Loan Update – Forward Continues to Show Signs, Keeper Struggles, And Defender Helps Keep Another Clean Sheet

Elias Sorensen has added a goal and an assist to his season tallies over the past two matches for Almere City. On Tuesday, Elias started at Helmond Sport in a 2-1 defeat. In the 24th minute, the young striker should have scored when a cross found him a few feet from the goal. He one-time it straight to the keeper’s feet in what was a poor effort from Elias.

Helmond Sport scored a few minutes later to make it 1-0 at halftime. They added a goal late in the second to give them a comfortable 2 goal lead. Sorensen was able to help bring one back with an assist on a corner in the 86th minute. Elias was at the near post and flicked the ball on from the corner to Thomas Verheydt, who headed it in to make it 2-1 which ended up being the final score.

Today, Almere City had a better time of it with a 4-2 win at FC Oss. Sorenson was brought on in the 82nd minute just after Almere City had taken a 3-2 lead. Elias put the match out of reach, albeit deep into stoppage time, with his 4th goal of the season. The win moves Almere City back into 2nd in the Dutch second division.

Freddie Woodman and Swansea had an afternoon to forget at Huddersfield today. The score was tied 1-1 at halftime but the second half was a different story. The Terriers scored three goals in a seven-minute surge to seal all three points. Woodman could do nothing about the goal in the first half but reacted late on a long-range strike from Lewis O’Brien in the 48th minute.

Swansea’s defense then did Woodman no favors on the third goal just 4 minutes later as they failed to clear a speculative long ball that eventually was played into the path of Duane Holmes. The striker retrieved the pass and blasted the ball past the helpless Woodman, who did get a hand on the shot but not enough to keep it out. Holman then scored his second in two minutes with a beautiful strike from very deep that flew into the far corner.

The defeat keeps Swansea in 4th in the Championship table as Watford jumped them yesterday with a 2-1 win over Derby. This was the first time Swansea had conceded more than two goals in the league this season.

Kelland Watts and Plymouth continued their unbeaten streak with a 0-0 draw at Rochdale today. It was the third straight clean sheet for Kell and the Pilgrims as they remain undefeated in the last nine league matches.

Watts was handed his 35th straight start today as he put in an excellent display at Spotland, where Newcastle were held to a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup last season. Kelland had 116 touches while attempting 99 passes. He had 6 clearances to go with winning 6 aerial duels. He was also fouled five times by Rochdale.

The point moves Plymouth to 10th place, which is quite admirable considering they were just promoted back to League One this past season. They have turned their season around after a 6 match losing streak in November/December. They are five points behind Sunderland, who occupy the final promotion place. Sunderland did defeat Burton Albion 3-0 away today. I hope they enjoyed that.

This is the piece about a “Rafa Return” – “I’d love it just love it” as one famous guy once said! However it seems a remote situation with the history between Ashley & Rafa but one things for sure something needs to be done and done fast whilst there’s still a chance to get things right. It’s no good waiting until there’s not enough games left.

Does Ashley ever learn? There are some things you can’t gamble with and I football club is top of the list.

If you can’t get Rafa back Mr Ashley get Pearson in with Jabba I feel they could be good together. But Rafa will always be my No 1 choice!

Can’t understand anyone saying take relegation to get rid of Ashley, know where you are coming from, but its happened twice before and he’s still here, dont see why he would go this time. Only thing that will get rid is a buy out and most likely means we have to stay in the premier league

Parker will take great delight if he relegates us. Do you recall the way he rubbished our fans, on theEast Stand side at SJP, when he was with us? I don’t think we’ve ever been forgiven for that!

By the way, I hope they have had meetings and that it’s a sign of something happening, just not seeing the evidence.

A couple of Months ago, someone suggested that the Reubens and PCP could buy a controlling stake in the club, say 51% between them, so that they could take over the management and day to day running of the club. Further down the line when all the geopolitical stuffs been sorted between Saudi and Qatar and the PL issues are all worked out, then Ashley could then sell the remaining 49% to PIF and if they wanted a larger slice, the Reubens could sell part of their stake. I thought something along those lines was a sensible way forward for everyone as it would prevent the continuing decay of the club that is apparent across all levels.
This is particularly possible when Ashley’s loan is removed from the selling price. I don’t know the latest figure but assuming it’s around £120M – then his actual selling price is reportedly £304M minus the loan £120M = £184M, 51% = just under £94M minus the £17M deposit he already has = £77M. For someone like the Reubens, that’s easily affordable as a short/medium term measure.

Re relegation. You’re not guaranteed to come back to the prem it’s very competitive and could take years!
We have to avoid that at all cost. Ashley won’t sell if we go down as won’t drop the price!

It’s a bit early I know but I’d like to dedicate this to Bruce.

Someone should play this over a PA at the training ground, on repeat.

John J…..i do remember Parker having a go at our fans but no worse than Brucie.
He played for us and when the fans gave him grief he reacted he shouldn’t have but he did.
I would still take him over Brucie all day

Exactly, relegation has to be worst case and as fans need to be behind the team as much as we possibly can to see them stay up, Really we need a new manager to ensure we do stay up

All the PR and insider information surely originates from Ashley’s cronies as every single mention by association implants the Sports Direct connection.

Ashley wants Rafa back ? Really ? He let him go in the first place.
    That’s just a tease.

    It’s all bollox.

Simon at 444, spot on. Thats why I objected to a so called fan last night, wanting Fulham to win.

I mean why would we want that???

As I said there’s nothing guaranteed, except that we get to play Barnsley and Co and have to listen to some muppet co-commentator slagging us off like last time.

It could be Ashley, Bruce and 7th position for the next two years. I’d rather not wish that possibility on us by wanting Fulham to win, or cheering it, as he did.

    Money talks and bullshit walks.

If Ashley wanted Rafa, he’d get him, written guarantees over lies, could swing it.

    Show him the money.

I don’t for 1 minute believe Ashley wants Rafa back, I’m 100% certain he’s kicking himself for not supporting him.

For tonight’s game i definitely wouldnt play Gayle as he doesn’t offer anything through out the game , Id put Carroll on from the start get Miggy and Maxi up top along side him to play off him , or put Frazer on from the start keep Maxi back for the last half hour or so , Id also drop Darlow and put Dubs in we nee his voice at the back shouting out instructions to his defence …

The problem is we can’t get behind the team because we’re not in the ground. This is where the manager and his team need to build the players up to a fighting state before the match not at halftime when we’re 2 down!

Theres ya contract, you’ve final say on all players in and out etc etc, here’s double your previous contract, we’ll give you a rolling one year deal so you can walk if things don’t progress as you desire.

Anything else I can do for you, Sir.

That would be a canny start for Ashley to get Rafa,.

I’d like to see Dubs back, Darlow has been great for us but id try something different to try get a reaction out of the players.
I think Dubs organises the defence better he has a mistake in him but overall I think he is the better keeper anything is worth a try at this point.

That Daily Mail article seems to be saying that it’s ManU’s back room staff (at least 3) that have had to isolate.

Easy solution, we’ll lend them the 3 Steve’s for tonight’s game, see how quickly they can dismantle a largely well functioning team?

Might get the 3 points then. 😉

Good morning all, it`s my birthday today so i`m hoping for a handy 3 points from the lads as a little present to stop the stress levels rising to a seriously worrying level .
Looking at Cabbage Patch`s record at Old Trafford it`s not looking good at all, i just hope we play decent a pick up at least a point.
I`m on early start tomorrow so i wont be having a drink while watching the game though i think i might need one.

Ashley sees Bruce as a safe pair of hands.

I see Bruce as more of a gamble than a manager who’s never managed in the PL.

No expirience is better than the worst record.

The ones saying they’d take relegation to get rid of Ashley need to think of the consequences.

There is no assurance of a quick promotion and in the meantime,

Most of the clubs in the Prem will grow and leave Newcastle United behind them

There will be developments in forming a Euro wide competition…

Leaving NUFC trailing way behind other clubs.

    Think, think think!

We are not taking relegation to get rid of Ashley personally i am taking it to get rid of Bruce hes that bad his excuse laden tripe the way the team is set up the way the team plays I could go on and on he’s an embarrassment and a total yes man
Tell me what all that crap was about doing it his way after 18 months
His pathetic excuse was the players were used to playing that way
What was all that about thats what a bloody manager and coaches are for it cannot be hard to say play further up the field its called tactics which you work on
What did he think his players would say I’m not used to this its harder to pass to my team mate I’m list
    Rubbish he’s an utter clown
Now relegation may finally see fat man go who knows
But I make no apology for wanting relegation the whole club needs a radical overhaul especially the staff they all need to go and be replaced
With forward thinking coaches with new ideas
Football has changed but still some of the English managers are still living in the 70s big Sam and Bruce are two of the worst
If fatty sacked Bruce and the new team kept us up great but if he doesn’t relegation is the answer
BRUCE OUT BRUCE OUT BRUCE OUT
