Bruce Pleased With Two Magpies On A Difficult Afternoon

Steve Bruce has spoken after Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea. It’s another poor performance with Newcastle not offering much in attack and being pegged deep for much of the match.

The second half was slightly better with Newcastle seeing more of the ball. However, they weren’t able to do too much with it having only one shot on target all afternoon.

The head coach said the following about the game per Newcastle’s Twitter account:

“We got off to an awful start against a very good Chelsea team and unfortunately we went far too deep in the first half.

“Second half we went higher up the pitch and were better. It was our best part of the game when we conceded the second.”

Newcastle came out of the gate with intent but that lasted all of three minutes. It was then all Chelsea for the remainder of the first half. We agree with Bruce that the second goal came when Newcastle were looking their brightest.

Bruce did name two Magpies who he thought played very well. They were Sean Longstaff and Joelinton, who did have decent afternoons under the circumstances.

“I thought Sean Longstaff did very well. I thought Joelinton played very well on the day. We had a really decent spell against them and that’s hard to do. They’re a good team with good players.”

Joelinton was deployed up front in place of the injured Callum Wilson. The Brazilian had 2 key passes and was fouled 5 times. Longstaff completed over 90% of his passes while also doing a job defensively.

No WL Toon . I think Bruce was the only one who would take the job at the time.
Now with still talk of a takeover lots of decent managers would be interested to try to make an impression especially with Ashley giving the impression he really wants to sell.

    Lancs

We keep hearing the don’t have the players for this or for that, they can’t play this way or that way….BS

We have good players but a shit squad and I know for a fact get a decent manager in here and he could get much much more out of this squad.

Imagine Potter or Hasenhüttl with these lads? Well I believe we would see a very different team

Does Bruce see something we don’t? We can barely string two passes together and he’s talking as if Chelsea just edged it in a close contest.

The players look like they’ve never met before. In every game. I don’t know how that’s even possible.

We’ve had some terrible football in the last few years but the last few months is probably the worst of it. We’ve missed out the midfield for quite a while now but to have absolutely no discernable ‘play’ whatsoever is just bizaare- I thought the lack of Hendrick would improve things but he’s just another really crappy cog in a broken machine.

What do you think they actually work on in training all week? Or maybe ‘Brucie’ is a “Good Man Manager” because he lets them piss around playing FIFA and Darts rather than any work all week.

Can anyone honestly pick an aspect of our game which has improved in any way in the last year? If anything, we’re degrading. He’s an Anti-Coach!

If we were a normal club with a normal committed owner, Bruce would be under intense pressure now but because the owner doesn’t care and there’s no crowd to yell at him, Bruce knows he’s safe! Bloody ridiculous state of affairs!

    I’d love Gerrard

If the GTM was sacked then rather than getting a completely new manager in promote Steve Harper on a caretaker basis until the takeover is finalised then we sign, Nagelsman or someone similar.

Can’t do any worse than what is currently being served up.

When kk was brought in by Sir John Hall all them years ago, he’d never managed before, he took over the team and changed it into one off the best teams the Premier league has seen, all with no experience of the role, all it took was his knowledge of the game and the trust and backing of the owner, you don’t need experience in the job just people who know the game and ain’t afraid to have a go

It has been mentioned many times about missing posters, let’s put it to bed..
It is not the blog at fault, it is the crap football being served up week in and week out that is killing the enthusiasm of the supporters by an owner who does not give a damn and this excuse for a manager nothing else..

Ashley doesn’t care to have a progressive manager tbf it’s the complete opposite to what he wants,

The only thing that will save this club is a takeover

Charlie at 42, spot on about rafa in the championship too. At soon as we hit exciting football it was ditched because the likes of Burton were so good. But my main point was that we couldn’t comment negatively about the dross football etc because he won the CL 20 years ago. I’ll give rotonda 5 mins before he starts soiling himself

Well done to you and WL for calling it like it was, and plenty of guys hearted you two.

We cannot and will not look for managers who are developing upwards. Maybe nickson should have that task, because charnley will just look for an unemployed English guy. If dyche gets sacked we’ll get him in 6 months when Bruce goes.

The alternative is that Bruce stays for a promotion fight!

I can think of a very good reason somone might lie about something. Because they are delusional and secondary to that, they crave attention.

Lastly when they have to resort to “why would I lie” you know the game is already up.
