Poll – How Will Newcastle Do At Leicester City On Friday?

Newcastle need to show a reaction after crashing back to Earth in the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal, a match in which the lads were never at the races from the get-go. It ended a four-match unbeaten run with barely even a fight.

Next on the deck is another one of our recent bogey clubs in Leicester City. Newcastle have lost the last three to the Foxes including a 2-1 defeat at St. James’ Park in January.

However, we were summarily whipped in our two fixtures last season including a 5-0 romp at the King Power Stadium. We’ll return to the scene Friday evening facing an opponent that is not likely to take things lightly.

Leicester are determined to keep their Champions League place this season after they faltered down the stretch last year to barely miss out. They currently sit third in the Premier League and have a 5-point edge over West Ham in 5th. They’ll want to maintain that advantage.

As for Newcastle, our fate lies at the opposite end of the table. This weekend’s results have us back down in 17th with Fulham’s sights, though quite a distance away, focused firmly on our backs.

This past Sunday the lads let an opportunity to pull further away slip. There’s not much to take away from the match against Arsenal other than to avoid anything similar on Friday.

There were few positives against the Gunners and it was a difficult task to select our best player. Though Matt Ritchie has barely edged Allan Saint-Maximin by just three votes in our poll.

Hopefully, it’ll be a lesson learned to not take the foot off the gas just yet. There’s still work to do to ensure safety. A result on Friday would be just the outcome needed to wash away the stain of Sunday’s anemic performance.

I’ve gone for a draw. BUT if we play as ineptly as we did against Arsenal we will get absolutely hammered, again.

How we do against Leicester is a bit of a lottery
It’s quite possible the lads could turn up
But more than likely get Bruced

It has taken me a few days to get over the performance, if you can call it that, on Sunday.

No spirit, no fight, no flair – nothing.

The whole team looked totally drained before kick off. What on Earth did Bruceless say to the lads before the match. Was it along the lines of, “Well they are a bigger, better club than us, so just walk around a bit and see what happens.”

Bruceless is well out of his depth in the EPL. I think he would struggle in the Champo too.

We need a much improved effort against Leicester to hold our own and hopefully get a point. We are not safe yet. I just wonder if Bruceless is aware of that.

I reckon we’ll surprise them and get a result. Games are catching up with their lads, they’re grinding out results….sign of a decent side…..likely smash us to bits but I’m postive, lol.

LCBP sorry had school run to do, yes I thought that myself when I was reading the article lol. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up at Spurs in the summer, plays similar football to Jose and if he’s given good backing can see him doing a good job.

If Leicester are ruthless this could be 4 or 5 especially if we sit back and don’t allow any challenges while not following runners into the box

That cutback to the edge of the box where we don’t bother to mark is tailor made for the way Leicester play can guarantee they will score from that

Went for a draw, think that’s the most we’ll get Friday. Hopefully another former player doesn’t come back to haunt us AGAIN.

Regan, my money is on Werner Originals to win it, but it’s still wide open. It’s a miracle I got to top the table at all — I was hundreds of points adrift, and in the bottom 3, around gameweek 12.

We’re erratic so anything can happen. We can’t string results together, certainly not wins but likely have at least one left in us this season. That should do it. All big games now, Monday for Fulham v Burnley is a proper 6 pointer.
