With the news that all six Premier League clubs have now confirmed their intent to withdraw from the European Super League, Newcastle’s match at Anfield on Saturday will likely not contain any protests from the Liverpool faithful.
Newcastle carry a three-match unbeaten run into the game. A streak that has distanced us considerably from Fulham who are now floundering and six points from safety. Newcastle are 8 points ahead and in 15th place.
Liverpool slipped up on Monday in a 1-1 draw at Leeds after winning three on the trot. They’ll want to make amends and keep close to the Champions League places. They are currently in 6th but just 2 points behind 4th-placed Chelsea, who drew 0-0 against Brighton last night.
Steve Bruce has kept with a consistent team and approach over this recent stretch. Allan Saint-Maximin returned to the starting 11 against West Ham last weekend after his fantastic cameo at Burnley the week before.
The Frenchman has topped his second straight Man of the Match poll with his performance against the Hammers taking 58% of the vote in another run-away win.
Bruce kept Callum Wilson on the bench against West Ham. The striker had another second-half cameo though should be in line to start this weekend against the Reds.
Joe Willock, too, has been coming off the bench after starting his first 7 matches as a Magpie. The midfielder has been the ultimate impact sub with two goals in his two substitute appearances.
Bruce again has a few tough decisions to make with Wilson and Willock and whether he can continue to keep them on the bench. Though it appears that the 5-3-2 formation will be here to stay for the time being.

How on earth do you work that one out? How can anybody be correct or wrong about something until it’s done? Until it’s actually completed or dead, nobody can be right or wrong can they? That isn’t an opinion, that’s fact. I think you’ve got your meaning for what an opinion is and what a fact is the wrong way round haha

Comment #5If I remember correctly the premier league when it started out wanted no relegation or only one relegated.
I think lord Westwood was president of the fa and managed to get that stopped
Memory a bit fuzzy
Don’t forget the premier league are not averse to creaming money to the top clubs.

Comment #7Liverpool have hit form recently , so a point for us will be a massive. I expect it to be business as usual for us after winning 2 in a row.
Has Bruce ever won 3 on the bounce in the PL? Yep, once with Wigan, 13 years ago, cheers OP lol
A draw would put us on 36,i think that will be enough to stay up.

Comment #20‘Nobody is right or wrong about the takeover until it’s been announced that it’s been completed or has failed.’
How is that an opinion? That isn’t speaking for anyone, that’s just a fact? It doesn’t matter what anybody knows or thinks they know, they aren’t right or wrong about the takeover happening or not until it’s been confirmed or failed. Not speaking for anyone. Not an opinion. Just the truth and a way of saying to not shoot anyone down over their views on the takeover as nobody is right or wrong about it until it’s done one way or the other.

Comment #21Once fans are allowed to fill grounds i think every ground the greedy 6 visit will be hell for the players, even though it wasn`t their doing, they represent the colours and the badge of the club.
Maybe every team playing against them will be more determined to put one over them and the like of Spuds and Arsenal might find it tough going next season, pity.

Comment #26The more I think about suitable punishments, the more I think it would be good to make them symbolic.
£12m fine for each club totalling £72m to be shared equally between all the EFL clubs.
A 14pt deduction at the start of next season for each PL club they were going to betray.
Transfer embargo for next season.

Comment #33No fence sitting, i’ve given my view on the takeover many times. Still believe it will happen but not as simple and easy as others think and still lots to be done.
I’m not daft at all, it’s clear as day that what I said isn’t an opinion in any sense. Haven’t spoken for others either, just stated a very clear and obvious fact that something isn’t correct or wrong until it’s proven to be one or the other.
I feel like i’m banging my head against a brick wall so maybe we should just leave it there haha
