Newcastle vs. Chelsea – Team Prediction, Injuries, And Poll Result

This is the team we predicted Steve Bruce would name for Saturday’s match against Chelsea. It has four changes from the loss to Southampton.

This team is predicated on the assumption that Steve Bruce will not risk any players still recovering from injury. That leaves him short upfront with Callum Wilson hopefully being saved for next week.

Both Ciaran Clark and Matty Longstaff need an opportunity after barely featuring this year due to injury. They are both fit now and should be pushing for their chance.

Bruce revealed that a handful of Magpies are getting close to a return. However, we expect him to be without seven tomorrow, at least for the starting eleven. Wilson could get a spot on the substitutes bench.

Newcastle Injuries

Dwight Gayle (knee), Martin Dubravka (heel), Paul Dummett (hamstring), Ryan Fraser (hamstring), Jonjo Shelvey (groin – late fitness test), Callum Wilson (hamstring – late fitness test), Matt Ritchie (shoulder – late fitness test)

Chelsea Injuries

Christian Pulisic (hamstring), Thiago Silva (late return from international duty), Kai Havertz (Covid-19 – late fitness test), Ben Chilwell (back – late fitness test)

Our readers are obviously not optimistic about this one with 75% expecting a loss. That’s the likely result but you never know as last season Isaac Hayden pulled a rabbit out of a hat in the final minutes to get a shock win.

How Will Newcastle Fare Against Chelsea On Saturday?

The most important thing is to see an improvement from our last match. We seem to say that far too often. But the run of fixtures following this one are crucial and putting in a competent performance tomorrow could be key to sparking a decent run over the next month.

Unfortunately since Brucie was installed my eager anticipation of match days has sadly diminished to just watching out of morbid curiosity.
If we do manage to fluke a win I will no doubt urinate in my trousers whilst rolling around the floor in hysterics trying at the same time to prevent mu backside from falling off.
I will then have to ask wor lass to clean the coffee off the computer keyboard which I spilt during my mad moment.

It’s great having BT though. I didn’t have it with my 125€ a month sky package. Think it was another 20€. Do I get to listen to Michael Owen? 🙂

Tsunki totally agree (weird lol) if you go in all guns blazing demanding this and that then you will get nothing but if you go in and play it right like you said then it can be quite successful in getting what we want.

It’s quite spooky this, me and my mate have got this whole hotel to ourselves overlooking the promenade in Blackpool, the owners have gone away for the weekend.

Who made your breakfast eh? or did you have to make your own?

    Haha Ghost

Now got this image of Bruce studying the opposition team sheet then shouting the lads over, “right lads, pick a name and just mimic what they do, it’ll really mess them up”.

Fair point jail. I was tested a few weeks back. Let’s just say I wasn’t cut out to be gay. The nose part is OK though.

Looks like the GTM is parking the bus, surprised to see Jonjo on bench, thought he’d be out for another couple of weeks. Hope GTM aint risking him.

    Disappointed there’s no Anderson.
