Newcastle Offer Little As Arsenal Cruise To 2-0 Win At St. James’ Park

Arsenal have cruised to a 2-0 win at St. James’ Park. Newcastle were marginally better in the second have but offered little threat upfront in a comfortable win for the Gunners.

Steve Bruce made no changes after a poor first half had Newcastle down 1-0. Newcastle were a bit brighter to start the second half trying to get Wilson and Saint-Maximin on the ball but questionable foul calls hindered some potential opportunities.

Fifteen minutes into the second half and Newcastle were still unable to create any clear-cut chances. The lads were better than the first half and limiting Arsenal but just unable to mount much of a threat.

Arsenal were able to double their lead in the 65th minute through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The ball was laid off to Martinelli just inside the area down Newcastle’s right. He whipped in a cross that Aubameyang put away with an acrobatic finish from about five yards out.

Bruce made his first changes in the 71st minute bringing Fabian Schar on for Fernandez for his first appearance since February. Joelinton also came on for Almiron as Bruce transitioned to three strikers on the pitch.

Just like after the first goal, Newcastle failed to put in much of a reaction as they seemed a bit deflated. Arsenal continued to cruise while Newcastle struggled to mount a comeback. Bruce threw one last roll of the dice bringing Dwight Gayle on for Ciaran Clark in the 84th minute.

Newcastle pushed late to try and get back into the game. However, the second goal killed any chance of a result as the quality was just lacking in the final third for the Magpies.

Fabian Schar’s return was short-lived as he received a straight red in the 90th minute. It was a rash challenge through the back of Martinelli but looked like a harsh decision by Mike Dean.

Newcastle still hold a 9-point edge over Fulham with just four matches remaining but this was another drop in performance. It’s an opportunity lost as Newcastle were never at the races today.

Go to work for a few hours.
    Heck!
Bruce presses the self destruct button
Man U and Liverpool reap havoc as a direct result of their invplvement in the ESL.
    Man U have failed.
They need to be relegated for arrogance and negligence.

A round of applause from me for the Man U fans for a change.
Fighting for the true spirit of football, not the greedy bastards that are trying to ruin it.

Outstanding protest by manu fans. Truly the one with balls.

Jane is it not to ensure the players remain in their Covid bubble, whether you’re the home team or not.

Comment 113 No points deduction they are a member of the Elite Big Six in the Premier League (The Untouchables). Masters & Co wouldn’t dare rock the boat and upset them but any of the other 14 well who knows?

? Our members turned out for yesterday’s May Day action to support Zahra – a single mom of two kids who were hospitalised due to infected eczema caused by mould and damp in their rented home. ??? https://t.co/LIv57fpIhy

The way Bruce set the team up today he may as well have kept ASM and Wilson on the bench. Put Joe and Gayle on to put the hard yards in and then put those 2 on with 30 mins left. If you start them you have to fill the midfield. Why were our wingbacks so deep. But I still come back to who the hell else is out there to do the job if Ashley still there.

OP great idea send the bailiffs to his office at SJP on the grounds that he has upset so many loyal enduring fans. The problem is he is not in breech of contract, yet, as Mash’s brief to him at the beginning of the season was : “Keep NUFC in the Premiership” and “sadly” he has been extremely lucky and will probably achieve this

In another 10 years the whole of the rental property market will be owned by footballers. It’s what their financial advisers advise them to do with their millions. Perhaps they should be setting up charitable foundations. They are so thick and greedy they probably don’t realise how rich they are.

Ive put together a contract for Bruce in partnership with an unnamed sponsor to manage a club in Estonia.
Part of the deal includes unlimited supply of pastries for the duration of his stay,
and 50% off every purchase from the local kebab shop.
He was last seen heading to a nearby airport with 2 chaps also named Steve hanging onto his considerable love handles.

I have advocated on here a few times that we need to take the SJP pitch, mid match. But peacefully. Slow walk on in our thousands and just sit on the grass. That’s what their fans should have done. But shooting flares off at staff, smashing cameras and general intimidating behaviour is not on. Smacks off anarchists just wanting to kick off.

Whilst we are deluded if we dare to challenge the ownership, according to the pundits the manure fans are ok cos they’ve had enough.
However in fairness I have just heard gary neville say that the epl executives should be booted out for being incompetent
Does that mean the same as corrupt methinks

Listening to Premier League day on 693am

Man U Fans apparently incenced by 16 years of suspect ownership.
Many accusing Man U of illegal practices in Influencing the EPL and UEFA amongst other.

Not only do they nerd to be investigated in their role of stopping the NUFC takeover they need the Fraud Squad in there, Sky and the like will now need to sue the dot damages caused by non fulfilling their fixtures. As will the FA need to deduct points and fine them and relegate them as they have failed to enable the fixture to take place.

Fulham have good right now to demand to retail their status in the Premiership.

God forbid what might have happened or will happen when they can have 25,000 fans back in the stadium for end of season games.

If other clubs are subsequently denied fans in grounds and that affects the league positions what then.?

10, 000 inside SJP for the Sheffield game is going to be interesting.

    Protests against Ashley.
    Campaigning for Bruce out.
Accusations of corruption against the EPL.

The slimy six have caused mayhem
They need to be made accountable.

Onmeedson, I honestly don’t think our supporters have any heart left in them to protest like the Man U fans etc…. we have had pain and no success for years and with Ashley for over a dozen years our soul has been torn from us, Man U have been very successful and still winning trophies etc…. so protesting is easy for them, imo. Cheers

If only! 2nd in the league and the supporters create mayhem! And someone thinks we should do the same!? Well they might hate the Glazers but who on earth is going to take on a club with that sort of response? The Premier league have created a monster they cannot control.. They have allowed this to happen through corporate greed and now its come to the point where a club 2nd in its league have supporters rebelling against their owners..
That club is worth billions? Regardless how it is worth that much, who could afford to take it on?? I would suggest no-one, it’s an investment, who would invest
in a club whose supporters complain at success?
I am aware the Glazers have loaded the club with debt but that is the fault (in my mind), the people who run the league, they have allowed it to happen..
