Staveley Takeover Resurfacing – Newcastle Fans Have Their Say

There are once again rumblings about the Amanda Staveley takeover possibly moving ahead, behind the scenes.

There are at least two reasons we think this can be happening, although how long it will take to successfully complete we have no idea.

  1. The Premier League have held the deal in abeyance (it’s never been formally rejected)  and they must be forced to make a decision on the takeover and show some backbone.
We need to know why exactly why they have turned it down (if they do) and how the rejection is based on their current owners’ and directors’ test.
And that reasoning is likely to be very flimsy if legally challenged in court.
  2.  Mike Ashley has done the right thing (yes – for once) and hired two world-class QCs to try to push the deal through.
They will take legal action via the courts if that proves necessary, and we don’t think the Premier League will want to do that, and could strike a deal with the lawyers to avoid being dragged into court.
But even if they are willing to go to court, the Lawyers representing Newcastle seem to have a strong case against the Premier League – that they should have approved the deal.

So this is the reasoning we have taken, whether there have been reports from other sources or not.

Ms. Amanda Staveley – the force behind the takeover

As the first tweet – MadMag hits the nail on the head – some of us are hoping and praying it will still happen.

We may be stupid and daft – but give us a break – we live in hope.

And another one.

Well – this didn’t happen!

agree mate let common sense be the rule of thumb, this lad hits the nail on the head,
Hate seeing fans arguing about the takeover, if some fans believe it’s back on, let them believe that & if others are sceptical then that’s fine also. Most of us want it to happen so hopefully they can get it done in the background but let’s stick together! #NUFC #nufctakeover”

Premier League and TV broadcasters are encouraging people to go to friends houses and chip in to watch the game. So much for looking after people’s lives. A bit drastic but supporters will do anything to see the game

I’ve just read the article about PL showing games on Pay per View TV. I’m absolutely disgusted – I already pay nearly £200 per month for Sky, BT and Season Tickets. I’ve always tried to stay legal but this will drive me to look for pirate transmissions – surely ST holders should get a free pass for home games shown on Pay per View?

The correct series of events would be for the EPL to make a decision and if they state one of the entities meets one of the disqualifying conditions they can appeal the decision. Neither event has happened yet.

The problem is we don’t know what Ashley’s legal team are trying to do. Is he trying to push a deal through or just trying to get his pound of flesh from the EPL by way of a compensation payment.

The other thing is the PIF stated the acquisition of the club was no longer a viable proposition given the current state of the world. Are they even interested in still buying the club?

Its always been a safe bet to believe the turd will do anything to make money from us
He might want people to believe he is acting in the fans best interests but history has shown he is a fat ,greedy lying c7n7

Re the PPV. These people must be in their own bubble. How could they think that £15 for a run of the mill PL game with no atmosphere is acceptable?

Davas, I’d pay 15 nuggets for Keegan football, but tbh they’d have to pay me to watch bruceball.

And that’s the way it stays until I see an actual plan A and plan B game plan.

I was so disappointed in the past when “The Takeover” did not come about.

So I’m not holding my breath this time but…….

There’s no doubt at all I’ll be over the moon, along with many thousands of other Toon fans, if & when there’s an announcement to confirm that it’s finally happened!

there’s absolutely no evidence that “there are once again rumblings about the Amanda Staveley takeover possibly moving ahead, behind the scenes”

In fact the silence from the PIF is deafening, what takeover is there without them?

I assume the lawyers are gonna force the EPL into a decision on this, if as reported the consortium claim the application is complete.

I think if PIF are still at the table, and probably yes they are, they’ll get the club on appeal, as was the case with Southampton, which also took a while to resolve.

FFS boys – let it go.

There’s no decision to be made because the Saudis pulled out of the deal.
How can the FA be forced to make a decision on the Saudis taking over when the Saudis don’t want to take over?

    It’s not Rocket Surgery.
