Young Magpie Switches Agents As Clock Again Begins To Tick On His Future

Matty Longstaff made his season debut in our 2-0 loss at Southampton two weeks ago. The 20-year-old had been out since pre-season with a pesky thigh injury. He played twice for Chris Hogg’s U23s before finally getting a half an hour against the Saints.

Longstaff was a revelation last October when he bagged a goal on his league debut to sink Manchester United 1-0 at St. James’ Park. He scored again against the Red Devils in a 4-1 defeat on Boxing day.

Appearances were hard to come by for the local lad in 2020. He was handed just 2 league starts and 3 in our FA Cup run after New Years’ Day. He still hit the headlines though with a protracted contract saga that was never resolved until he became a free agent.

He ultimately signed a quick fix two-year deal in late August. However, the clock continued to tick on his Newcastle future before the ink was even dry. This summer we could be back at it again as he enters the final year of his contract.

The hope is Newcastle won’t let it get to that point. The deal in August was to buy time to reach an agreement on a long-term contract with the promising midfielder. However, his injury has not helped matters.

Matty needs an opportunity to show his value in order to get the terms he is likely seeking. Newcastle will also need to see him produce on the pitch to offer a long-term deal with higher wages.

The Chronicle is reporting that Matty has signed up with the Triple S agency and has left Beswick Sports.

Triple S agency was founded by former Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd. They tweeted an announcement confirming the news yesterday.

Hopefully, this change in agents will mean smoother negotiations on a long-term deal for Longstaff. However, we don’t expect any progress on talks to be imminent with Matty just returning from his long lay-off.

Newcastle and Matty must not let the events that played out last season and late into this summer happen again.

Lesh, from previous, nó I’m not a psychologist but it wouldn’t take a genius to work out that Jib had a heavy effect on you, as you keep bringing his name up, and even questioning if newbies are in fact Jib. That’s a bit… Odd.

Ffs this is a back and fro with you it’s so tedious now.

We don’t agree, wait I should say you don’t ever agree with any opinion I’ve had so what’s the point discussing them?

We are the worst for clashing and a lot is not even about football so I’d rather just ignore you and keep the peace as it never ends well, never.

my take on the letter off the club ..

THE broke their own rules ( NDA’s ) by passing bits of information to certain members of the press .

The club by posting this letter is their way of countering them back , you released info so we as a club are keeping OUR FANS in the loop .

and i’ll bet any amount of Money Nick De Marco drafted the letter for the club to publish …

imo i dont think Ashley he’s wanting out , he’s not looking for compo

#NUFC confirm they’ve undertaken proceedings against the PL & escalate war of words – but still haven’t confirmed what form it’s taking.

Told Saudis remain as determined as ever to complete #NUFCTakeover

So that article clearly states that the club/Ashley aren’t making it clear what the end game is. If PIF hadn’t of issued a statement saying for economic reasons they were pulling out I could get excited that things are back on track. As far as we know there isn’t a buyer and Ashley, being £30M up from a deposit is basically suing the EPL.

I think that as the statement specifically mentions arbitration its solely to do with the sale and doesn’t have to be a court but simply an elected panel
If it was for damages ashley would have to sue and therefore it wouldnt be arbitration.
Arbitration by its nature settles disputes
I live in hope that this goes through whilst I’m still on this planet
