While we’ve yet to hear the official word, it looks like Karl Darlow will be back between the goalposts on Sunday at Wolves. The 30-year-old has arguably been our Player of the Season over the first five matches.
Darlow has been superb since last year’s Player of the Season, Martin Dubravka, went done with a heel injury in August. Karl has finally gotten another opportunity to play after a year and a half of being Dubravka’s backup.
His performances will not have gone unnoticed in the changing room. One player who knows Darlow well is captain Jamaal Lascelles. Both joined Newcastle at the same time from Nottingham Forest. What a double transfer that has turned out to be!
Lascelles touched on his teammate’s performances when he spoke to NUFC TV on Wednesday. When asked if he was surprised at how well Darlow was playing, this was his answer:
“Not at all. Since he’s been at Newcastle, I don’t think he’s put a foot wrong. Every time he’s been asked, he’s played well. In the Championship season, he played the majority of the games and we got promotion. He’s not put a foot wrong since he’s been playing in the Prem.
“He’s been patient. He’s a great professional. A lot of players could have gone off track. Not really given up, but it’s been a good few years where’s he not really had a cemented place in the team. He’s been patient. The gaffer is obviously playing him now. He’s been fantastic.
“That’s what I know from Karl. He’s a great goalkeeper. His shot-stopping, crosses, everything you’d want from your goalkeeper.”
Newcastle have a very strong group of keepers at the club. Dubravka and Darlow can now push each other for the number one spot. Mark Gillespie has played excellently in his 3 Carabao Cup starts.
We also have a couple of goalkeepers out on loan in Freddie Woodman and Jake Turner. Woodman signed a new long-term deal this summer and could be one for the future. Local lad Dan Langley is also coming through the ranks and is training with the first-team while Dubravka is injured.
Much like Dubravka was last season, Karl Darlow is the talk of the town this year. Let’s hope it continues this weekend on Sunday, though with an improved performance from his teammates.

Here is a prediction regarding the takeover…
I think PIF, PCP and the Rubens will own the club and I think it will be weeks (5?) away from happening, if not sooner!
There we go, my colours firmly nailed to the mast.
If i am wrong, so be it. Big deal.

Comment #2Well, well well… What in the wrong tea leaves is going on here lol…
My timeframe may have been wide of the mark but the sentiment remains. We will be sold to PIF and the consortium and it will be soon!
The way the “B*g 6” are squirming and looking to dial in their status only strengthen my beliefs that something has rattled them to the core, They are VERY worried!

Comment #3Become Newcastle’s player of the season by being a Newcastle goalkeeper.
Simple.
Guaranteed due to the record-breaking number of shots peppering our goal every match.
Notice a trend Steve?

@MoneyMikeAshley
Steve Bruce has spent more money on players than any manager in the clubs history.

Comment #8Toney and Armstrong weren’t good enough for the premier League even in our desperate need. They probably still aren’t as yet. I think they are currently at their level. Hankering after them as some kind of loss tells us a lot more about our plight than we probably want to know.

I reckon that most of us recognise that he has the players for the job in hand, but!!!

Comment #12I don’t think Bruce had a hand in player purchases or even who he was getting. I think the wish list is as far as he got. I think in that regard he is definitely Charnleys puppet – after all, Lee likes to keep his hand in. 🙂

It wouldn’t surprise me if someone said exactly the same about KK when he was bought from Scunny.
Frank knows a good un when he see’s one.
I’m absolutely sure that he’ll shine in the EPL.
Although under SB I wouldn’t be so confident.

Near enough every fan sees it but the people who matter don’t or maybe they do? Time will tell but past experiences say it won’t happen but if this is different and we have a consortium in the shadows hoping to be our future owners then surely they would be concerned.

Comment #17Marseille’s France forward Florian Thauvin, 27, formerly with Newcastle and recently linked with Leicester, is yet to agree a new contract, with his present deal due to expire next summer, and would be free to talk to other clubs in January. (Leicester Mercury)
They all leave then they all want to come back, but not to us.
Andy Carroll and Rondon excepted, maybe a few others

Comment #19A man REALLY has to pee
He walks into the restroom of a venue and stands in front of a urinal.Suddenly he hears a weird sound and looks to his side. There hee sees another guy peeing but with two streams!
Intrigued. He asks how that’s possible, two streams! The other guy looks up and explains he’s a veteran and by bad luck got a bullet through his manhood.
The man lets it rest, but a while later sees another guy peeing with three streams!Again the man asks how it’s possible and get’s explained that he is also a veteran and his manhood got hit by two bullets!
Again Intrigued. The man turns around and by chance sees a third guy peeing but with almost a hundred streams.A HUNDRED! Bewildered the man asks how it’s possible he got hit by so many bullets?
Embarrassed the third guy turn around and says: No, you see. I couldn’t get my zipper open.

Comment #20We’ve signed up ASM’s mate Florent Indalecio until the end of the season. He will join the u23s. Hopefully he performs well and we sign him up long term. He could also keep ASM happy.
This is the overhead kick guy that was on trial.

Comment #21So, Jose Enrique has come out and said we are as big or not bigger than Everton= Agree
He says that we should be matching Everton`s fortunes an be top 6 =Agree
He then goes on to say that Bruce obviously is a good manage
