Bruce Confirms Nothing Serious With Injured Magpie But Still Not Yet Cleared For Wolves

Steve Bruce has given his press conference this morning ahead of Sunday’s match at Wolves. One of the first questions out of the gate was the status of goalkeeper Karl Darlow after his injury last weekend.

Reports this week claimed that Darlow has not suffered anything serious and is available for Wolves. Bruce doesn’t quite go that far but he does confirm that Karl’s injury is just a knock. Here is what Bruce said about Darlow according to Newcastle’s Twitter account:

“Karl Darlow is still sore but he’s made a huge improvement from Saturday. It’ll go down to the wire [for Sunday] and we’ll see how he is. Thankfully it’s an impact injury and there’s no tear.”

Darlow reportedly suffered a pelvic bone bruise in his collision with Marcus Rashford on Saturday. The 30-year-old soldiered on but was visibly not right for the remainder of the game. If he can’t make it on Sunday, then Mark Gillespie will get his Premier League debut.

Here is some more of what Bruce said about his in-form goalkeeper:

“He’s waited patiently for his chance and he’s done very well. We hope he can make it but we’ve brought Mark Gillespie and he’s done well in the cup competitions. We have to see what the next 48 hours bring. Mark is ready if he has to make his PL debut.”

It seems like it will be touch and go for Darlow to make the trip to Molineux. If he’s not ready then he really shouldn’t be risked. Mark Gillespie can fill in with Dan Langley coming in as the backup.

Steve Bruce this morning: “As Newcastle manager you know the criticism flows. Sometimes you think it’s a little unjust but it’s what we deal with these days with social media and every game on the TV. Now everybody is a manager. But I understand it, it’s the beauty of it.” #NUFC

Has anyone else had an email from petitions at Parliament asking to fill out a survey for the review of football governance? (Petitions Team, UK Government and Parliament)

    Steve, the criticism is justified.

    It flows?

It would be a torrent if fans were allowed in grounds.

    “Everyone’s a manager”

    Your obviously not.

One of my favourite things is when journalists ask Steve Bruce a question, hear his ridiculous answer and just sit there silently nodding.

Terrified of questioning him on anything he says incase they lose their precious little press passes.

Wonder how many people pretend they love Newcastle just so they can appear on podcasts and boost their social media following.

Not me, I don’t even pretend to love Newcastle.

I think my dog would ask Bruce more challenging questions than these journalists.

Its another job for mates, don’t rock the boat or your out.

Im sick of the same 4 or 5 lines from Bruces.

Call themselves journalists, what they write isn’t fit to wrap your fish n chips..

Give me a photo off De Marco any day, atleast he isn’t pretending its fact based or fair n balanced assessment.

    Rotonda

You referred to Bruce’s negativity getting to the players and this extract from the Chronic just beggars belief:

‘At that point you need the help of supporters. It is the biggest miss of all against the big teams. There is no home advantage. We were in the game.’

He’s blaming the ManU capitulation on the lack of fans and oh, again he’s referred to the so called big teams.

Does anyone wonder why the players just gave up? He’s supposed to be motivating the players, not demotivating ’em. He really needs to go.

If we’re in or close to a relegation spot by Xmas, he really does have to go and be replaced by an old hand that knows how to avoid the drop!

Most the other managers are getting praised on twitter for their free flowing attacking football that is worth paying to watch. Bruce is the only one getting sh*t for playing awful football.
