A letter Premier League chief Richard Masters sent to Blaydon MP Liz Twist has surfaced online today. That letter, dated December 23rd of last year, is in response to a letter the local MP sent to Masters addressing the concerns of her constituents involving the Premier League.
NUFC HQ has provided the full letter via their Twitter account.
While MP Twist’s concerns primarily regard Newcastle United, Richard Masters first tackles subjects concerning the Premier League as a whole. He responds to questions about the EPL assisting EFL clubs as well as the rejected proposition dubbed Project Big Picture.
In the final two paragraphs, Masters responds to what was the primary concern of Twist and her constituents, the Premier League’s Owner’s and Director’s tests, and the failed Saudi takeover of Newcastle United. On that front, Masters provides very little insight, as is expected since there are unresolved legal disputes between Newcastle and the Premier League.
The last paragraph is where Masters references the current situation with Newcastle United specifically, and their arbitration case against the league. He doesn’t reveal much but does say that he wants it resolved in a timely manner.
Here is the final paragraph from the letter posted above:
“In relation to any specific ongoing legal matters, as you will probably know, Newcastle United recently announced that they have commenced arbitration proceedings against the Premier League in connection with a proposed takeover of the club.
“Given that the parties have agreed that the arbitration is to be a confidential process, there is little very little (if anything) I am able to disclose to you regarding the case.
“Arbitrations (including those held by the FA) are generally heard in private, and this is no exception.
“There are generally good reasons why parties choose to have disputes resolved by way of confidential arbitration: for example, it can be more informal, it protects sensitive information and it encourages honesty and frankness from parties and witnesses.
“I would like to reiterate that it is the Premier League’s desire to have the matter resolved in a timely manner.”

Ordinarily the club would fall under the scope of FA rules but surely we have here a dispute over the EPL’s behaviour in relation to the application of of those rules.
Anyway, we could go on all night so let’s wait and see how things pan out.

Comment #123Tonight has all the hallmarks of a relegation 6 pointer – our best chance will be to put out a team that out works the Blades on the pitch; if we don’t it’s going to be a long night

Comment #129Speaks volumes that our up and coming players cant get game time – Allan had been at League One side Accrington Stanley, with midfielder Jack Young (Tranmere) and goalkeeper Jake Turner (Morecambe) brought back from stint in League Two.
We recall these and and yet Lejuene- the kid according to Brucie!! – a plyer who is ready for the first team stay out on loan

Comment #131Even if masks work, cases would still be going up massively. The reason the virus keeps going up isn’t because masks don’t work but because the weather’s getting colder. The same thing has happened every year for as long as we know. It’s called flu season for that reason. Until any of these things are proven beyond doubt not to work, we should just do them. If it turns out they don’t work there’s nothing lost, if they do work then you might just save a life.

Comment #137what the f@ck is that team????
Dummett at Wingback? he’s the least attacking fullback in the PL. Can you see him overlapping?
5 at the back.
Only 2 attackminded players.
sean instead of Matty.
hendrick instead of Miggy.

Thought Matty Longstaff would start and probably Gayle too.
It’s a bit negative unless Longstaff is playing in a no 10 role
Hendrick yay, surely Anderson could have had his place.

Comment #152According to the BBC we’re not even disguising we’re going 5-4-1, they’ve gone
3-5-2.
5-4-1 is the system I used when I was Scarborough manager and I got drawn against a PL club in the 3rd round of the cup.

Comment #157Not too sure about Longstaff (S) and Hendricks in midfield. If Fraser is not 100% fit it could be a loooong night for us.
It will also be a long 90 minutes for Bruceless. He will be expected to beat the bottom team without a league win all season so if he doesn’t no amount of excuses will hide is ineptitude. The same can also be said of Ashley, Barnes & Bishop. After all they spent £4m to bring Bruceless here, and it will cost them to sack him.
HWTL!
Bruceless, Ashley, Barnes and Bishop out.
