Clark, Hayden, And Joelinton Get Starts For Newcastle Against Chelsea

This is the team Steve Bruce has named for this afternoon’s return to St. James’ Park against Chelsea. It has four changes from the loss to Southampton.

It looks like Bruce may have gone back to the dreaded 5-4-1 that was so anemic last season unless Jacob Murphy is drafted into a central role. It’s a recall for Ciaran Clark, Javier Manquillo, Joelinton, and Isaac Hayden.

Callum Wilson is thankfully not risked but it’s going to be Joelinton upfront by himself once again. That formula did not work last season. Let’s hope Jacob Murphy and Allan Saint-Maximin can get forward to provide some threat.

Here is who Frank Lampard will send out for the visitors. This is still a very strong side even without some of their more dynamic players like Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic.

Newcastle must show a reaction from the performance two weeks ago at St. Mary’s. In what has been a campaign of peaks and valleys, some semblance of consistency has to be the goal. A result may not be on the cards today, but a decent display is a must.

Howay The Lads!

As normal will be long ball towards Joel and ASM who will be completely isolated. Rest of the team will be deep defending all game.

Jail, is it a test or just your tempriture?

And why on earth would anyone take the test anyway, the whole thing is a huge scam. No meaningful test magnifies more than X25, this test is magnified to x45. It picks up anything as a positive test, you can take 10 tests all in a row and get 5 positive 5 negative.

The is a big case in Germany, doctors and lawyers are taking the guy who made this test to court. The guy who is leading the case took VW to court and won over diesel gate, and he took deutsche bank to court over dodgy time share scheme and won.

And you need to read about Kluas schwab. 2030 you will own nothing and be happy.

Total bs to say Miggy wouldnt be ready to play, he wasnt even playing the last international. Hes made it very obvious in my opinion that things arent right. HOW THE HELL does a manager leave out one of our best forwards especially when we are without our main striker. Takes off Schar and leaves on Lacelles, Schar has been our best defender of late and Lacelles our worst. This team seems ultra defensive, possibly the most defensive I’ve seen him put out.

    Newcastle 0 Chelsea 4.

Anything above 35% possession is a bonus.

we might get something out of today’s match
Good to see Hendrick finally dropped
Only downside is no Callum Wilson
The key is to not leave linton isolated upfront

Its astonishing to hear anyone call Schar our best defender
Schar should be starting in a back five i agree
but its staggeringly ignorant to suggest he starts ahead of Lascelles
Who is an absolute ROCK in defence

Why do people think travelling is that detrimental. Hes been home 2 days it’s only 13 hrs flight time of which he can sleep as much of it as he wants.

It can make a difference when they play a match
before a long journey home but its absolute nonsense to think Miggy wouldnt be right for a match 2 days after a 13hr flight in which he didnt even have to play a match for over a week.

I’m starting to think Miggy is even going to be gone by January, if he does it’s going to be a real shame, because with a proper manager and in a proper team where he doesnt have to defend I think he could be special.

Bruce is literally killing this club, far more than I expected and that’s saying a lot.

The back 5 is fine, those 3 together last season before Clark got injured was our best run of form.

Best side we could put out wjth injuries but would have started Miggy.

Don’t blame Bruce though with him suspended asking him to come home a bit earlier to make sure 100% for the match

Toonbrother I would have agreed with you months ago, Schar was our worst and Lacelles was by far our best. But Lacelles isnt the same player he was a Schar has improved immeasurably alongside Fede in the past month, he has easily been our best defender.

It’s the pace and intensity of playing in the premier league. The average amateur player wouldn’t last 10 minutes with these guys. Even poor teams still have to be 100% on it and good teams like Chelsea etc have the skill as well .

Irish I tend to agree with you all is not good with Miggy but travelling certainly can take it out of you. I travelled to the US many times with work flying business class and generally you have a big seat that recliners pretty much into a bed. I really struggled to sleep and was knackered when arriving. I guess everyone is different as some people sleep so easy but it can definitely effect players.
