This is the team Steve Bruce has named for tonight’s match at Old Trafford against Manchester United. It has just one change from the defeat at Chelsea with Joelinton coming in for Dwight Gayle.
It appears that Bruce will stick with the 4-3-3 formation that he’s used over the past four matches. That didn’t suit Dwight Gayle, who’s basically a poacher, so it’s Joelinton in for him.
Newcastle need Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almiron, and Joe Willock to pose more of a threat than at Chelsea. Likewise, the backline will need to be solid against this lethal Red Devils attack.
The bench is a decent one attack-wise but there are few options in defense. It’s a shame that Matty Longstaff doesn’t even make the squad for this one.
Here is who Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has selected for the hosts.
If there was ever a time to put in a heroic display, tonight is the night. Newcastle are just 3 points out of the relegation places with Fulham rising from the depths to pull back 7 points in just over a week.
Now is the time for players to step up and show some passion for the shirt. That has to happen as soon as Paul Tierney blows his whistle. None of this passive nonsense from last week. It’s do-or-die time for Newcastle United.

Comment #41On the interview Jacobs clarified the following:
– PIF are at the table and have never left
– PIF want to buy the club no matter what division they are in. But want a cheaper price if relegated
– The delay is the NUFC lawyers who have spent 2 months gathering evidence for their case.
– The biggest sticking point is the piracy. If piracy ends in Saudi then nothing can stop the takeover.
– Things ‘will become very clear’ in March
– His sources at Bein Sports have always told them they still think the takeover will eventually go through.
– Qatar and KSF now getting on is significant for the takeover
– Amanda has told him she is now very confident the takeover will eventually go through

Comment #45I would take a thumping tonight if guaranteed Bruce going cause if he stays then we go through the same feelings each game, not confident and another game gone.
just waiting for the pre match Bruce interview to give me a slap that in this manager we trust

Caulkin and Staveley have a good relationship I believe and Caulkin seems very downbeat about it all at the moment. I’d find it strange if she’s given a positive comment towards Jacobs out of the blue and not to someone like Caulkin who’s more respected in the nufc community. If she has told Caulkin I’d imagine he would have said something.
Not saying he’s lying or it isn’t true, just it’d be quite strange in my eyes.

Your post is totally the opposite from what i was reading on Friday night when a few posters were implying that the takeover deal was in doubt.
It`s little wonder fans heads are done in with constant conflicting reports appearing every day.

Comment #54Amanda? Is the chronic still pushing this story.
I thought the Saudi’s said it was due to financial restraints so they pulled the plug.
Ashley is trying to sue the premier league, that should be confused with the deal is still on. There is no proof of this apart from sites like the athletic and the chronicle that survive on clickbait

Comment #56The interesting thing he raised was about Hoffman. He was asked if his appointment on June 1st was to derail the bid.
But he slipped up. Because he said his sources told him the deal went south during the last week of April 2020. He later said, Hoffman was appointed on April 24th, but didn’t start work until June 1st.
So for Hoffman to leak information during that time before he started, means someone within the PL was leaking it to him.
And if that was happening ‘it would be very easy for DeMarco to prove’
If it did happen, the PL would lose the case immediately.

Too odd isn’t it. Clearly something had changed in that Everton game and now we’ve gone backwards again. The difference at Everton I saw was an animated jones, don’t see why his approach would change after a positive match, it’d be more of the same wouldn’t it. I’m likely being a bit ‘conspiracy theory’ but it just doesn’t add up.

Fraser not being a Bruce signing – my thoughts to when I saw the starting line/up
Doesn’t seem to rate Dummet – our best old fashioned defender
Shelvey must be his love-child – first on the team sheet
Not the team I would of started
More fun watching the pottery throw down !!!

Comment #62Bruce has stuck with the same system since Jones has arrived. Goodness knows how much input Jones has in regard to team selection etc; but if Jones does have a degree of control, the fact the side is sticking with the same system, suggests Jones is having an influence.
Normally you would expect Bruce to revert to a back 5 by now.

Comment #64Not implying anything Jacobs said is incorrect, just find it weird he would have heard positive from Amanda but Caulkin, who has good relations with her, hasn’t said anything along those lines recently. Didn’t reference the takeover, but Caulkins post about our current plight and saying how it’s all so dull just comes across as not too positive for a change in the near future.

Comment #65We’ll get thrashed tonight. One thing we can be sure of is that Man Utd won’t take their foot off the pedal and be as generous as some other sides that have been content to use the fixture agains us as a training exercise.

Jarra, funny you mention that. I’ve had a bit of a sneaking suspicion that Bruce could be released tonight — if that eventuality happens.
Obviously losing this match is expected… but if it’s a hammering… I think it could be Bruce’s last game.

Comment #71If ever there was a time to play Man.U. it’s now.
They are a team who, frankly, have struggled recently in the league, and have proved to be open at the back against a determined counter attack.
De Gea is lucky to retain his place in goal. He’s a mistake waiting to happen.
Bruce will relish getting one over his old club. Nobody expects us to win this one. Just the time to prove them all wrong.

Comment #73So to summarise if relegation threatens the takeover.
– PIF would want a lower price that is value for money. The sticking point then becomes Ashley who always over values the club. If they don’t agree a new price, then PIF would walk.
– At present, a price of £305 million has been agreed in writing should the club be a PL club when the takeover is approved.

Comment #75Nothing Caulkin said says anything of that sort.
Let’s remember this is the guy who constantly fed us updates during the O&D tests but has been very very quiet since the Saudis pulled out.
He is staying clear of saying anything positive or negative with regards of the takeover.
Jacobs knows people within PIF, BeiN and the PL and let’s not forget this is the man who was against it for so long saying it won’t happen but his tune has changed over the last month or so.
