Newcastle put up a fight for close to an hour but Manchester United took control in the second half. The Red Devils asserted their dominance after Newcastle’s encouraging first-half performance which bled over into the early stages of the second. The lads were ultimately unable to stay competitive and the Red Devils added two goals in the second forty-five to hand the Magpies another defeat.
Newcastle came out unchanged after an encouraging first half had them level at the break. The restart was impressive with the Magpies spending the opening minutes in the Manchester end which resulted in a decent effort from Saint-Maximin in the 49th minute, though it was easily saved by de Gea.
Steve Bruce made his first change ten minutes into the second half. Joelinton was removed for Ryan Fraser. The Brazilian had his moments in the first half despite appearing to be hampered by an injury.
Just after the change, Newcastle had another defensive lapse. They were comfortably set in a block behind the ball when Nemanja Matic played a pass across the box. Jamal Lewis jumped up but a slight touch from Bruno Fernandes allowed the ball to reach Daniel James, who was unmarked. The Welsh international’s shot sailed past Darlow to give the hosts another lead.
Manchester United wrestled control of the match in the lead up to the goal and this time they didn’t allow Newcastle an easy route back into the game. Newcastle struggled to get hold of the ball and the hosts began to dominate.
In the 73rd minute, the Red Devils added a third goal after Joe Willock slid toward Marcus Rashford in the box. It’s questionable whether Willock actually made contact with Rashford but a penalty was awarded. Bruno Fernandes took the penalty to make it 3-1 which put the match out of reach for the Magpies.
Steve Bruce brought Jacob Murphy on for Allan Saint-Maximin after the goal. Soon after Murphy came on Bruce brought Dwight Gayle on for Miguel Almiron. The changes did little to affect the outcome as the final stages of the game consisted of Newcastle desperately trying to deny their hosts a fourth goal.

Bruce is in charge.
But if Jones is now in charge, picking the team, he should leave with Bruce.

Comment #46Dubravka has to be number 1 points are too valuable for a keeper learning on the job and making those schoolboy errors he made tonight I’m sorry but Darlow can’t tie Dubravkas shoe laces.

Comment #47Has Ashley done a McClaren and left it too late or has he relieved Bruce ..
We learn from our mistakes in life so its said.
Has Ashley learned from his experience when he left things too late under McClaren for Rafa to turn it round ?

Comment #48I can honestly say I’ve never gotten to the stage of actively hating a manager before. Disliked them for sure and wanted them out but purely because things weren’t working. Bruce is a different beast altogether. Seeing those photos of him laughing away with the oppo manager after we’ve been beaten is sickening.
Finally puts to bed the he’s really a Newcastle fan defence. No fan would be acting like that if they’d masterminded everything we’ve seen this and last season.

Steve Bruce: ‘We’ll have a look at the goalkeeper. He (Darlow) will be disappointed to be beaten at the near post for the first goal. It’s been a difficult week, but we have games coming up where we think we can take points.

Comment #50Decent for an hour or so then did the usual fade into our shell party trick that we do most games and got outplayed in the end.
Miggy by far our best player again. Joelinton was decent until he got injured, some good play to create for us but as usual nobody really to continue it other than Miggy.
Don’t get why he put Fraser on and not Carroll against 2 absolutely shocking Man United CB’s who can’t tackle for sh*t and get scared whenever another human plays football near them but that’s Bruce isn’t it.
Softest penalty of the season possibly but our players didn’t even complain about it but they would’ve won the game anyway.
We’re going down. Fulham are so much better than us so unless we somehow pick up some points and catch Brighton or Burnley it’s looking like Championship football once again.

Comment #57100% I would take a relegation if it got rid of the parasite but it wouldn’t happen straight away.If we do go down(and we deserve to) and the cabbage is still head coach he will be retained to try and get us straight back up.Bruceless would not be able to do this cos he’s a fcukin imbecile. We would be in the championship for 3 seasons imo before Ashley would sell.Like everyone else I pray we stay up and a takeover happens, but if it doesn’t and we go down I think what I said previously will happen. Our only hope of staying up is if the parasite pulls the trigger in the next fortnight.

Comment #79I know guys,Benitez would come back in a heartbeat as long as the parasite wasn’t here, even it was in the Championship.Im convinced that down the line he will return and keegan will will be in the boardroom. We are entering the final stages of the parasites reign imo,one way or another.

Worst thing we could possibly do is rush him back after a hamstring injury so fully expect him to be thrown to the Wolves after seeing that.
