Newcastle United have released some images from today’s training session. The photos can be seen here.
The big news is that Jonjo Shelvey has returned to training. He joins Matt Ritchie as two of the four with long-term injuries back in team training. Dwight Gayle is back on the grass and Martin Dubravka should be close judging by his living room celebration when Slovakia qualified for the European Championships.
There also an unexpected sighting of Paul Dummett jogging amongst the pictures. He reportedly had suffered a hamstring injury that was to keep him out until well into next month. So we’re not sure what to make of that.
As for two of our recently injured stars, Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser, both were not spotted in any of the released images. Fraser is likely to be out longer than Wilson with a hamstring tear. Wilson could be within a shout to play against Chelsea on Saturday, however, that’s probably too soon.
There were a few of our internationals back. Jeff Hendrick, Emil Krafth, and Fabian Schar have returned to Newcastle in time for today’s session. Though there was no sight of Miguel Almiron which is slightly worrying.
Jamal Lewis played last night as a substitute in Northern Ireland’s 1-1 draw against Romania in the Nations League. Ciaran Clark was an unused substitute for the Republic of Ireland in yesterday’s 0-0 draw against Bulgaria.
It’s great to see both Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie involved again. Of course, we’re really excited that young Elliot Anderson continues to train with the first team. A debut could be coming soon for the midfielder.

Comment #12Ashley has the best sports lawyers on this case and it appears to me that the EPL are a bunch of incompetents.
I don’t think they will pursue their defence but I don’t understand the arbitration issue as this normally applies when a decision has been made. Are they ruling on whether the takeover should be allowed? I’m puzzled but can’t help feeling we’re on a winner!

Comment #13Moonraker the last bit was supposed to be arbitration offered on the saudi versus pif issue so they could actually make a decision.
I’m just assuming it may still be that

Comment #14The 1st Para of that Club statement refers to arbitration about the EPL’s conduct during the takeover process.
Not sure where the PIF and Saudi State issue fits in there?
I do like the last para though, calling the EPL out for dragging their arses!

Comment #16Surely to God this has to be about getting the sale done…
It cannot be just about the Saudi state and PIF… Why?
Well, If I remember correctly, Masters said that they hadn’t even got past the first stage (who would hold the power at NUFC). They hadn’t got to supposed issues involving piracy or anything else in the O&D test…
So if we win this dispute, what’s to stop the PL from stalling on the next step or phase? We would be in the exact same position!
Nope, this case has to be for the sale of the club to be pushed through, as it should have been, in accordance with the test as it stands.

That’s my take on all this too.
They will arbitrate one decision, then move on to the next…and on and on for the next 10 years if they have to, the PL will not lose face.
and we carry on living off the crumbs of hope.
Meanwhile the PiF will buy Fulham after they get relegated, walk through the EFL tests, get promoted so the PL can’t test them and build a nice BIG London based club

Comment #19Don’t think I can take much more of the shit show that is NUFC. I think if i was to be let into SJP now I’d be ripping into everything. Ashley, PL, no takeover and clueless manager. The love affair is ending for me. Why is nothing ever straightforward for us. Why are we forever run by incompetents. I can count the moments of ecstasy on one hand over the past 40 years. It’s depressing and bad for your health. Can someone just erase the whole sorry mess before I get sectioned.

Comment #22I think there is an arse about face here. If Ashley won compensation, his case would have to be be proven first which means (obviously) he was in the right..
To be in the right the Premier League were wrong to stop the sale..
It is after that where compensation would be due not before?
The amount of compensation would then be up to the court…
Hopefully it would be an eye watering amount…

Comment #25onmeedsun, I would implore you to hang on in there mate…
Times are hard, I get that, we have a pandemic, lockdowns, people are losing jobs, livelyhoods, loved ones, homes. The world as we knew it is no more. All very very depressing.
On the club front, try and remember Keegans words, this is our club and one day, we will get it back, and it will be everything you ever dreamed of.

There was a time when I’d either watch the toon game live, on TV or failing that be on the end of a radio. I don’t always bother now as the outcome is generally too predictably depressing, and it’s a hard watch. I still have a season ticket but for how much longer I don’t know. It literally ruins your life.

I shared Keegans vision. He and Bobby knew how good we could be. But he bottled it. I have a memorial stone under the Milburn, which I put down 20 years ago. It just says ‘one day’ as I thought one day we will actually get it right. But 13 years of Ashley has been like a life sentence and just when we find someone rich enough to buy the club off that greedy twat, mysterious forces undo it. Only us! Why can’t we just enjoy going to the match. Isn’t that what it’s all about.
