Report – Bruce Told He Has No Money To Spend in January

With next month shaping up to be monumental for Newcastle’s season, there is a worrying report from The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards. According to the report, there is no money for reinforcements in January.

To compound matters, both Allan Saint-Maximin and Ryan Fraser could be out for much of next month. Saint-Maximin is still recovering from the after-effects of Covid and his return date is unknown. Fraser has picked up a groin injury which kept him out of the Manchester City defeat on Saturday.

Reports earlier this season suggested that Steve Bruce would be backed in January, if necessary. However, those claims have shifted significantly as this season has progressed with more recent reports indicating Bruce will only be able to bring in loans.

That is where Bruce is focusing after having been told that there will be no money for permanent signings, according to Edwards. Newcastle still have both domestic loan slots available as Bruce could favor bringing in Premier League proven players.

Unfortunately, it appears that any move for Tottenham’s Dele Alli is not one that is being considered. Newcastle cannot afford his wages and Alli is unwilling to come to the North East.

The recruitment team is also looking at players in Europe for possible loans with the option to buy, similar to the deals struck for Valentino Lazaro and Nabil Bentaleb last January.

This season is heading south very quickly and if Bruce is not backed in January, it could become a very slippery slope. Ashley has opened his wallet in the past when Newcastle have been in danger of a relegation fight.

Whether he’s willing to do that this time around with revenues down due to Covid remains to be seen.

Seeing as already one postponed and maybe ours will have to be because of the city game, should all games not be off again?

It was reported in the chron the other day that penfold, Bishop and Barnes believe Brucie is more than capable than leading the club to a mid table finish wich says it all really. This has all the eery hallmarks of mcnuggets ilfated spell. But if lard arse did get rid of Bruce at his own vallition, would the consortium genuinely allow lardey to appoint another gopher who he would presumably only want until the summer anyway?

If a manager criticises a club’s fanbase, then he does so at his own risk.

Many of Steve Bruce’s predecessors at Newcastle United have had to bite their tongues over the years. They’ve all had their own frustrations at St James’s Park, and none of them have liked the criticism which inevitably comes with the job.

Even the late, great Sir Bobby Robson was not immune to criticism from supporters. Robson, however, chose his words carefully.

Bruce, of course, had pledged to accept whatever criticism came his way following last week’s Carabao Cup defeat to an under-strength Brentford side.

United’s head coach named a very strong side for the quarter-final at the Brentford Community Stadium, only for his team to produce a weak performance. They were deservedly beaten 1-0.

“I have to accept what’s coming my way, and accept that its part and parcel of being the manager of Newcastle and accept the criticism which is fully justified,” said Bruce.

Bruce was lucky there were no fans inside the stadium. As it was, Bruce had to contend with criticism from the media – and supporters online. There was further scrutiny of his tactics – and calls for him to go.

    Steve Bruce.
    Steve Bruce.
And that criticism had seemingly got to Bruce by the time he took his team to the Etihad Stadium for the Boxing Day game against Manchester City, which Newcastle lost 2-0.

Asked if the criticism had been over the top, Bruce said: “I’ll let other people judge that. We had a bad week, but some of the mass hysteria, in my opinion, was unfair. A lot of it was not right, in my opinion. I’m probably going to say that, but that’s my opinion on it.”

Presumably Bruce had been advised to avoid criticising fans, whatever his frustrations. Certainly, that comment needlessly inflamed things ahead of tomorrow night’s home game against Liverpool.

United’s players can quieten Bruce’s critics through performances and results, and United, 13th in the Premier League and seven points above the relegation zone, have a tough run of games coming up.

And Bruce should take a step back after unwisely stepping over that line at the Etihad Stadium.

If memory serves the club said it would have no money for the January during the summer window!

It’s the reason we didn’t loan anyone in the summer.

Can’t wait to see what Bruce pulls out his arse.

What have we done to deserve to be stuck in this rot of a situation?

A complete Merry go Round in the life of a Newcastle United fan!

This constant feel of purgatory is wearing me down and what is worse being in this situation is being told as fans we are deluded! We should be happy where we are at! We need to accept our remit is to stave off relegation!

I’m sure some Newcastle fan has messed with some dark forces or something like that as we are most certainly cursed or someone has got it in for this club big time.

Hurry up DeMarco put the pressure on

HThe BBC provide a facility to submit formal complaints or as a quicker alternative, comment on particular programmes or issues.

I’ve just submitted a comment about Radio 5 Live and Savage’s attitude towards NUFC fans who call his post match phone in programme.

Following the example of others, I’ve raised the question about Savage’s ridicule and provocation of NUFC fans when they call to raise concerns about Ashley or Bruce.

In addition and I think importantly, I’ve suggested that Savage being on the books of the PR agency that represents Bruce, may have a conflict of interest which detracts from the BBC’s supposedly independent, neutral broadcaster.

Just a thought if anyone’s thinking about raising the matter of Savage’s behaviour but more importantly, no bad language.

“unless we get some good news very soon We will be rock bottom and will struggle big style”

    last 6 matches:
    beat Palace
    beat West Brom
    lost to Leeds
    drew with Fulham
    lost to Brentford (cup)
    lost to Man City

we only lost 1 league game in those 6 matches where we may have been expected to pick up points . i think the lift we need must come against the likes of Leicester, Arsenal and Everton.

Fulham drew with Liverpool a week or 2 ago too.

why can they pick up points vs city and Lpool but we write them off?

you havent factored in the cost of the chloroform needed to abduct Soumare and Plea and smuggle them into NCL against their will. Possibly the cost involved with finding a way to blackmail them to play for us too.
