Newcastle Tracking Young Swede As Move To France Stalls – Report

Steve Bruce is reportedly trying to add two midfielders to his squad ahead of the new season. Joe Willock remains the priority though Arsenal aren’t in any rush to make a decision at this stage of the summer.

Recent reports have Newcastle in discussions with Chelsea over a loan move for Conor Gallagher. Newcastle face stiff competition with him high on Crystal Palace’s wishlist as well.

Sport Witness has an article stating that Newcastle are monitoring the situation of FC Midtjylland’s Jens Cajuste (pictured above). The 21-year-old is a top target of Ligue 1’s Rennes, who are struggling to meet Midtjylland’s demands

This comes from RMC Sports journalist Loïc Tanzi. He claimed the following on his Twitter account which has been translated into English:

“The Jens Cajuste case is at a standstill for the moment with Stade Rennais.

The French club, which has a priority of recruiting a number 6, must sell before being able to increase its offer.

Meanwhile, Newcastle and Brentford also want to move forward”

Cajuste is a Swedish international who has 5 caps under his belt. He made one substitute appearance in the 2020 European Championships coming on late in the hard-fought 0-0 draw against Spain that opened Sweden’s tournament.

The midfielder was eligible for the US national team through his father. He lived in China when he was very young where he started out in a couple of Beijing-based academies.

Cajuste joined Örgryte IS in 2010 which is based in his hometown of Gothenburg. He moved to his current club FC Midtjylland in Denmark in 2018 for a small fee. He’s made 69 appearances with 2 goals and 2 assists over the past few seasons.

Rennes have been trying to reach a breakthrough for the midfielder over the past few weeks but things have now come to an impasse. The French club’s latest offer has been rejected with Midtjylland holding out for around £8.5m.

Rennes see Cajuste as a potential replacement for budding superstar Eduardo Camavinga. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid have all been heavily linked with the 18-year-old Camavinga. Rennes are now looking for other options.

This doesn’t seem like the summer Newcastle can make a serious run at a player like Cajuste. Bruce has just £10m to work and whatever he gets from Florian Lejeune’s sale to Alaves. The youngster certainly fits Mike Ashley’s profile as one who could be sold on for a healthy profit in the future.

Muto – like a new signing
    Gallagher – loan
    Willock – loan with option
    Willems – free transfer

    And that’ll be it.

How many hundred thousands of people were at the F1 yesterday?

How many going to England games were the two future heirs to the throne attended?

Regarding Willock, if Arsenal sign midfielders and Arteta decides to sell/loan him out, then there’s absolutely no guarantee that he’ll be coming to us.

Yes, he did great for us last season and seemed to enjoy himself. And he also seemed to bond with ASM and apparently liked Bruce, but all of that won’t mean a thing if another club outbids us.

If we offer 20M quid and someone like West Ham or Palace offer 22M – 25M then Arsenal aren’t going to entertain our bid, are they?

I know it’s ultimately up to the player to decide where he goes, and he may refuse to sign for anyone other than us, but if he digs his heels in then Arteta could threaten to play him in the reserves and let him know he can either get zero playing time for Arsenal, or sign elsewhere and have a canny career.

It’s not nailed on that he’ll sign for us.

    Op,
We’re going to see the amount of people catching it going up massively. As long as people aren’t dying then what else can be done. What’s going to happen to Australia when they open up or are they staying closed forever?

Jim Broadbent saying ‘for the greater good’ in that trailer reminded me of him saying pretty much the same thing in Hot Fuzz. One of my favourites with it being a homage to the original Wicker Man movie (right down to giving Edward Woodward a role too).

Be nice if OZ closes for ever, my sister might stop asking me to visit every week 😉

I’m expecting more lockdowns, within a month.

Wore my mask into shops today, there was quite a few doing the same.

There was a few who were using the mask to hold up their chins, I found this amusing, what’s the point?

Aye there is an app but it’s not as good as desktop which can also be used on your phone. Just go to chrome, go to the website, sign in as normal and add to home screen, are you signed up to the H2H, I need to recheck the list tonight.

    Am I late with this:
    Chris Waugh.
#NUFC’s injury issues go beyond keepers, even if the initial hope is Joelinton’s thigh problem isn’t serious.

Jonjo Shelvey injured his calf during running in pre-season & “won’t be around for a while just yet”, says Bruce, who admits #NUFC are “very, very short” in midfield.

I know youngsters want to get out every night with their mates and have a good time. In my youth I was out every night.
But I’d rather stay in and not get the bug or potentially being the cause of killing someone.

Feel better when more time has elapsed and the boffins can explains thing better than they are doing now. Passage of time may produce more evidence for them to interpret – hopefully correctly.

    OP

My only guess as to why PIF haven’t changed their structure in their part of the bid, is because they want Newcastle as part of PIF’s portfolio. Not just to basically own it but it’s in the name of one guy, they want to be able to add a premier league team to their portfolio. Probably to go with their 2030 vision. That’s just my view on it though as I can’t see any other reason why they wouldn’t restructure their role to get the deal done.
