This is the team I think Steve Bruce will name for Sunday’s match against Arsenal. It has just one change from the draw at Liverpool with Callum Wilson coming in for Joelinton.
Steve Bruce is unlikely to make many significant changes in the midst of this current run. So he’ll likely deploy the 5-3-2 system once again with much the same team that snatched a point at Anfield.
Last weekend, Bruce made no changes to the team. It paid off with the unexpected draw against Liverpool. This time around, the only change I can envision is Callum Wilson coming in for Joelinton.
During his press conference on Friday, Bruce said Wilson was ready to start and referenced his explosive runs against Liverpool. While it may be harsh to drop Joelinton, Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin are a lethal front two who should be starting together when fully fit.
Bruce may be forced into another change with Matt Ritchie having suffered a slight calf injury. However, Bruce indicated that the wing-back should be ok and did participate in yesterday’s training session.
With Joe Willock unavailable against his parent club, the tough decision to keep the midfielder on the bench has been taken out of Bruce’s hands for this week. So it’s just the one change with Wilson returning to the starting eleven for what would be the first time in close to three months.

Comment #1Wilson is OK – -better than Joelinton. But prior to us signing him – who had really heard about Wilson – not many I would think.
How many of the so called big teams were after him — none.
With his age as well he has probably reached as far as he can go/achieve.

Comment #2Looks a decent 11 that, could really damage an average Gooners team.

Think unlknown injuries aside Wilson comes in at Joelinton not Almiron’s expense

Well I had heard of him and before injurues was on England fringes
Not top class maybe but that regretably is the market we are in
He adds more than goals and jhs runs and hold up play let our better players get up the pitch
Worth what we paid for him but we need strengthening as well

Comment #6Actually Chelsea were reported to be after him when Morata left. A fee around 30/50M was reported. They are petty big

Comment #10Looking at the Arsenal squad it is a disgrace they are mid table, if we had a squad like that and were in the same position, fans would be shouting for Arteta`s head.
Arsenal fans aren`t happy at all and it will become obvious next season once fans are allowed into the library.

Comment #11Been told a little on Willock
Apparently a lot of interest in him with the likes of Leeds, Wolves and Southampton in the running. Willock if moves, Newcastle would be his preferred destination if it doesn’t work out for him as he wants to go back and chat with Arteta to see were he stands first.
Ritchie to be fit. Maxi and Wilson to start. He told me big Joe might get the nod ahead of Miggy but will know for certain tomorrow.

Worse than running off with Bruceless’ kebabs, Hendick sat on his pasties after training and Greggs had sold out of them.

Comment #13The England manager had heard of him when giving him his debut in 2018. He’d be a top striker if not for his injury problems.

Comment #21The interest by other clubs in Wilson – via newspaper stories – is probably just as fatuous as all the top players we are linked with. Click bait/paper talk.

Comment #22Moonraker, all his goals were penalties. Apart from goals he does nothing and I think 6-7 is his record. Similar to that crap striker Watford had, Deeney.

Comment #29It showed how dysfunctional our set up is when we wouldn’t pay £17M for Rondon to try and move forward but would pay £20M for Wilson because we were in the clarts.
