It’s A No-Brainer To Ink This Rejuvenated Magpie To A New Contract

Before Joe Willock started banging in late goals, there was another Magpie who had some key late-game heroics to rescue points this season.

Early in the campaign, Jacob Murphy whipped in a beautiful free-kick with just minutes remaining after Wolves had taken a late lead. It wasn’t the only time Jacob would come through for Newcastle.

In December against West Brom, Murphy came on as a second-half substitute to deliver an inch-perfect cross which Dwight Gayle headed in late in that match to get what turned out to be our last win for a couple of months.

Murphy contributed another dramatic assist against Aston Villa in early March. Jacob came off the bench late with another perfect cross into the box. This time it was Jamaal Lascelles who headed the ball in for a point in the dying seconds.

The 26-year-old has spent much of this season in and out of the team. Though that’s changed over the last four matches as Bruce reverted to a 5-3-2 bringing Murphy, Matt Ritchie, and Sean Longstaff into the fold.

Murphy has kept his place with some excellent performances including a massive equalizer at Burnley, a match which Allan Saint-Maximin went on to see that Newcastle won.

Jacob has returned to Newcastle after spending the bulk of the last two seasons out on loan to the Championship. While he’s not a guaranteed starter, he’s had a big impact on this team this season.

The Sun is reporting that Newcastle and Murphy are set for talks over a new contract once safety is confirmed. There have been recent claims that his current deal doesn’t expire until 2022 and that is backed by this report.

The article also says that Watford are planning a £6m bid for the winger this summer. The Hornets have already attained automatic promotion on their first try. Burnley and Southampton are credited with an interest as well.

It’s a no-brainer at this point to get Jacob signed up on a new deal. You’ll not find a better replacement for £6m and he’s proven to be a very solid squad player with a flair for the dramatic.

Mr tuff do you ever read what you write.
Calling down everybody’s intelligence like your some kind of Oxford don.
Is it a lack of your own intelligence that makes you do it.
Pump the swamp what is the point you are the swamp but you can’t see it.
Another corker. You have not done a corker yet.

    Tackle from behind

If arbitration determines that PIF is not under the direct control of the Kingdom of SA, then that should help because the allegation is that KSA, by doing nothing to stop it, effectively endorsed BeOut and therefore its alleged piracy.

    Just a thought

Do you think some of those managers got such support because they were appointed at times of relative turmoil (and after some godawful managers) for the club?

About managers I can only say from what I know from my time supporting.. starting with Bruce. I don’t rate him but it’s that whole situation about following on to Rafa. Like with Wenger and fergie. Whoever was going after was doomed to fail. At first I thought he was just taking one for the team so to speak. I’ve managed to watch more games in this last year then ever and it has been painful.

Joe kinnear was pretty painful to see. Not even bothering to learn the names properly!

I thought McLaren could have been ok(ish) but another disappointment.

Warmed to pardew after a while but still couldn’t believe it when he was appointed

    Totally agree C.

Carroll has not had a proper chance since he came back. Maybe he still can, maybe he can’t, but I for one don’t know till I see with my own eyes. I can’t remember him missing a real chance and if he had he’s ring rusty anyway.

Now, of course, Wilson is class so he starts. So there is an issue…

Carroll, with his ball control, aerial domination and goal scoring ability could easily transform into the best CB in the pl.

Still, if I were in his place I’d move elsewhere for a couple year swan song. He must face it that the dream return hasn’t happened, for one reason or another.

I think you have been swayed by his selling of super Mac.
If I remember correctly Mac was going to do some kind of bosnian pre Bosnian. ?
Lee if I remember had quite a good record here.

I think Bruce was worse than Mclaren, gawd forbid how bad we would have been if Bruce had inherited the mess Carver left behind. What has saved Bruce is clinging on to the coat tails of our former manager and then having a coach who knows what he’s doing appointed over his head.

    SAVE OUR KET !
    Tough news for many.

Nestle has announced plans to cut almost 600 jobs and close a confectionery factory in Newcastle.

The world’s largest food company wants to close its site in Fawdon by the end of 2023 and focus production on factories in York and Halifax.

Carroll is 5th choice now, no chance hes getting much of a go. Wilson, ASM, Joe and Gayle all ahead of him and on merit for me

Hes not a player who can operate now VAR exists either
