Freddie Woodman manned the nets for Swansea this afternoon as they took on Dan Barlaser and Rotherham at home. It was another clean sheet for Freddie as Swans defeated Rotherham 1-0 on a 28th-minute strike from Matt Grimes. Woodman has 6 clean sheets in his 10 league starts for Swansea. The win moves them up to fourth in the Championship.

It was another start for Kelland Watts as Plymouth Argyle traveled to take on Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town. It was an afternoon to forget for the Pilgrims as Barton’s boys smashed them 5-1 ending a 6-match unbeaten streak. Kelland wasn’t at fault for any of the goals though a poor headed clearance did ultimately lead to Fleetwood’s second.

Comment #217What a dump this blog has turned into. A bunch of pricks obsessed with adoring a previous manager, slagging off a few others who felt a bit different and dared go against the grain, and hounding a few others who desperately want to believe in a takeover and even harass a guy because his wife featured in his dialogue. There must be 15 fools here who are certainly don’t represent the geordies and nufc fans I knew. Well done, keep going, you’ll soon have about 20 posters here.

Comment #226Munster give over you’re the one who constantly brings up Rafa you’re the one who as soon as anyone criticizes Rafa has to join in aswell to goad others. You’re the one who constantly plays victim. Granted others aren’t angels but you constantly play victim like when you took the Mick out of someone for being from hartlepool yet gets a self righteous when anyone mentions Ireland. You’re nothing but a hypocrite and yet you have the audacity to say it’s others making the blog bad when even casual readers can see how much you stir

Comment #228To get anything out of a game against a team which will possibly win the league, everything must click, everyone must outdo himself and you need luck too.
Longstaff hit the crossbar. Andy had an excellent effort, Almiron too.
We are one point away from City, that can’t be bad.
But: why do we defend so deep, when we proved we can come out, in the second half?
Why can’t our players, expensive PL pros, pass the ball? Why does nobody want the ball in throw ins?! Why can’t we learn how to press, or at least deal with the press??
Panic time? (PS. This question has come up many times in the last decade). Of course not. Not yet.
Come on. Let’s play some football.
Onwards… and upwards?

Comment #229Jenas has got a nerve. “Defending in numbers is part of our DNA because of two years of Rafa. But given time and his own players Bruce will sort it out”
Is that right? Bruce has been her 18 months, and we have no identity at all. Not a jot of one.
I don’t tend to blame managers though. A teams fortunes are essentially down to the depth, quality and balance of the squads the club owner sanctions.
What’s in our DNA is bottom half football teams and bottom half football, because we have been run by the cheapest, most half arsed billionaire businessman in the world for the past 15 years, and Steve Bruce certainly isn’t giving anything like the impression that he’s about to alter anything.
Pundits should just STFU if the truth is too much trouble for them.

It’s hard to believe he actually said that. So we have to wait until we’ve got a team full of Jeff Hendricks before we see his front football.

What I meant by that was a team full of Bruce signings . He’s been here 18 months and £100M spent. Does he need a whole group of players who never played for our former manager before that excuse can be banished.

I know what you meant….Bruce ain’t any good, but he’s here and he ain’t going anywhere.
Let’s face it, he would have to be performing way, way worse than he is now for him to be in any danger of the elbow.
For anybody doubting that…think back to John carver
Bruce is still on 1+ points per game, Charnley’s lower spec limit is probably around 0.75

Comment #237Jenas should specify a) how much time Bruce needs to get us playing front foot football, b) a previous club where Bruce played front foot football. He should also explain why Rafa only took a few months to get us playing effective (ie not conceding many) defensive football after taking over a team with a poor defence, but Bruce needs two years or more to get a team that were already scoring goals and won their last game before he arrived 4-0 to play attacking football. And if he’s transforming us why are we going in the opposite direction? We have less shots, less possesion, less time in opponents half than we did when Bruce arrived. He’s moving away from front foot football. Meanwhile Southampton, Brighton, Leeds, Villa managed it succesfully and quickly. Brighton and Southampton were playing very negative football with their previous managers (both British). They didnt spend as much as us. Now they play nice football they can be proud of, we play worse football we are ashamed of.

Comment #238We have lots of attacking speed merchants, but barely anyone who can make short passes. Bruce had plenty of time to see this and bought Lewis and Fraser (more speed merchants). We still have nobody good at passing, although Almiron and Longstaff aren’t bad.
