Bruce Gives Selection Hint During Press Conference For Man United

Steve Bruce went with Dwight Gayle to replace the injured Callum Wilson in our defeat at Chelsea last Monday. It was the striker’s first start of the season and he got a good run out before being replaced by Joelinton in the 64th minute.

Bruce had hinted during his press conference last week that Gayle would get an opportunity to ‘step up’ during Wilson’s absence. However, Dwight’s performance against Chelsea, perhaps understandably, was ineffective.

The 31-year-old had just one shot and only 16 touches before Joelinton was brought on in his place. As he was in an uncustomary wider role out to the right, he didn’t provide adequate protection for Emil Krafth.

It was a challenging evening for Gayle, who was asked to fill a role that doesn’t really suit him. Bruce was asked during his press conference for Manchester United whether Gayle did enough to warrant another opportunity at Old Trafford. This was his response:

“It was always going to be difficult for Dwight. We’re aware that it was his first start of the season.

“Dwight, at the start of the season, had a knee operation. That’s been, unfortunately, too many of our players.

“So we knew it was going to be a difficult ask for Dwight. But he stuck at it. He got 65 minutes under his belt and we always know he can score a goal.

“He’s got some minutes under his belt which only can help.”

From these comments, Bruce seems to indicate that Gayle is in contention for a second start at Manchester United. Maybe, Bruce will tweak the system to get the best out of Gayle, who does have goals in him.

Newcastle will need to get back on the scoresheet after being blanked by the Blues. Prior to Monday’s defeat, Newcastle had scored 7 goals in our four previous matches.

Manchester United are not as impenetrable as Chelsea, who have yet to be breached under Thomas Tuchel, excluding an own goal at Sheffield.

One area that Newcastle could struggle with on Sunday is keeping the Red Devils quiet in attack. They can score in bunches as we witnessed at St. James’ Park in October.

Last night, they dismantled a good Real Sociedad team 4-0 in the Europa League, which is concerning considering Newcastle are prone to defensive lapses this season.

So Newcastle will have to be much more disciplined at the back while being clinical with their chances to get anything at Old Trafford.

John O` Reilly hoisted his beer and said, Here`s to spending the rest of my life between the legs of my wife.
That won him the top prize at the pub for the best toast of the night. He went home and told his wife Mary, I won the prize for the best toast of the night,
She said, Aye did ya now, And what was your toast?
John said, Here`s to spending the rest of me life, sitting in church beside my wife,
Oh that is very special indeed John, Mary said
The next day, Mary ran into one of John`s drinking buddies on the street corner, The man chuckled leeringly and said, John won the prize the other night at the pub with a toast about you Mary,
She said, Aye he told me, and i was a bit surprised myself, you know he`s only been in there twice in the last four years, once i had to pull him by the ears to make him come, and the other time he fell asleep

Aye mate, that series with Harry Redknapp and the ex players – Razor Ruddock,, John Barnes, Mark Wright et al showed the issues.

Too much high living, bad diets, heavy drinking and not enough exercise.

hibbit what managers have we made walk before? Genuinely interested if fans have had an influence in the past? Especially under Ashley?

You could be exactly right but I just don’t know, If he has sat here for this long when it’s clear it isn’t working for him and he claims to be a fan and hold the club close to his heart he would of already walked. So why would he if he had fans screaming for his head? Like I said you could be right.

Tackle John Barnes and Ally McCoist are another two, just seems like as soon as they stop playing they think “boll#£&ks to it going to eat and drink what I want”.

he is not going to walk whatever and will only be sacked if there is a very real danger of relegation (more than there is now).

If will be a disaster for the club if we get relegated , however it’s looking more and more likely under this regime , playing Gayle on the right is never going to work so I hope Bruce realises (or someone tells him) we will need to change formation to accommodate. We could be 3rd bottom in 2 games time

Jane, I don’t think Steve Bruce will be sacked this season. He’ll be told to do one in the summer with a £1 million pay off and little note saying “All the best in your future endeavours and thanks for nothing by the way. All the best PIF, Staveley, Reubens”

Matty Longstaff has 2 senior team goals to his name.

    Both against Man United.

Got to be first name on the team sheet – they’re actually scared of him.

Sunderland are searching for a head of analysis and data, and a lead data scientist, as the club takes a new approach.

Bloody hell. The mackems are recruiting scientists.
Are they building a site of mass cheesy chips production?

Actually it’s quite impressive. At least they’re not just throwing magic beans in the air or taking the gloves off like Bruce.

There’s no wonder the youngsters who go through the ranks here struggle to realise there potential with how the club structure is and the down right awful facilities they train in daily.

We know more than anything we are desperately lagging behind on modern day training facilities and on top of that the misery the club finds itself in with this feel of stuck in purgatory.

Can’t be good seeing the fans 99% of the time disgruntled and unhappy.

We just need some TLC and Queen Amanda will bring that.

After listening to some of the great Sir Bobby tribute videos yesterday it just drives it home further how much of a fool this Gobsh1te is.
