Langley, Lascelles, Hayden, And Watts Start At York City In First Pre-Season Friendly

Here is who Steve Bruce has named in his starting eleven for our first pre-season friendly at York City. All four Magpies who missed the backend of last season with injuries are in the lineup in Wilson, Lascelles, Fraser, and Hayden.

This is a strong team to start this match. Though it doesn’t look like the 5-3-2 which Bruce deployed for the final nine matches last season. Unless Ryan Fraser is going to play centrally it could be a 5-2-3.

Kelland Watts looks to be on the left-side of the back three ahead of Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett. There are some notable absentees with Javier Manquillo, Florian Lejeune, and Jonjo Shelvey not on the bench.

Here is the side former Magpie Steve Watson has selected for the hosts. Former NUFC academy product Mackenzie Heaney starts for York City.

Newcastle have written a piece on this afternoon’s starting goalkeeper Dan Langley at nufc.co.uk. This match will also be streamed live at NUFC TV and the club’s official YouTube channel.

Be nice to see Flaherty get a decent run out, he seemed to be performing well last season consistently.

Tom Allan’s loan at Accrington didn’t seem to go well last season.

Interesting to note that U23 Adam Wilson is now listed as a forward. Think he was LMF in previous seasons. Could be confusing if he makes the step up! 😀

Morning all from this side of the pond! Been keeping up on the blog all summer just not posting but wanted to check in for the day. Good luck to both squads and the young lads between the post…coming from being a keeper myself. Seems like its been a shorter “summer” with the Euros and all but glad to have a new season upon us. HWTL!!!

For those constantly complaining about the negativity or miserable posters, you may want to spend a hour or so reading some of Charles Bukowski’s work.

He basically says the dumber you are the happier you’ll be, whilst intelligent people approach things with caution and are unhappy as they wish they didn’t know or understand as much as they do.

Maybe the negative posts come from the fact some posters can absorb and interpretate the information quite easily, they also don’t have the arrogance to ignore facts and evidence.

If you’ve no narrative to push, all you can comment on is the facts.

The facts are the facts, if you perceive them as negative or positive that’s says more about you.

Is Lejeune injured? If he’s in neither squad then it looks like he’s not in Bruce’s plans at all this season.
