This is the team I suspect Bruce may name for tonight’s match at Old Trafford against Manchester United. It has three changes from Monday’s defeat at Chelsea.
While the team above is one I think Bruce will name, it’s not the one I hope he goes with. These types of matches don’t suit Jonjo Shelvey so maybe a recall for Sean Longstaff to play alongside his brother Matty could be an option.
Newcastle won’t have any injured players back for tonight but there are also no fresh injury concerns so Bruce has options. I expect a few changes from Chelsea but suspect he’ll stick with the 4-3-3 formation.
Manchester United could be without a handful of players with Paul Pogba ruled out and Edinson Cavani struggling with a muscle injury.
Newcastle United Injuries
Callum Wilson (hamstring), Javier Manquillo (ankle), Fabian Schar (knee), Fede Fernandez (hamstring)
Manchester United Injuries
Paul Pogba (thigh), Phil Jones (knee), Edison Cavani (muscle – late fitness test), Donny van de Beek (muscle – late fitness test), Scott McTominay (knock – late fitness test)
Our poll for this match has 80% expecting a loss. This means that Fulham could overtake us next weekend if we get nothing from Wolves at St. James’ Park on Saturday and they defeat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
A result tonight could alleviate that problem at least for another week. However, it’s not looking good for Newcastle at the moment as we’ve been dragged into a relegation fight after being 10 points clear just over a week ago. That’s what wins do as Fulham have picked up 7 points on us since last Saturday.

Comment #41I actually liked Parker when he played for us we weren’t doing spectacularly at the time and he put his back into it, I remember him getting clattered badly by a keeper at the post once in a 50/50, he took a bullet or two and didn’t shy away.

Comment #42I get the fact Darlow has stood in manfully but stats and performances show Dubravka is the number one and its business not friendships today, dubravka should come back in, he is a proper big game player.

Comment #43He’s taking us down, it’s an absolutely nailed on dead cert for me now Bruce is going to oversee our third relegation from this league.
We need action yesterday. Today will do and tomorrow as the final most final straw. What the fcuk is Ashley waiting for?

Comment #44Tsunki, aye Scotty used to come off the pitch after every game looking like how nev Southall used to go into one, absolutely shagged.
He’d put a fair few of our lads to shame for work rate these days. Proper engine room player.

Comment #46Maybe the reason they haven’t sacked Bruce yet is because they’ve had a sly word with the captain to garner a vote on how many wanted him gone and the majority have come out in favour of him.

To summarise, Fulham need one more win than us from the remaining matches.

All I know is this, if that is the case then it’s now down to the players to help their best pal Bruce out of this massive bottomless pit he/they have dug themselves into.

I hope you get the best presents possible for your special day & I imagine a point or three tonight would float your boat! That would certainly float mine!
A win for us would be the perfect response to Fulham & their result last night and a kick in the little round things for them – But it’s a hard ask!!!

Comment #57Happy birthday WLtoon , hope Brucie luck turns up trump’s for you
If Fulham’s destiny is in Brucies hands they are pretty much guaranteed to stay up.. despite Bruce probably staying in a job I’d much prefer we stay up, unlikely anyone will buy us in champo at a price Ashley would take and I think it will be a lot tougher to come back up this time with so many if our players out of contract.
You can guarantee Ashley won’t sanction spending money to replace them

Comment #58Imagine being forever known as the man who stuffed up a takeover by taking us down. Agent bruce’s work is almost done….again!!!
Munster,
You can surely see why when you endlessly knock the best coach we could possibly have got in Rafa (under Ashley) and then consistently champion the nugget that is bruce, people would understandably question the validity of your opinions and judgements. No, sadly, obviously you can’t.

Comment #70As agent Bruce has gifted ManU 31points in his previous visits to Old Trafford, surely it’s time for them to reciprocate to their long term player/fan and greatest supporter and for them to return 10% of his generosity back with a gift 3 points tonight? – No, OK I’ll go back to my usual grumpy self! 😉

Comment #71That Leicester win will be a little extra motivation for Man U
Going to be a tough one, but I have a fancy that we might able to muster the same mood as the Southampton game – all in for the fight.
Or maybe just flip them the bird as that seems to be popular today.

Comment #72Hibbit, a few decent players in that lot. I loved Emre, just not really suited to PL football, had a great free kick in him! Blotted his copy book signing Owen though, the original “sick note” 🙂

Comment #73Got to be a walloping in the region of 4 – 0 to Man U.
Brucie will probably play Gayle or Joelinton up top – couple of knackers who will get nowt
Joelinton is useless and Gayle is so weak.
Good getting this fixture out the way.

It’s so bloody painful being in this position (AGAIN!!!) When Ashley first came on the scene I felt so sure things would get better! How wrong could I be eh?
As Mr Frog keeps telling us 14 years and counting – two relegation’s and I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve had squeaky bums until the last game or two. Very little light relief apart from Pardew’s 5th place! It’s all down to the fat shopkeeper and his gambling ways!

Loved Clark’s work rate, pity he couldn’t score, didn’t the team call him jigsaw? I’m sure I read that somewhere. 🙂

Comment #79Carson, nó issue with you mate. My beef was with Dougie last night who was pleased about Fulham. He then gave me the usual balderdash that I love Bruce, as a way of whipping up hate.
But very few were logged on! 🙂
I think wanting us to go down is illogical as we are not sure Ashley will sell us if we do.
Tsunki is only wading in because his teddies have been sleepy and he needs some attention on him.

Comment #80Wasn’t Moyes among the dinosaurs a few short months ago, for most NUFC fans? Now he’s some kind be of genius?
Anyway. What’s up with Ritchie. We’re going to need his mettle in the run in.
Any kind of points will do in this match. Even a good competitive appearance.
My hesitant fiver went on a Newcastle win. 11 to 1 says the bookie (i.e. “don’t get your hopes up mate”).
