Joelinton, Krafth, And Shelvey Get Starts At Manchester United

This is the team Steve Bruce has named for tonight’s match at Old Trafford against Manchester United. It has just one change from the defeat at Chelsea with Joelinton coming in for Dwight Gayle.

It appears that Bruce will stick with the 4-3-3 formation that he’s used over the past four matches. That didn’t suit Dwight Gayle, who’s basically a poacher, so it’s Joelinton in for him.

Newcastle need Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almiron, and Joe Willock to pose more of a threat than at Chelsea. Likewise, the backline will need to be solid against this lethal Red Devils attack.

The bench is a decent one attack-wise but there are few options in defense. It’s a shame that Matty Longstaff doesn’t even make the squad for this one.

Here is who Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has selected for the hosts.

If there was ever a time to put in a heroic display, tonight is the night. Newcastle are just 3 points out of the relegation places with Fulham rising from the depths to pull back 7 points in just over a week.

Now is the time for players to step up and show some passion for the shirt. That has to happen as soon as Paul Tierney blows his whistle. None of this passive nonsense from last week. It’s do-or-die time for Newcastle United.

Howay The Lads!

Good team effort hard pressing, same again second half. Gonna keep looking at the positives and what an engine Almiron has

    JR.

Decent closing down from the start, everyone has put a shift in, not everyone is having a great game though.

well at least that looked like some proper football for the most part…Jonjo and Kraft still the week links and like most…I think we need Dubs leadership back between the posts. Lewis has stepped up his game to day as well so far.

We can be proud of that first. Not perfect, but you can see the effort. I’m expecting an onslaught in the second half and we’ll miss the height of Joelinton if Fraser comes on

Just how good is almiron. ASM offering very little aside from his goal. He needs to get involved more.

Shelvey as usual, our worst player.

Tim Howard and Danny Higginbotham both said we’ve been the best team, which is nice to hear. Glad it’s not ‘The Two Robbies’, Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe. Can’t stand either of them. We get no praise from them ever on NBCS

Moonraker I’m really not convinced they do. I cam just see another sht show next match, or the one after that. Been like that all season. Hope they have but once burned twice as shy.

Manx – Maguire gets away with murder off the ball all the time. VAR never catches him out.

Better half than expected! Let’s keep the press going and high up the pitch, be a bit braver in committing forward to support almiron when he breaks and there’s no reason we leave after 90 minutes with at least a point.

    Brilliant from Jake Humphrey

Scholes “You have to give a lot of praise to Bruce.”

Humphrey “Yes, Newcastle have been much better since Graham Jones came in”

So much better desire and application which was missing against Chelsea

Maguire and Lindelof do not look comfortable I actually think a fully fit Carroll would cause them untold problems but he just hasn’t got the energy for a press which we need

Almiron though what a player finally getting to play his natural positions and you see what a player he is ASM apart from his goal needs to do more

That’s the manager’s job though and we know he’s not up to it.
He’s reacted co we are in trouble. He should be whipping them up all the time. Too relaxed! Gotta be more intense! Like we are ! lol

For once ill say I’d rather have Joelinton back in the secondhalf. I’ve a feeling we might miss his height, hold up and physicality if he doesn’t come back on.

But if he doesn’t Fraser has to be the switch, this defense is weak to pacey players.

But why didn’t the players appeal when Lascelles was fouled? ManU players would’ve be all over the ref if it happened to them.
