Newcastle Can’t Sustain First-Half Intensity And Lose 3-1 At Manchester United

Newcastle put up a fight for close to an hour but Manchester United took control in the second half. The Red Devils asserted their dominance after Newcastle’s encouraging first-half performance which bled over into the early stages of the second. The lads were ultimately unable to stay competitive and the Red Devils added two goals in the second forty-five to hand the Magpies another defeat.

Newcastle came out unchanged after an encouraging first half had them level at the break. The restart was impressive with the Magpies spending the opening minutes in the Manchester end which resulted in a decent effort from Saint-Maximin in the 49th minute, though it was easily saved by de Gea.

Steve Bruce made his first change ten minutes into the second half. Joelinton was removed for Ryan Fraser. The Brazilian had his moments in the first half despite appearing to be hampered by an injury.

Just after the change, Newcastle had another defensive lapse. They were comfortably set in a block behind the ball when Nemanja Matic played a pass across the box. Jamal Lewis jumped up but a slight touch from Bruno Fernandes allowed the ball to reach Daniel James, who was unmarked. The Welsh international’s shot sailed past Darlow to give the hosts another lead.

Manchester United wrestled control of the match in the lead up to the goal and this time they didn’t allow Newcastle an easy route back into the game. Newcastle struggled to get hold of the ball and the hosts began to dominate.

In the 73rd minute, the Red Devils added a third goal after Joe Willock slid toward Marcus Rashford in the box. It’s questionable whether Willock actually made contact with Rashford but a penalty was awarded. Bruno Fernandes took the penalty to make it 3-1 which put the match out of reach for the Magpies.

Steve Bruce brought Jacob Murphy on for Allan Saint-Maximin after the goal. Soon after Murphy came on Bruce brought Dwight Gayle on for Miguel Almiron. The changes did little to affect the outcome as the final stages of the game consisted of Newcastle desperately trying to deny their hosts a fourth goal.

Ashley had one job to do this season with the takeover hanging on by a thread. Keep Nufc in the PL. If you put Bruce in charge of man city tomorrow with their 10 point lead hed still F it up. Ashley always has the cash to buy shares or a failing business when he smells blood yet he cant see the trees crashing down on NUFC. Fulham like Bournemouth last season are far better teams than Nufc and luck will eventually run out.

    Spot on on Shelvey

Showboating at that/his pace is easily telegraphed. seriously skillful but this aint the Miss world showcase..we need blood and guts and effort..he needs a -king bomb up his arse.

2 shots 200 feet wide. Barn Door not wide enough?

best tell it like it is .

Man Utd got at Krafth early didn’t dey ..Dey do do dat der dont dey ..

Oh Sorry thats Liverpool aint it.

Mind I could see a penalty coming on as I was expecting some -king cheating and conning the ref who was only too happy to give it.

    Easy touch.

Very little on what injury it really is and we thought it could be hamstring but what if it wasn’t? Training hard in that video for someone who suffered a hamstring injury.

Who knows because the communication from the club on matters has always been dreadful so we never really know what the hell is going on and I can’t wait for that to change

    Dougie,

The only way RB would return is if Ashley has gone, so basically you think the takeover is happening for sure?
    When will Ashley be gone?

I doubt very much that Bruceless will be sacked until after the Wolves match as even if we were mid-table very few would have expected us to have beaten Manure.

Wolves is a different matter and we may well be in the brown stuff if we fail to get a result against them.

We are on the brink of going into the bottom 3 yet Cabbage Patch is laughing with Ole as if we had won the game.
If there was any proof needed about Bruce not giving a jot about our club then there it is right there.

I honestly don’t see Bruce getting sacked! As why wouldn’t he of gone already? Ashley is gambling and if he isn’t he has had assurances the club will still be purchased. They all met up for a crisis meeting and I’m guessing all scenarios where spoke about and ironed out in some way.

I can’t see him getting rid of Bruce and can see him in place till the end of the season

WL,I didn’t say that I thought the takeover is going to happen for sure,I have doubts that it will by PIF.What I do think is that the parasite does want rid of it and within three seasons whatever division we are in he will sell.

Those in the inner sanctum (the night shift) were hoping you’d be back.
You’ve missed some good nights, nee bovva, just good craic, tales, tunes and even some football, mostly along the lines of ‘Bruce out’.

    Start – 11pm prompt.

Still plenty to fight for EGB don’t give in just yet mate. We could be back to 6 points by the time Fulham play again and Fulham have a really thought fixture list where we have a few games where we should pick up points, or a better chance to.
