Poll – How Will Newcastle Fare At Burnley On Sunday?

Newcastle are coming off an unexpected result after taking a point against Tottenham on Sunday. The lads redeemed themselves somewhat after the no-show at Brighton two weeks before.

However, it’ll take more than a draw at home to Spurs to clear the lingering stench from the performance put in at the Amex. This weekend represents a prime opportunity to make the air a little bit sweeter for Newcastle fans.

The Magpies travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in the early match this Sunday. This match again has heightened importance due to the following four being against clubs in the top half of the table.

So Burnley could represent our best chance to pick up that elusive win until the penultimate match of the season against Sheffield. Then the season’s final day is the showdown at Fulham which currently looms very large.

A result at Turf Moor will ensure that Newcastle remain above the Cottagers for at least another week. This time the lads will know what they have to do to prevent dropping into the bottom three as Fulham take on Wolves at Craven Cottage this Friday.

This could represent a problem similar to the one we faced at Brighton. Fulham had lost to Leeds before we faced the Seagulls ensuring Newcastle would remain out of the bottom three for the international break. That may have played a part in our anemic performance.

Another issue is that the lads don’t always turn up in matches they are expected to get a result in. That was not a problem against Spurs and we saw a competent and fiery display. Burnley are only four points ahead in the table and are coming off a defeat at Southampton.

The lads must keep the momentum going and pick up a result on Sunday. A win is really what is needed with the difficult fixtures on the horizon. However, a draw will keep Fulham at bay but will be a big disappointment should Fulham beat Wolves in two days.

    OP

Whilst I have always been sceptical about how effective protests could be ( because of how i feel matchgoers in large numbers behave not because of the cause) i don’t recall directly picking on or insulting individuals for protesting or giving up their ST’s

Others may have (possibly as a reaction) and if so they are as wrong as though trying to scapegoat matchgoers

My battle has been fought ( and lost) in previous years and despite the mainly heartache of over 50 years supporting I can’t let go – it is like nothing other than maybe family ( and they come first for me)

This Social Media world is a long way from the chants from the terraces and the post match gathering outside main entrance of old stand demanding “Sack the Board”

it would seem it ought to be possible to mount a winning campaign in this digital age ( look at what happend in protests during lockdown) and notwithstanding the efforts of many decent folk in different ways to bring about Ashley’s exit it hasn’t worked.

In my years of posting on here I have remained of the view that he will go when he deems it right for him ( certainly not for us other than a side effect) but i have not had the faith that we can to tip the scales sufficiently to make him go when it isn’t a gain for him.

Other factors like Covid clearly could be a catalyst and if no sale then next season is going to perhaps be a watershed relegation or not

Jail there you go with accusations again.

I’ve got a very thick skin but I don’t like piss takers and please don’t treat me as an idiots because I’m not.

You said it countless times and the fact we clash was the reason I didn’t like it as it was a piss take and said more than once, it was a joke that’s what saying.

You have no idea of who I am so please stop thinking you do, fair?

Good points and ones I have argued in past but not all see that angle

It’s ironic that 14 years on the ownership and manager) no longer even slightly divides us but if and how we get shot does

    Haha

Looked back at previiusu pages in case response to one of my posts there whilst typing and what do i notice……

……high number of hearts given to someone on a side argument between perennial opponents

I left earlier to allow the chat to go wherever it may as i had been drawn into a discussion that had started hours before and it was maybe stale

It continued though rather than dying down with other posters expressing their thoughts so i re- joined and it has been a pretty civil if emotive debate

So if we accept that readers as well as posters can award hearts ( or be manipulated) then the message is clear us lot waffling nostalgically or about the efficacy of protests are wasting our time – this passing across the back line and to Keeper and so on is not what the crowd want – they want action and bareknuckle stuff ( mixing sporting metaphors)

I think i’ll stand back and watch as well 🙂

    Cyprus

I’ve got Mobdro behind a VPN and it works – though I get fewer streams than I used to get.

I read somewhere that it got shut down after a court ruling from a case brought about by the Premier League due to it’s football streams.

That seems to have got rid of streams from the UK, but I can get the USA streams so can still get the football.

I only bother when it’s a sky NUFC game and I get the CNNSport stream.

It’s a bit like Pirate Bay if you ever used that site – they shut it down adn it re-opens with another site name.
