Carroll, Dummett, And Lascelles Get Starts At Arsenal

This is the team Steve Bruce has named for the FA Cup tie at Arsenal. It has seven changes from the defeat to Leicester City.

Steve Bruce looks to have possibly transitioned to either a 4-4-2 or a 4-2-3-1. As expected from yesterday’s press conference, Martin Dubravka and Jamaal Lascelles are in the starting eleven.

However, it’s surprise starts for Andy Carroll and Emil Krafth. Joelinton, Miguel Almiron, and Sean Longstaff keep their place while Isaac Hayden returns from suspension.

Here is who Mikel Arteta has chosen for the hosts.

If Newcastle hope to replicate their last two cup runs they’ll have to pull off an upset at the Emirates tonight. Arsenal have won three straight while Newcastle are on a streak of six without a win.

The odds are stacked against us but let’s hope they can put in a performance and shock the Gunners tonight.

Howay The Lads!

Don’t know what team I expected but it definitely wasn’t this one. I forgot Hendrick even existed ?

Expecting 4-4-2 with Hendrick on the RW.

Given Bruce’s tactical flailing could be anything really.

    Not expecting to progress.

ASM is going nowhere in Jan.

Not played in weeks, not match fit and no team will pay the min £60M I reckon would even be half considered before being rejected.

David Luiz in for Arsenal – this could get interesting

Think we’ll be 4-4-1-1 or 4-3-3 with a press like we tried last time out, worked well too – for about 20 minutes then we were tired so fell back to the Alamo yard box.

    Official site says its a 4-5- 1.
With Carroll being the front man up top.

Interesting to say the least – still think we’ll get beat – but it will be interesting if Carroll can batter them a bit and make openings for others.

I think Lesh maybe asked you to write to the Daily Telegraph because of your long standing friendship here and the comradarie that comes with it that invokes a sense of confidence in a friend..a question that you would ask of a friend off the cuff whilst standing at the bar having a beer.

You build up a relationship and it inspires confidence in someone you trust.

I don’t think you picked up on that and maybe it wasn’t conveyed.

Think that question of you was all about trust and seeing you as a Freind .

    Shake hands Lads.

Happy with this 11 – as mentioned earlier Tuesday is far more important.

Gayle should have started though instead of Joe, no idea where Manquillo is and we need him fit and ready to go.

It’s imperative that we stay in the Prem League for the takeover to happen so he was never going to risk playing Wilson.

Australian Mag’s take on the Keith Patterson March comment was ‘He said legal case would be in action from this month if it goes ahead. But he sees the premier league not letting it get that far and takeover done by March’.

You said that and Australian Mag’s confirmed it so it looks as though you were right.

In any event, I’ll look at the show again, if for no other reason than to be inspired by Keith Patterson’s enthusiasm and confidence – despite the EPL’s bullying.

If that’s the case, we are stuffed for Tuesday night – especially if Wilson is missing. Maybe that’s why Gale isn’t starting tonight?

Any rumours as to why we have only named 7 subs?

Good point – you can have 5 subs in this competition – and it could go to 120+ minutes.

The rumour is Bruce is stupid.
    Could be true that one.

So, in today’s money, Supermac would’ve cost about £2.5m.

I remember reading about him signing for £180k and he was closely followed by the £140k Tony Green. Joe Harvey, though he bought some pups in his time, came up trumps with those two.

It’s a real shame we couldn’t see more of Tony Green, whose gait when shimmying, was, if I remember rightly similar to one certain Kenny Dalgliesh.
