Michael Owen has given his prediction for the game on Saturday at home to Manchester United – it’s a 1-1 draw.
He has played for both clubs in his career, and he says he thinks the game will end up as a 1-1 draw.
We’d be fairly happy if that happens.
The Red Devils defense is just awful, and they look so out of sorts this season, so our lads may be able to score some goals on Saturday.
On the other hand, the Red Devils do have some very good (and expensive) forwards, who can almost score at will.
So our defense must be at its very best at St. James’ Park for us to take something out of the game.
Goalkeeper Karl Darlow will be getting an extended stay in the first team, with Martin Dubravka having a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury, and he must be at his best tomorrow.
If we play as well as we did against Burnley, in the 3-1 win last time out, we could even win this fixture, for the second season running.
Here’s what Michael (shown above) has written in BetVictor today about the game:
“Newcastle will be more than happy with their start to their campaign.”
“A 3-1 victory at home to Burnley was a solid enough performance, and I think the Magpies will quietly fancy their chances here.”
“United come into this in disarray. The result against Tottenham won’t be forgotten quickly and I think it may take a few weeks yet for United to find their feet.”
“I’m going for a draw.”
We’d be happy with a draw, but we think, in the right frame of mind and with our players on song this Saturday in the late kickoff game, we can even win this game.
And in the early voting, the majority of Newcastle fans think we can win this game.
Howay The Lads!!
What do you think?

Comment #43Bills son is back, good points you make there about owen Bill, to be honest a lot of fans would prefer a fit owen in the newcastle team as opposed to Joelinton.

Comment #44Jane how can you say you love this club but then say you think Owen is nice??
Let’s say he never came here so we don’t have any bad blood, he is still the most boring person I’ve ever had to listen to. He has no craic no banter nothing.
Or was that a a bait?

Wor lass is nowt but a piece of geordie vernacular, dialect.
Check the link and find ‘W’, it might help you see where it’s come from and how it’s used.

I’d question the link’s suggested pronunciation of ‘wor’. It’s pronounced as you would ‘war’ not ‘wuh’. ‘Wuh’ would be used to mean ‘us’. ‘Wih’ would be used instead of ‘with’ as in are yi cummin wih wuh – are you coming with us.
But, like all dialect, it’s not cast in stone.

Comment #54Compare him to Tino, Sir Les, Andy/Andrew, that guy who creosotes his fence and quite a few others. No where near.

Comment #55“Newcastle will be more than happy with their start to their campaign.” SAYS OWEN.
I AM happy with the points and league position.
But only 2 games of merit and a few lucky scrapes and one thrashing. Would be happy on a pro rata basis to get 7 pts from every 4 games would see us finish on 63 pts and maybe a euro spot. But I would not be happy with the standard of performances continuing. Hopefully improvements on the way. Starting Saturday. Predict 2-1 win. CAC
