UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that fans will be provisionally allowed back into stadiums for the final weekend of the Premier League season. According to a report in The Chronicle, the prime minister addressed parliament this today setting May 17th as the date that fans may return to sporting events
If all goes to plan, up to 10,000 supporters, or 25% capacity, depending on the capacity of the venue, will be allowed to attend sporting events. The Premier League will have its final weekend of matches on May 23rd.
The prime minister had announced a tiered system last year which allowed a few thousand supporters to return to stadiums. However, that was soon abandoned when a second national lockdown was implemented after Christmas.
This is encouraging that we could see fans return for the entirety of next season, though possibly in a limited capacity, at least to start. Newcastle travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham for this season’s final match. So no fans will have attended any matches at St. James’ Park this season.
The final match at Fulham could be a massive one for Newcastle as the Cottagers are currently just one place and three points behind in the table. Hopefully, Newcastle will not need anything from that match to ensure survival. We need to get some wins to keep Fulham at bay starting with Wolves on Saturday at an empty St. James’ Park.
If we do end up having to go to Fulham on the final day needing a result, let’s hope it mirrors that 4-0 thrashing Newcastle handed them two years ago when the future looked so much brighter.

Comment #81Theres several winnable games left, around three after Wilson is back.
However Wilson has been available for previous winnable games and we got nothing out of them.
I’m more than confident, there’s enough in the squad, enough games to stay up.
I’ve absolutely no confidence in Bruces ability to guide this squad to safety, I’d feel a lot more confident if he wasn’t picking the side.
Wolves is a important game, yet WBA is a must not lose game, our season could hinge on that game.

Some good questions in there and hopefully a good few can take part in it or it will be pointless.

Comment #85Couldn’t agree more OP I have 0 confidence in Bruce doing anything right but I just hope there’s enough good influence within the setup to being enough out the lads.
We heard about Lascelles standing up and being vocal last week and we need more of that from him and more fight from the rest of them.

Comment #86I think the games Almiron could miss should be a big worry to everyone, for me he is the only one who is putting in 100% on the pitch whilst he’s out there at the moment.

All the huff and puff is for nothing if he keeps setting them up to fail.
Hopefully someone will lock him in the toilets on the team bus before the start of next match.

Comment #93On a very serious note I was reading about the sad death of Martin Lorimer the life long fan who died in tragic circumstances.
Apparently Lascalles had read and responded to his last tweet just before he died.. That has to have an impact on anyone’s thoughts. Just wonder if that’s weighing on Lascalles mind which is not ideal when you’re expected to be leading the team and playing Premiership football.
Might be that a wise manager would help the situation maybe by giving match captaincy to a player such as Dubs or Clark. That might sit better with Jammal for a while and help the team’s performance?

We just need a good start as we tend to start well but when we don’t capitalise on that there heads drop especially if we concede. If we can keep doing what we are doing but get a goal I believe they will build on that but concede there heads go down but was good to see we got an equaliser last night after conceding but second half wasn’t good and as soon as they took the lead you knew we wouldn’t get back into it but tbf some awful decisions last night and like a lot have been saying it looks like the leagues influence has stretched further.

Comment #109Jeez it`s been busy on here today, iv`e just caught up.
Posters saying Bruce won`t be sacked unless we are in the bottom 3 are being proved right it seems.
I`m stuck between a rock and a hard place, i don`t want us to drop into the bottom 3 incase we don`t get out of it, but i want Bruce out like everyone else.
Hmm, oh the joys of being a Toon fan.

A23 derby ffs – they are 40 odd miles apart and Crystal Palace isn’t on the A23 either.
Maybe we should call Newcastle v Tottenham the A1 derby
