Newcastle Collapse Late And Lose 4-1 to Manchester United

Newcastle were able to hold on until late despite the Red Devils being the superior side at St James Park. However, three late goals from Manchester United resign Newcastle to defeat despite the heroics of Karl Darlow.

Newcastle came out unchanged after holding on to end the first half all square. However, Isaac Hayden lasted all of two minutes before going down with an apparent muscle injury. Bruce brought Fabian Schar on for Isaac.

Newcastle almost got another lead in the 50th minute. After some superb work by Allan Saint-Maximin down the left, he flicked in a cross from deep inside the box that Callum Wilson’s outstretched foot tapped towards goal. David de Gea made a spectacular diving save to keep the ball out.

Five minutes later, Marcus Rashford seemed to lose possession after driving into the box, but VAR did a belated review and recommended referee Craig Pawson take a look. It was a questionable reversal by Pawson as he awarded the penalty for a foul by Jamal Lewis.

However, super Karl Darlow righted the wrong with an outstanding save on the subsequent spot-kick by Bruno Fernandes. Darlow guessed correctly and dove right to swat the ball away and keep the game level.

Jonjo Shelvey had a blistering effort saved by de Gea after finding space just outside the box in the 69th minute. De Gea again was forced into a diving save as Newcastle started to ask more questions of Manchester United.

Bruce made his second change bringing Ryan Fraser on for Joelinton in the 72nd minute. Karl Darlow also needed treatment from an earlier collision with Marcus Rashford. The 30-year-old was visibly uncomfortable with an apparent groin problem.

Manchester United were lethal on a late break in the 86th minute and snatched the lead through Bruno Fernandes. Substitute Donny van de Beek won the ball deep and played Rashford on the break. The striker found an overlapping Fernandes on the left and he blasted a close shot past a helpless Karl Darlow.

Bruce immediately pulled Jeff Hendrick for Miguel Almiron but it was Manchester United who would find the next goal. Aaron Wan-Bissaka got his first Manchester United goal with a cracking shot from inside the box that Darlow could do nothing about.

The visitors added another with a long ball that freed Marcus Rashford for a one on one with Darlow. The striker’s shot got under Darlow to pile on the misery at St James Park.

I don’t know why anyone would be surprised at tonight’s result and performance,it’s just the normal dross served up at the parasites relegation circus. Its basically a championship standard squad full of freebies and chancers with the worst Premier League manager in history in the dugout.Im just glad that 52000 sheep weren’t in there to support Sports Direct FC and help the corrupt Sky and Premier League reap the benefits. This blind loyalty has enabled the shambles to continue for 13 years and it stinks to high heaven.

I agree about Joelinton left, right ,behind, upfront, useless in every position and yet he hasn’t missed a league game.42 games 2 goals ffs.Must be the worst stats for a Newcastle forward ever.He never even had a shot,or creates anything, just a target so we can lump the ball.Hendrick,a right winger?Fraserburgh was good for Scotland, whist,Hendrick was awful for Ireland. Schar on as sub for Hayden, was awful in midfield, last season. Bruce is utterly clueless. Lost the game before it started.

Ed, for who was Newcastle’s best player can you put Steve Bruce on the list, I know Man U equivalent blog will add him for the team he chose, actually just view he’s winning with 87%.

OGS, after their last game before the break, must have lit a fire under his team. Did they play great, not really, but kept trying. I know they could bring multi million pound players off the bench, too.

We don’t have that luxury, so I was hoping Bruce could light a fire under us, since ManUre took a tonking last time out.
    LIGHT A FIRE????!!!
Bruce doesn’t even know how a match works!!! So frustrated.

Bruce won’t be gone unless he walks.

He was brought in as a cheap caretaker to look after things till the or a takeover’s completed and so it will be – as long as long as Ashley’s got a potential buyer to talk to.

If we was seriously thinking of pushing up the table, tonight was a great opportunity to challenge a poor Man U team with low confidence. Sadly the job of Bruce is to ensure we stay in the division which I do think he will do. Sadly as a Toon fan we want and desire so much more than hovering over the relegation zone, season after season. Fab display from Darlow today, deserved that new deal. Wil somebody with a inch of wanting to win something and funds please take us over before the top 6 keep Ashley and ancestors in till they die.

How are these guys sitting without a club to manage. It doesn’t matter who Newcastle are and owned by, put enough money on the table and like the one who cannot be named, they will come.
Mauricio Pochettino, Max Allegri, Laurent Blanc, Niko Kovac, Marcelino, Quique Setien, Marco Silva, Santiago Solari and Luciano Spalletti.

Joel was undeniably poor today, however Wilson and St Max weren’t great either. You can’t expect much from your attack, when you sit back in defense, and your midfield can’t get on the ball.

4123 isn’t a bad shape, but if you are gonna set up like that you’ve gotta play a bit further up the pitch and no matter what way you set up you’ve gotta shut them down, get tackles in and win the loose ball in midfield.

Ashley appointed Bruce to keep us in the top 17 that was his remit, cheap and cheerful, and as Bruce knows he would never in a million years get a job at another premier league club he will never rock the boat or give fat Mike any problems, unfortunately we are stuck with these two losers until our club is sold, please please let it be soon, life is tough enough for everyone at the moment with the covid virus, we need rid of the Ashley virus also as soon as possible fellow toon fans. The only excuse for Bruce could be that more of the players are injured than he lets on.
There can be no other excuse for playing Joelinton!
He is the worst player at this level that I have ever had the misfortune to see.

To the guy who basically said Saint Max is no ginola because he would beat 3 or 4 players then either score or put it on someone’s head, erm he did that and scored against Burnley and today he did the other one and put it on a plate for Wilson
