes hanging high on the vine but was unable to, although he leaped with all his strength. As he went away, the fox remarked: ‘Oh, you aren’t even ripe yet! I don’t need any sour grapes.'”

Shelvey has been good for us, but we need a chance. Let him go to West Ham and get the above in. Get rid of Hayden too.

Jail, I think Shelvey would benefit playing NFL, when there’s a different team for attacking and defending. As he doesn’t do either very slowly
