If Newcastle are going to keep their run going, it’s going to have to be done without the late-game heroics of Joe Willock. The on-loan midfielder has nabbed Newcastle an extra 4 points with late goals in his three substitute appearances over our four-game unbeaten streak.
His parent club Arsenal come to St. James’ Park on Sunday so Willock will be ineligible. However, even without the 21-year-old’s exploits, confidence should be high to keep this streak alive.
Arsenal are in the midst of another disappointing campaign for their usual lofty standards. While they have beaten Newcastle twice this season, at the Emirates both times, it was during our dreadful run earlier this year.
The lads are on a high right now and Arsenal are just trudging along in 10th in the table with little hope of a finish in the European places. However, this match is sandwiched in between their Europa League semifinal against Villereal with the away leg tomorrow evening in Spain.
This could be an excellent time to enact some revenge on Arsenal and pick up still needed points. Newcastle are very close to safety but until it’s reached, there’s always room for fear in the heart of a Newcastle fan.
Steve Bruce again likely won’t make many changes, especially without Willock. However, Callum Wilson looked like he was shot out of a cannon a couple of times at Liverpool. Any lingering doubts over his hamstring should have dissipated after seeing his bursts of pace last Saturday.
While Bruce may be hesitant to drop Joelinton, a front two of Wilson and Saint-Maximin would be a handful for any defense. So that could be the lone change at St. James’ Park this weekend in a match that many will be confident Newcastle can win.

Comment #1Mund it’s a public forum/blog, anyone is welcome to give their view on anything on here. Telling people not to weigh in is exactly the kind of policing i’m on about. Starts with wanting posts removed or people banned, then people will start asking for someones view on something removed as they don’t agree with it, people will exploit it if they don’t like someone and just want their stuff removed for no reason and so on. It’s an impossible situation for the admins. That’s just my take on it anyway, don’t want another back and forth and i wasn’t involved or mentioned it so i’ll say no more on the matter.

Comment #2I have to say, it’s rough dropping Joelinton after this last month we have had. It’s nice to see him finally growing into confidence to make the runs (his one where he then cut past 2 defenders with a shot on target was nice)

Comment #3But if Wilson is fit and ready to go, he is obviously a much better prem player than Joe.

Still far from the finished article but Joelinton does seem to be playing with a bit more confidence now. That cut past 2 defenders was lovely and just unlucky he couldn’t hit the corner more with the shot. Hopefully he can kick on and keep improving so he can prove some critics wrong. Still got a lot to do mind you.

Do you think people care for your thoughts on the matter? Seeing as it’s always one sided.
Do you think your important enough to have a say on all matters?

Comment #16Can’t remember what game it was, but one of the commentators mentioned how he saw Joelinton slamming shots away in the pre game warm up. Makes you wonder if he’s the same in training and tucks goals away for fun, but it’s just in matches where that touch goes missing a bit. Hopefully it’s just a confidence and adjustment thing and one day it just clicks. Not to quite the same extent but you look at Werner at Chelsea, clinical finisher for Germany and Redbull Leipzig but is missing some absolute sitters since joining Chelsea. Maybe a new league really does affect some players all round game a lot more than we realise.

Good advice and I can normally take it but when they reference me coaching kids in a vile way it boiled my piss mate it really did. There’s no need to take the piss out of anyone who is trying to help kids and coach them within a team but a few like to. I don’t understand why?

Comment #30Have read this blog since it’s inception but this is my first ever post. As someone who has had no interaction with anyone on here and has no agenda, I am blogging my OPINION that Mund is the most disruptive, attention seeking misfortune to ever happen to the blog, and there have been a few.
And aimed at both sides of this petty nonsense which takes up 90% of comments on here. Anyone who takes such umbrage at comments aimed at an anonymous persona on a blog needs to evaluate their outlook in life, it’s amazing some of you have got this far.

Comment #32Yes, but it’s still stirring all the negative stuff about the takeover, getting ready to put all this out in the event the takeover is back on, they’ll make sure it doesn’t go ahead.they can’t bear the thought that it’s money coming to the North East.

Comment #33Interesting in that article that apparently members of the consortium were shocked to hear MBS contacted Boris about the deal. As they’re trying to show he isn’t going to be part of the running of the club. The league dragged him into it by claiming PIF and the state (aka MBS essentially) aren’t seperate. So I don’t see why it would be surprising or even hurt the takeover chances if he contacted Boris.

Comment #36Carltoon, yeah it’s certainly not uncommon for someone wealthy to donate to a political party. Only reason it’s being brought up is because Johnson has apparently had some sort of influence or talks about this takeover. Just someone putting 2 and 2 together to make 5 and write an article out of it. If Johnson has denied any talks of any kind, I don’t think the league can say otherwise. They may think they’re untouchable but calling the prime minister a liar would be a bit far haha

Comment #37That’s the way the Tories operate. Want something done or a law changed, or to find out about a law change in advance so you can benefit, donate 100k and they’ll look after you. They should block all these donations and have all parties simply using an agreed amount from the tax revenue or small (5 quid etc) party donations with no strings attached.

It would be quite hypocritical for the league to say that when they also went to the government and if it wasn’t for Musgrove’s determination to get those details revealed it would of been swept under the rug.
There will be plenty out there against the league IMO and I believe DeMarco has documents that prove such things
