Bruce Confirms Two Injury Scares After Manchester United Defeat

Steve Bruce has spoken after tonight’s poor 4-1 defeat against Manchester United. Bruce has confirmed that both Isaac Hayden and Karl Darlow have suffered injuries.

Hayden has suffered a hamstring injury which actually occurred in the first half. He came out to start the second but only lasted a couple of minutes. Here is what Bruce said about Isaac’s injury per Newcastle’s Twitter page:

“Unfortunately he nicked a hamstring in the first half, just before half-time. We thought he was going to be OK for the second but obviously, he wasn’t.”

As is the case with performances, it’s one step forward and two steps back with injuries. Just when it looked like we had turned a corner, it’s another injury to a key player. But the bigger worry could be with Karl Darlow.

Darlow was brave and put in a tremendous performance once again. However, he suffered what looked like a groin injury after a collision with Marcus Rashford. Karl stayed in the game but now faces a scan to see the extent of his injury.

This is the update Bruce provided for our in-form keeper:

“He took a hell of a blow. We hope that he’s not too bad. Until we see the scans we won’t know how it is but he’s very sore.”

It could be a serious problem if Darlow faces any time on the sidelines with Martin Dubravka out until December. That would hand first-team duties to Mark Gillespie and young Dan Langley would move into the matchday squad as the back-up.

    Hannibal

Matty always seems to have a good game against Manu
If you wanted to win youd play him

That seems like it wasnt the plan

    WL,

Apologies bud, the Carling has taken charge!

Ashley knows the score, that empathy lasted so long then he had to give away 10000 tickets. Then apathy raised it’s ugly head as it does.

It’s not beneficial to Ashley or us going forward and he knows that. He’s broken it.

He needs to be the business man he purports to be and sell us.

Why does Bruce always try to go physical with teams ? Quite sick of seeing Hayden shelvey Hendrick there…Looks like we are always trying to nick the game…With the current regulations and VAR it is even harder to defend for long…

Because he has averaged less than a point and a goal a game in his stellar twenty year managerial career.

The only person that doesn’t want Covid Cured is Steve Bruce, he doesn’t want fans in the stadium signing Bruce songs.
He knows he’s punching above his weight class and 50000 fans singing your getting fire in the morning would make things way worse.
But honestly no confidence in his interview before the match, no strategy playing against a not so good Man U side of recent, no clue on when to take players of and put new one’s on.
Total calamity, Totally clueless, Totally has no good back room staff, Totally needs to resign as manager if he really loves and supports Newcastle United due to not being able to make the team better.

I stand corrected, he has averaged 1.11 points per game, just enough to keep us out of the brown stuff and consider himself a success here 🙁

It boils my pi$$ the way he refers to ”the big clubs” I’m not sure if it’s a back handed dig at us, he has disdain for us and I bet shares the same opinion of us as Rio Ferdinand and other Man U fans, he’s not here because it’s his boyhood club but because we were the only club in the PL desperate and cheap enough to give him a job.

    Dear Newcastle fans,

Yeah, I kind of see your point about Bruce.

    Yours,

    A Neutral

    P.S.

    1) Saint-Maximin is lovely to watch.

    2) Man U were actually quite good.

    3) Never a pen for me, Clive.

    4) It was quite nice on a human level to see nice things happening to Harry Maguire.

    5) Van de Beek’s really good – why bring him on so late?

    6) Newcastle actually have lots of good players, but they play as if they have lots of bad players. Bruce is a nice man and I feel sorry for him. But when you feel sorry for a manager, that’s not a good sign, is it?

So every 4.5 games we get a hiding, generally after a really shite performance we seem to get a result or at least a better show, does that mean we’ll turn up against Wolves. What the Bruce hasn’t had yet, which every manager since we were in the PL has had, is a four game losing streak, KK, KD, SBR, they’ve all had them, Carver and Pardew took it a bit further mind but nonetheless they’ve all had them. Bruce is not a better manager than any of them bar Carver so he’s definitely due one, he’s just going to be very lucky there are going to be no fans to see it.

Have to question the decision to buy another lightweight speedster in Fraser, who isn’t a bad player, but not what we needed. Bruce seems to only want one flair player in his team as having 2-3 flair players isn’t good for parking the bus. So why buy Fraser when we have ASM and Almiron? Purely because he was free? There was a blindingly obvious need for a central midfielder or two, one that can tackle, one that can pass. Bruce seems to have thought Hendrick was that man based on a few half decent performances 3 or 4 seasons ago. The Burnley fans were saying his only quality is versatility and loyalty and that seems to be about right. He’s a Brucie player. Talentless and well past the point when he used to be considered mediocre by some people.

    Jail,
That stat shows why he has to go. He parks the bus and still concedes 3 or 4 every 4 games. If you play such negative dreary football you need to show a very low goals against to justify it. I’m sure we could concede bucket loads while playing attacking football. At least PardewMcLarenCarverKinnearBigSam&Souness weren’t as mind numbingly boring to watch.

I think once gayle is back…our subs/reserve 11 MAY beat our regular 11…

Darlow, Dummet, Yedlin, clarke, manquillo, s longstaff, m longstaff, almiron, fraser, gayle, murphy

Get Wilson for murphy and theres an exceptional chance of this team beating our regulars…in some style…

did we all not think “well its a shame that hayden is going off but now it will force Bruce to finally get Fraser or Miggy on, move Hendrick into CM and we can attack with pace”….and then the camera showed Schar putting his top on…

Shocking stuff last night. Awful negative approach, almiron should have been on the pitch as he wouldn’t have strolled around like Joel. In typical mode, a player after having a big splash of an inteview, plays really badly after, and shows that the interview was a load of nonsense. New owners and manager needed asap. Someone young and more innovative who wants to play decent attacking football. Will give some credit to man u though, some class players ad technically well ahead of us. PIF and Poch, please save us.

Awful from start to finish that’s a simple fact. The individual mistakes last night where in abundance it’s a complete and utter joke.

4141 was a ridiculous formation to play, they head any amount of space between the midfielders and defence because Hayden had no chance of covering.

I don’t know why he chose that formation, it caused us more problems than any ive seen him choose so far.

Wilson was isolated, Joe barely got a kick and was useless on the right. Hayden was a passenger, Hendricks looked like a dog in the park.

Can’t call the players for effort and as sick as I am if I was one of those players id be gutted to be hung out to dry by my own clueless manager.

Co-Commentator called it 451 and he knows his stuff tactically but I don’t think it matters whether it’s 442 or 4141 or anything else. There wasn’t enough belief. I agree with Bruce about naivety at the end. Man u are brilliant on the counter. Their pace and touch for that 3rd goal were stunning. But we looked a beaten docket from very early. I’m not sure the players were playing for him either. But unless we get PIF it won’t matter. And if we go down he will stay too.

I watched last night via a stream, it was 4 mins behind but got my alert when went 1-2 down, my Granddaughter was watching with me and I said then we will get beaten 4-1 now, I just know as soon as we lose a lead, then they equalise, usually followed by the opposition taking the lead – their heads drop.

Our team do not know how to play other than stay compact, limit opposition chances (like that works) and hope for a counter attack.

There is no style, plays to how we set up.

I posted on Twitter earlier ‘Is Steve Bruce wanting the sack ‘…..I seriously cannot understand his decisions, his starting choice, no Miggy when he knows Manure have pace, Joelinton continues, brings Schar on when Hendrick could move across, its just baffling and does not make football sense.

Is he secretly ‘peed off ‘ that he knows once takeover (yes they are definitely still talking) happens he is shown the door ? This should be his last job before retiring, is he wanting a bit of a payoff, is there a clause once T/O happens he gets nowt.

Bruce will take us down, I have no doubt after watching that last night but to leave players on the pitch that are just not worth the shirt is baffling.

Miggy would be my first name on the sheet, Joelinton wouldn’t be, not his fault, just not good enough.

    Rant over

Youngest daughters 21st today so I am not on the blog , you lot have a great day !

Gothmog nailed it for me, when Hayden went down I thought he was bound to put Hendrick in his more natural central role and put a fast winger (either Almiron or Fraser) on to stretch them and make them worry about us on the break. I’m neither a Bruce hater or protector but what little he had in the bank from me last night is lost forever… We have a team capable of beating that lot but the tactics were incredibly poor. Bruce is ruining Hendrick, we have far better alternatives for the wings but he keeps putting Hendrick wife… Ffs man even Hendrick said himself when he signed that he was looking forward to playing in the middle of the park… He is not a winger and should never be deployed wide before Almiron, Fraser or even Murphy.
