Newcastle United have released images from today’s training session in preparation for Friday’s match at Crystal Palace. It’s great news as Dwight Gayle is back training with the boys. Jamaal Lascelles was also able to train after coming off at halftime with a thigh injury against Chelsea.
The images can be seen here. The following is part of a statement from the club on the return of Dwight and Jamaal.
Former Eagles striker Dwight Gayle has now stepped up his return from the medial collateral ligament injury he suffered in pre-season while skipper Jamaal Lascelles was able to train on Wednesday after the thigh problem which forced him off against Chelsea last weekend was assessed.
Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie also continue to work their way back into contention. Shelvey made the bench last weekend. There’s still no sign of Martin Dubravka or Ryan Fraser. Callum Wilson also was not featured in any of the images but Bruce did confirm that he had returned to training.
So Bruce should have some more players to select from for the trip to Selhurst Park. It’s unlikely Dwight Gayle will be available to play against his old club but his return to training comes at an optimal time with the heavy holiday schedule just around the corner.

Comment #35Probably didnt appreciate how good he was until I watched a video compilation recently when some older stuff was shown, what a player.
Obviously was a hero over here when he scored both goals v England. No doubt the Scots loved him too 🙂

Comment #38Wilson is so vital for us. Allows us to play long ball with a bit of efficiency, and simplifies an attack that needs complexity. Bruce must adore him. Fine player to be fair.

Comment #40Romford, I was just thinking as they don’t have Zaha why not go with Wilson and Gayle up front, you know Gayle would bite at the chance to score against old club
