There are once again rumblings about the Amanda Staveley takeover possibly moving ahead, behind the scenes.
There are at least two reasons we think this can be happening, although how long it will take to successfully complete we have no idea.
- The Premier League have held the deal in abeyance (it’s never been formally rejected) and they must be forced to make a decision on the takeover and show some backbone.
We need to know why exactly why they have turned it down (if they do) and how the rejection is based on their current owners’ and directors’ test.
And that reasoning is likely to be very flimsy if legally challenged in court.
- Mike Ashley has done the right thing (yes – for once) and hired two world-class QCs to try to push the deal through.
They will take legal action via the courts if that proves necessary, and we don’t think the Premier League will want to do that, and could strike a deal with the lawyers to avoid being dragged into court.
But even if they are willing to go to court, the Lawyers representing Newcastle seem to have a strong case against the Premier League – that they should have approved the deal.
So this is the reasoning we have taken, whether there have been reports from other sources or not.
Ms. Amanda Staveley – the force behind the takeover
As the first tweet – MadMag hits the nail on the head – some of us are hoping and praying it will still happen.
We may be stupid and daft – but give us a break – we live in hope.
Hate seeing fans arguing about the takeover, if some fans believe it’s back on, let them believe that & if others are skeptical then that’s fine also. Most of us want it to happen so hopefully they can get it done in the background but let’s stick together! #NUFC #nufctakeover

And another one.
I’m staying quiet on the takeover, I’ve always remained positive that it will happen eventually.. if you don’t then that’s fair enough but don’t criticize people for wanting hope #nufc

Regarding our potential Saudi consortium takeover I’ve always remained positive that it will eventually. For those fans that don’t then that’s fair enough but don’t criticise people for wanting hope. #NUFC #NUFCTakeover @PIF_en @jamiereuben @ghodoussi pic.twitter.com/Fq3W13EXC1

Luke Edwards believes takeover talk will be made public again before Christmas. Says there is still a chance it goes through but warns fans to not get the cans out until it is (and IF) officially announced by all sides. PIF are still at the table. #NUFC #NUFCtakeover

#PremierLeagueIsCorrupt @premierleague Richard Masters has called for “consistency” from the Government Masters said sport must be treated fairly There’s a frustration that there is that inconsistency .
