It’s A No-Brainer To Ink This Rejuvenated Magpie To A New Contract

Before Joe Willock started banging in late goals, there was another Magpie who had some key late-game heroics to rescue points this season.

Early in the campaign, Jacob Murphy whipped in a beautiful free-kick with just minutes remaining after Wolves had taken a late lead. It wasn’t the only time Jacob would come through for Newcastle.

In December against West Brom, Murphy came on as a second-half substitute to deliver an inch-perfect cross which Dwight Gayle headed in late in that match to get what turned out to be our last win for a couple of months.

Murphy contributed another dramatic assist against Aston Villa in early March. Jacob came off the bench late with another perfect cross into the box. This time it was Jamaal Lascelles who headed the ball in for a point in the dying seconds.

The 26-year-old has spent much of this season in and out of the team. Though that’s changed over the last four matches as Bruce reverted to a 5-3-2 bringing Murphy, Matt Ritchie, and Sean Longstaff into the fold.

Murphy has kept his place with some excellent performances including a massive equalizer at Burnley, a match which Allan Saint-Maximin went on to see that Newcastle won.

Jacob has returned to Newcastle after spending the bulk of the last two seasons out on loan to the Championship. While he’s not a guaranteed starter, he’s had a big impact on this team this season.

The Sun is reporting that Newcastle and Murphy are set for talks over a new contract once safety is confirmed. There have been recent claims that his current deal doesn’t expire until 2022 and that is backed by this report.

The article also says that Watford are planning a £6m bid for the winger this summer. The Hornets have already attained automatic promotion on their first try. Burnley and Southampton are credited with an interest as well.

It’s a no-brainer at this point to get Jacob signed up on a new deal. You’ll not find a better replacement for £6m and he’s proven to be a very solid squad player with a flair for the dramatic.

Onmeedson, your right, some fans getting SBR the sack, we should have been careful what we wished for. What the Arsenal fans did to Wengar, even if his time was up, was despicable.

I am going to put the cat amongst the pigeons and go for win on Sunday.
Who are the Gunners anyway? a mid table team who are underachieving and are missing key players.
We managed a point last weekend against a better team so……
Il`e expect pelters for jinxing it, no problem there though.

    WLtoon,
I don’t think we’ve anything to fear from Arsenal (this Sunday, not Saturday doh!!) PEA and Laca are back but surely won’t be 100%, they’ve got a game tonight and the return leg next week with the EL being their only chance of salvaging their season. And they’re shite!

That`s my thinking, the EPl will be well down the priority list.
I thought PEA was out but hey, even if he is fit i still fancy our chances this weekend.
We are due a win against them lot anyway.

If it doesn’t, we get a stab at the gloves off cup instead.

My team for Sunday is basically the same last weekend but starting Wilson instead of Joe.
Wilson, Miggy and St Max won`t be a welcome sight for Luiz and co.
Aided by Ritchie and Murphy`s crosses could be very tasty, IF played in the right way.

No brainer for me to extend Murphy’s contract. Has shown hunger and desire, and definitely improved with his decision-making.
Regards this Sunday’s line-up it seems the obvious choice is to bring Wilson instead of Joelinton. They’ll play a high line and Wilson can exploit that. Do need one of our midfielders to be making late runs ala Willock; hope Miggy and Lobby do that.

WLtoon, did you ever have the misfortune to be sent to the Nissan Learning Centre to do maths and English? I taught there for a year or so and during the recession when they went on reduced hours lots were sent to us, they hated it. We also got sent to all the suppliers, Johnson Controls, Unipress, all of them.

    THis from Optimistic prime earlier

    “Mund/OLG

I think your comments towards the Harrisons and the Wife are as disgraceful as you both are

Youve both have been warned before, yet dismiss or mock what the wife has said.”.

Optimistic Prime . Youre lying again ..Iv never been warned as Im usually respectful and not angry like you ..Constructive maybe but not telling lies as you have done with this post earlier to Mund

Iv never been warned and certainly have never been disrespectful to the Harrison’s as you say here .

You are using the tactic of making lies up and writing it down for all to see knowing that people wont look back and you are hoping it sticks, well I am now writing this open letter to all to let people see how you operate.

You are full of nasty words to people and you’re lies will be outed each and every time you spout them.

You picked on the wrong Person .
