Elias Sorensen has added a goal and an assist to his season tallies over the past two matches for Almere City. On Tuesday, Elias started at Helmond Sport in a 2-1 defeat. In the 24th minute, the young striker should have scored when a cross found him a few feet from the goal. He one-time it straight to the keeper’s feet in what was a poor effort from Elias.
Helmond Sport scored a few minutes later to make it 1-0 at halftime. They added a goal late in the second to give them a comfortable 2 goal lead. Sorensen was able to help bring one back with an assist on a corner in the 86th minute. Elias was at the near post and flicked the ball on from the corner to Thomas Verheydt, who headed it in to make it 2-1 which ended up being the final score.
Today, Almere City had a better time of it with a 4-2 win at FC Oss. Sorenson was brought on in the 82nd minute just after Almere City had taken a 3-2 lead. Elias put the match out of reach, albeit deep into stoppage time, with his 4th goal of the season. The win moves Almere City back into 2nd in the Dutch second division.
Freddie Woodman and Swansea had an afternoon to forget at Huddersfield today. The score was tied 1-1 at halftime but the second half was a different story. The Terriers scored three goals in a seven-minute surge to seal all three points. Woodman could do nothing about the goal in the first half but reacted late on a long-range strike from Lewis O’Brien in the 48th minute.
Swansea’s defense then did Woodman no favors on the third goal just 4 minutes later as they failed to clear a speculative long ball that eventually was played into the path of Duane Holmes. The striker retrieved the pass and blasted the ball past the helpless Woodman, who did get a hand on the shot but not enough to keep it out. Holman then scored his second in two minutes with a beautiful strike from very deep that flew into the far corner.
The defeat keeps Swansea in 4th in the Championship table as Watford jumped them yesterday with a 2-1 win over Derby. This was the first time Swansea had conceded more than two goals in the league this season.
Kelland Watts and Plymouth continued their unbeaten streak with a 0-0 draw at Rochdale today. It was the third straight clean sheet for Kell and the Pilgrims as they remain undefeated in the last nine league matches.
Watts was handed his 35th straight start today as he put in an excellent display at Spotland, where Newcastle were held to a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup last season. Kelland had 116 touches while attempting 99 passes. He had 6 clearances to go with winning 6 aerial duels. He was also fouled five times by Rochdale.
The point moves Plymouth to 10th place, which is quite admirable considering they were just promoted back to League One this past season. They have turned their season around after a 6 match losing streak in November/December. They are five points behind Sunderland, who occupy the final promotion place. Sunderland did defeat Burton Albion 3-0 away today. I hope they enjoyed that.

100% something was going on mate.
Do we really believe that the consortium and Ashley being in Nassau all at the same time and arriving on the same day at different times, was a coincidence?
Some coincidence that IMO.
Nassau is renowned for finalising business deals and plenty of football deals have been completed there and many more.
Staveley will want this club no matter what league we are in and I believe in the worst case scenario we will still see Staveley and the Reubens as our owners.

It will rankle me to the day they are both gone mate as I cannot not fathom for one second why we would offer them new deals at the time they signed them? I was shocked at the time and especially with the Shelvey one as I’ve wanted him replaced since the Rafa days.
Baffled me

Comment #403Mund, I’d take the same. But it didn’t work out that way before.
As I said, as it stands, being relegated just means that we play Barnsley. It doesn’t mean Ashley will go. It doesn’t even mean Bruce will go.
If it meant PIF I would take relegation too, ASAP.

Fulham have only won 2 of those and apart from Everton, who were pathetic, they’ve been lucky especially last night cos that was a nailed on penalty for Sheffield.
One thing we do have is match winners in ASM, Miggy and Willock. We also have good defenders as long as they are set up right.
We won’t go down !

Plane spotting update (as promised). EyesAirplane
So the Reuben yacht arrived back at Port Nassau at 0:25, shortly after, at 1:05 Mike Ashley’s jet left Nassau airport, the Reuben plane left that same airport at 1:30.
Coincidence?

Comment #406Mund are the Reubens willing to stump up without PIF coming in, even if we cost say 200m, if we went down? I would love if they would but are you certain of their commitment without the Saudis?

Comment #407Mund, a player sold with a longish contract demands a bigger value than one with a small one and I think the plan was to offload both but they didn’t happen.

Sadly we don’t live in a world like that 🙁 but I think we will be ok and the Wolves game is massive as we play twice now before Fulham play and the Wolves game is a 6 pointer for me.

To many variables mate. We just have to be patient and I know fans will hate that word now, but it’s all we can do. It’s made things harder with performances on the pitch to be any kind of positive but all we can do is sit and wait.

Comment #414I was quite confident we would stay up after Everton but losing our only real through the middle striker is devastating. The fulham nephew was on last night. “enjoy your Sunday”. The bo11ocks. We’ve said we’ll have a beer next year together either way. I don’t even know him well because he grew up in London so maybe Ashley has brought my family closer together. Gee thanks Mikey.

Comment #415Just to be clear Dougie was not advocating he wanted relegating last night, he was just expressing his feelings that if it meant it would mean the end of Ashley he would take Relegation, i also backed Dougie in his opinion, Tsunkie@391 clearly understood, and was backed up by Mund@395, There are no fans who want to see Newcastle relegated, but many fans would except Relegation if it gauranteed the end of the despicable Ashley.

You really never do miss an opportunity. Rafa had to flog off wijnaldum, Sissoko, Townsend, Janmatt + others and sensibly bought a team equipped for the champo like gayle and ritchie and some bargain basement people like dubs, fede, shar. By comparison bruce had a fortune at villa and they came 14th in the champo.

Comment #422Morning Mund, do we know this for certain? Is there proof he’s been in the Bahamas? His jet is hired out regularly to others.
You know I’m in the positivity lobby, but I refuse to clutch at straws without some viable evidence. I know he was in UAE there is an article including a picture. He was there to try and tie up a distribution arrangement for Sports Direct. I’ve seen no proof that he’s been near the Bahamas.
Is the Reubens jet to Miami, supposed to be him being “dropped off” as he spends most of his Winters there? Is there anything other than the usual internet/Twitter speculation?
Just asking. I really want to believe somethings going on, but can’t see anything here.

I suppose there isn’t anything concrete other than what’s out there, to I guess make your own mind up.
It’s been said it’s at different times but nothing solid to confirm that.
OP
I’m a massive Bond fan, my Grandad brought me up on them as a kid, back in the day when there was one on basically every Saturday lol
I loved Sean Connery and he is arguably the best but for me It’s Roger Moore all day long followed closely by Daniel Craig.
Lots of reports who the next will be with the likes of Tom Hardy and Edris Elba touted to become the next 007.

Comment #427From a neutral, from the Mag article.
‘Fulham’s defence is really quite strong for a team in the relegation zone, their goal difference is healthy and they’re hitting form – Brighton and Newcastle will be nervous, maybe Burnley too.
I’d like to see Fulham stay up, they play some nice football. Newcastle on the other hand have a team filled with good players, but play turgid football.’

Comment #429I would take relegation all day if it meant getting rid of the 3 fools.
Most of us knew exactly what was coming when Brucie was giving the job after his luck ran out and he ruined what he inherited there was only ever going to be one outcome.
All we can do now is pray we get taken over and put this nightmare behind us.

Ah yes, of course, revolving lights, I just hope it’s correct!
From earlier I also feel Pearson & Jabba could do a good holding job at Toon and get them out of the mire and maybe beyond that also.
One things for sure Bruce is well on his way down McClarren Road with his flipping hard hard down on the accelerator!!! Grrrr

Comment #435Rotonda, you are turning it back to rafa, not me.
The point is that Rafa had a super budget to build one of the best teams even in the championship. That’s the point, the budget, not rafa who can’t be criticised.
If we go down again, there is
1. No guarantee that Ashley will go
2. No chance that we will have decent funds unless we get big bucks for our 3 main stars
3. No guarantee that even if we sell our best, that Ashley will reinvest like last time, given what covid did.
If we got a better owner, then I would take relegation right now, but it’s a dangerous wishing game. It could mean Ashley, Bruce and always being in the top 10, but never in the top 2 at the business end of the season. Purgatory for maybe 5 years, and we are wishing relegation on ourselves? No thanks.
Magic, there is no promise of an Ashley free nufc in the championship and Dougie was getting pretty aggressive and actively cheering a Fulham win, based on nothing but a supposition.
