I think we both know that Lazaar will never play for the first team.
Good luck to the lad…but he has no future with us.

Comment #50Mike Ashley, despite his footballing ignorance is not daft when it comes to money, not always anyway. Once his initial smugness of saving £5M in wages and getting rid of an interfering manager to end up finishing 13th anyway had worn off then reality has dawned. Despite Brucie’s media friends plus catchy and Munter claiming that it is Brucie’s good relationship with Mikey, a man he has met no more than three times, Ashley must be footin spewing that he’s had to spend £20M on a 28 year old striker with little or no sell on value. He must be aware that his former record signing from the MLS would be lucky, at the moment to fetch half his fee as Brucie has him warming the bench. He has to be looking at players like Schar who people were saying could be worth £15/20M leaving for free at the end of the season and Sean Longstaff not being linked with Sheffield United never mind Manchester anymore. Now what is going to really get to him after spending a £100M on Bruce just to finish 13th is that he’s going to relegate us and his 5M a year saving in wages is going to end up costing him £135M a year. Now that Jeff, is unbelievable!!!

Comment #51Yeah, slightly less than the sum of our parts. The difference between slightly less and slightly more in a game of fine margins is probably around 10 points over a season for an average EPL group of players like ours and a tidier performance on the eye I’d suppose.
And also the manager is always the fall guy, but in truth a team’s fortunes are much more dependent on the overall quality of the group and injuries etc.

Comment #54Well Jail, did you read the poem, I think the oldies have had enough. The arguments are definitely a put off, I think when there was more posters, it didn’t matter so much, because they were usually over and done with after a few threads, then if you have an opion, you get told your WRONG. The football’s horrible there’s no good news, so it’s the same every day slagging the manager, the players, the owner repeat, mind he is hopeless, but the silly name calling, well goodnight lads,

Yes, I read the poem ha ha, I’ve got a feeling that’s a regular with a name change. It’s just stale at the moment, not just us, the whole nation is feeling down at the moment. That shouldn’t affect it on here but the maddening situation of not going anywhere while the manager talks about big clubs and is seemingly happy as Larry in the direction we’re going is just too much to take, the only thing that is going to change things up is when this takeover talk materialises in to something or is put to bed, hopefully the former.

I disagree. Joelinton has (or had) so much potential. Worryingly at such a crucial stage in his development (remember he’s still young) he was put into a role that doesn’t play to his strengths trying to lead the line. Now he’s being thrown on the wing. I just hope Bruce hasn’t destroyed his career because he’s a shadow of his former self in Germany.

Comment #59We play with fear and an attitude that we are football’s second best
This is instilled by Bruce in every interview he does ..Never fails to mention we are up against a big club
What kind of defeatist language is that ?
The players hear him …after a time they will take on a inferiority complex.
Second best in the head second best on the pitch .
He really is winging this job.

Comment #64Bruce seems inept in the transfer market. Buying a striker was obvious and he went for a safe bet who doesnt have the potential of Bowen, Watkins or Armstrong but is capable of getting ten goals a season for a year or Two. But it was obvious we need to address our midfield and our teams overall inability to put two passes together. Instead Bruce focused on bringing in yet another speedster in Fraser to add to ASM, Almiron, and Murphy. Then he brings in Hendrick and decides he only wants one speedster for his counter attacking plan and that Hendrick can play wing to help our lightweight midfield. Also if we want better possesion and better counter attacks Schar and Lejuene should be higher up the pecking order and Clark should be in the Championship.

Comment #65Interesting what both managers said after the Leeds – Wolves game last night (BBC):-
Nuno Espirito Santo – “It was a good performance with some aspects to improve. We were better in the second half, but at the start it was very difficult for us. They broke us, created chances, they were so dynamic. We had to adjust and be more clinical in front.”
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa – “I don’t think they were better than us, but they neutralised our game better.”
The Argentine’s deep thinking about the game has turned the West Yorkshire side into a tactical conundrum. At different times they can have three, four or five players in defence depending whether Stuart Dallas is pushing up the left flank or Phillips is dropping deep.
.
.
Now imagine Brucie coming up against a deep thinker and someone who can adjust and change his team as the game goes on. It just doesn’t bear thinking about. We’ll get spanked by both of these “big teams”.
I also wonder why every single fan I’ve read or spoken to can see the error in Brucies game, yet he can’t? Beggars belief it really does.

Comment #66Bruce’s only answer will be to comfort eat. Double kebab, send the lads out with a rousing speech and pat on the back and hope they pull something out the bag.Maybe he’ll tell the lads they can have afew beers if they can hang on. He’s from the days when every defeat was shrugged off with the explanation ‘they just wanted it more than us. We’ll have to try harder. Double running in training next week.’

Comment #6790% of fans said all this before he started. Players values going down, old journeymen with experience preferred to exciting talent, no discernible style. The two things that surprised me are I didn’t expect to be quite this defensive. I expected Pardew levels. I also didn’t think he’d still be here or would be quite so lucky.

You make some good points but I disagree with this one: you criticize that Bruce always says we’re up against a good team, which is defeatist. The thing is all managers do this even those in the big six. It’s respect, to any opponent, not fear.
Now, I get it, you’re trying, as we all are, to rediscover the “front foot”. We’ve been defending defending for many years, especially under the last two managers.
But, how? It could be that our players just aren’t good enough, but we’ve changed the faces yet the result is the same.
So, at least some of the blame must be in the coaching.
Hard to solve in one post but here goes 🙂
1. Learn to deal with the press! There are ways.
2. Attack as a unit. Everyone but one fast defender moves aggressively forward. One or two attackers will lose the ball. Our CFs are oftentimes desperately lonely, thus appearing tko always be bad players.
3. Populate the MF. As many players as are needed to at last “win” ONE possession competition. Even if it means losing the game!

Comment #73Even the way Bruce wants to play which is sit deep with a hoof at every opportunity it would work well with the front 4 that everyone knows that we should play
As you would have players with pace and the ability to beat guys on their own this would surely by default of having 4 of them together result in more chances?
ASM would suddenly be able to beat a guy cut inside and have Almiron or Fraser available to receive a pass instantly improving our 1 tactic as well its not rocket science Brucey sort it out!

I think Bruce wants to play like Man Utd before he left them not realising that even Fergie changed his tactics dramatically over the years
There was a lot of big characters in that dressing room like Keane, Robson, Cantona who pretty much could think on their own and probably didn’t need tactics either

Ashley doesn’t allow leaders in the squad, its why we have the breaking strain of a wet KitKat when put under pressure.
If he’s trying to replicate Man U he should be thrown out the door, we couldn’t be further away from a team Alex would put out.
