Newcastle Offer Little As Arsenal Cruise To 2-0 Win At St. James’ Park

Arsenal have cruised to a 2-0 win at St. James’ Park. Newcastle were marginally better in the second have but offered little threat upfront in a comfortable win for the Gunners.

Steve Bruce made no changes after a poor first half had Newcastle down 1-0. Newcastle were a bit brighter to start the second half trying to get Wilson and Saint-Maximin on the ball but questionable foul calls hindered some potential opportunities.

Fifteen minutes into the second half and Newcastle were still unable to create any clear-cut chances. The lads were better than the first half and limiting Arsenal but just unable to mount much of a threat.

Arsenal were able to double their lead in the 65th minute through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The ball was laid off to Martinelli just inside the area down Newcastle’s right. He whipped in a cross that Aubameyang put away with an acrobatic finish from about five yards out.

Bruce made his first changes in the 71st minute bringing Fabian Schar on for Fernandez for his first appearance since February. Joelinton also came on for Almiron as Bruce transitioned to three strikers on the pitch.

Just like after the first goal, Newcastle failed to put in much of a reaction as they seemed a bit deflated. Arsenal continued to cruise while Newcastle struggled to mount a comeback. Bruce threw one last roll of the dice bringing Dwight Gayle on for Ciaran Clark in the 84th minute.

Newcastle pushed late to try and get back into the game. However, the second goal killed any chance of a result as the quality was just lacking in the final third for the Magpies.

Fabian Schar’s return was short-lived as he received a straight red in the 90th minute. It was a rash challenge through the back of Martinelli but looked like a harsh decision by Mike Dean.

Newcastle still hold a 9-point edge over Fulham with just four matches remaining but this was another drop in performance. It’s an opportunity lost as Newcastle were never at the races today.

Facts about Mike Dean. Since 2000 he has shown 110 red cards and 1927 yellows. BUT he hasn’t sent anyone off from the “Super League Six”. Players off this season.Soucek (West Ham), Jankewitz an Bedarek (Southampton) , Gibbs (WBA) and Moutinho and Luiz in the Villa v Wolves game and now Schar (NUFC). No wonder the lower teams don’t want him refereeing.
At least he tries not to upset the big money clubs.

All the player were crap today but our Captain sets the tone for being the worst Captain f and I wouldn’t call him a player anymore he is crap a washed-up money-grabbing tool who should have been sold year’s ago.

Sorry WLToon @ 80 I did misunderstand your point . Thought it a bit strange as we normally do sing off the same hymn sheet. Apologises mate.
A real hope the takeover can be resurrected or its all been a fakeover. Could not tolerate another season of Mash as Owner and Chief Clown as “Manager”- just unthinkable. Mash will be insisting the likes of ASM, Wilson , Dubravka, Lascelles and Almiron are all sold at a huge profit so “new” players can be bought and half any profit pocketed. You can’t run a football club like that and expect to succeed.

People including myself were getting carried away a bit – thinking we could get a result today.

always happens then we get crashed back down to earth again.

We were rubbish today and deserved nowt.

Puts an end hopefully of this crap about Brucie working miracles etc etc.

We have some crap players – on or two on here calling for that knacker Joe to come on. Why would anyone want him to come on – my God -amazing.

At least the argumentative brigade were missing today – only bonus.

The Ledge. Shelvey sees Bruce’s ring as his precious. Would of spoke volumes if Bruce had given Ritchie the captaincy but no can’t do that when said player makes you look a plank in the media.

Carson…he sure does Shelvey wouldn’t even be here if Brucie hadn’t joined us little arse licker.
I’m not a fan of Ritchie I think he is past it at this level but he has more passion in his little toe than Shelvey and definitely should be Captain.

Just watched Gary Neville on Sky expertly explain the lurking dangers of the Big6.

He pointed out that the put forward a proposal which would have tipped the balance of power into their hands which was rightly rejected. Next they signed “letters of intent” to break away and form the ESL.

Gary Neville suggests that the next move from them will be to just announce they have left and of course will be done about it.

It wont happen unless we get taken over but we need a real clear out in preparation for the next season starting with the owner and whole mismanagement structure ripped out. Any team has to be built round ASM and a handful of players worthwhile keeping. We have far too many sadly passed their sell by date who got us out of the Championship & back into the Premiership. If the Club had any ambition at all they wouldn’t have renewed Carroll and Gayle’s contracts especially when Chief Clown has no intention whatsoever of giving them a proper chance.
The whole bloody lot is a shambles !

    WLG,

No need for apologies mate, i though you might of read me wrong there lol.

God forbid what state we will be in next season if St Max and co do decide to jump ship, or are shipped out by Jabba for some juicy readies.
It amazes me how fans can still give Ashley their well earned money while he constantly pisses on their cornflakes.
If they buy a ST next season and have the gall to complain about the rubbish that is on display then there will be no sympathy from me whatsoever, they deserve everything they have paid for.

We couldn’t beat brentford reserves, let alone arsenal’s. We couldn’t even beat shef utd!!

We got some half decent results with an arsenal reserve saving our bacon.
Bruce is a stain on our club and he’s like a pea in a pod with our owner.

The Bruce says we didn’t play to the levels needed to beat Arsenal but who sent them out to play that way and that Arsenal team were 11th and 10 points ahead of us going into the game, win that game today and there wouldn’t have been too much between us. When is this man going to learn.

It’s an absolute joke at Man U . When the Glasers bought the club it was all done with borrowed money. Man Utd before that was quoted on the London Stock Exchange and so far as I’m aware the Glasers haven’t paid anything back at all but obviously the value of the Club has risen appreciably since then.
Shouldn’t be allowed . It is not a level playing field . Man City have been given all their money by UAE and don’t even own their own ground.I really wish those six clubs had broken away but I expect Spurs and Arsenal would soon be crying when they found themselves bottom of the pile every season.
The thing is what is the Premier League going to do to punish Man U for delaying kick off. Absolutely nothing I expect as the EPL is run completely by these six clubs. DISGRACE! and that’s the real reason why our takeover hasn’t happened. They didn’t want another club to steal the show.

Thinking about it i doubt there will be anywhere near 30k, apart from maybe the first couple of games, new season buzz and all that shite, notice the buzz was small case.
