Steve Bruce has given his press conference ahead of Saturday’s match against Manchester United. With today being the close of the domestic transfer window, Bruce was asked about some of the players who would not make his squad.
It’s not very good news for Newcastle, nor the four we suspect will not play a part this season. Bruce said the following as tweeted by The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder about finding new clubs for Rolando Aarons, Christian Atsu, Achraf Lazaar, and Henri Saivet.
Steve Bruce on deadline day outgoings: “The phone has to ring for them. I am sure they are as disappointed we can’t get them fixed up because they need to move on with their careers. No takers yet though.” #nufc

So this is very disappointing news and could have implications for who Newcastle bring in in January. Though, there is reportedly money for transfers should Bruce need it.
However, the four players mentioned above are costing Newcastle around £100k/week. Thankfully, they are all in the final year of their contracts but it’s looking like all four are going to remain with Newcastle until January.
There were reports of Championship clubs interested in Aarons and Atsu. From what Bruce says that may no longer be the case. Once again, the club will have excess members not part of the 25-man squad. Though it could actually increase from three last season to now four.
