On Wednesday, Newcastle confirmed that five Magpies have signed new deals. Paul Dummett and Fabian Schar have had one-year extensions triggered while Jacob Murphy, Federico Fernandez, and Dwight Gayle are all on new contracts.
Unfortunately, Newcastle provided little information on these contracts other than to confirm the quintet are under contract for the upcoming season. So the length of the deals for Fernandez, Gayle, and Murphy were not made available.
It has been reported that Gayle’s contract is for three years which would tie him down until 2024. It’s also been suggested that Newcastle could cash in on the striker should a suitable offer come in this summer despite this new deal.
It’ll be very interesting to see if Fernandez is on a multi-year deal. There were reports that Newcastle had an option to extend him for another year like Dummett and Schar. However, the statement from the club suggests that he is on a new contract like Gayle and Murphy.
As for Murphy, his representatives at New Era Global Sports have congratulated him on their Instagram Account. They have revealed that Jacob has signed a new six-year contract, which is excellent news for the 26-year-old. This is what was said in their post:
Huge congratulations to client @jacobmurphy95 who has signed a new 6-year contract with @nufc.
We look forward to the season ahead and continuing the journey with you Jacob!
There’s still no news on Andy Carroll who reportedly has been offered another one-year deal. It’s uncertain if the same incentive-laden terms as the past two seasons. Hopefully, we’ll get some news on Andy’s future in the coming days.
