Newcastle Outclassed But Trail Chelsea Just 1-0 At The Half

Newcastle were set up in a 5-4-1 with Allan Saint-Maximin on the left-wing and Jacob Murphy on the right. Joelinton spearheaded the attack. The lads started the match showing some real intent. They immediately won two free-kicks and two corners in the first three minutes.

Things returned to normal after Newcastle’s brief spurt with Chelsea going on the attack. The Blues got the first attempt on goal forcing Karl Darlow into another wonderful save on a low shot by Timo Werner in the 4th minute.

Darlow made another wonderful save in the 8th minute. Hakim Ziyech launched a ball from the right that found Tammy Abraham in front of the goal. His header was parried away by Darlow.

However, on the subsequent corner, Chelsea took the lead through an own goal from Federico Fernandez. The defender knocked in Mason Mount’s cross after being harried by Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea maintained their dominance for the remainder of the half after Newcastle’s early push. Timo Werner should have doubled Chelsea’s lead on the half-hour mark but pulled his shot wide when he was in front of the goal.

Newcastle have been thoroughly outclassed by the visitors at St. James’ Park. Chelsea have had 80% of the possession while Newcastle have had no efforts on target. However, a combination of a lack of ruthlessness by the Blues and Karl Darlow keeps Newcastle’s deficit to just one goal.

Mike -“Lee, when do you reckon we got the best support from the fans and everyone was happy with what we were doing”

Lee – “The two championship seasons Mike”

    Mike – “So…. we’ll stick with Stevie B then?”

    Lee – “Yep.”

we got a throwing in their half and we passed it all the way to darlow.

sums of bruce coaching philosophy and our current club DNA.

Hey Cabbage Head, get the scouts out before January and look for some good old fashion Scottish and Irish defenders. We seem to have always done well when we have had both nationalities playing for our club. But you should know that as you call yourself a Newcastle fan.

Yes Almiron and ASM. On their day a decent combination, played right. And together on the pitch at the same time.

Random i struggle with stevie mac’s accent but he is so correct about us today. He nailed Bruce on 84 mins when we had a throw in at their penalty area and it ended up back at our goalie. The guy in the studio is excellent too and cited our reasonable hopes end expectations. Who is that presenter?

At least we gave them a game in the 2nd half.

Great effort by AC, thought he’d scored.

    Nearly 18months
    Over 100m spent
    3 transfer windows

Bruce still can’t implement and sort of style

How anyone can defend what we witness week after week is baffling

why do I keep watching this s!*t every week……I feel for the players having such a poor poor manager. Tactics are pathetic. 27% possession today? and 95% of it in our own half. absolutely abysmal

Rob Lee mentioning the takeover rumblings won`t sit well on Bein Sport, the channel he is being interviewed on.

He took off ASM for Carroll. That was effectively giving up.

Joelinton is possibly the worst Premier League signing ever if the reported fee is true (I don’t believe it is, I think it was inflated to stop criticism of not spending).

Bruce has got to think about resigning after having his team put in that performance- he should be embarrassed.

They looked like strangers and didn’t know what they were supposed to do.

An utter failure of scouting and coaching. We are the worst team in the league.

    BBC
Chelsea stroll to win over listless Newcastle.

    Thanks for nothing Bruce.
I don’t pay a lot of money for two season tickets to watch a once proud club to be trodden on like that.
