Newcastle Issue Brief Statement On Postponement Of Arbitration Until 2022

Newcastle United have confirmed that their pending arbitration case against The Premier League has been postponed until early 2022 after a meeting on Monday.

Here is the full statement from the club:

The parties attended a hearing today in the case between Newcastle United and the Premier League.

The main hearing of the arbitration has regrettably now been adjourned until early 2022 due to issues with the disclosure of evidence.

The parties will be making no further comment at this time.

Newcastle’s arbitration case against the Premier League was supposed to get underway this month. The timeframe of the proceedings could have lasted well into the season. Now this club will remain in limbo almost indefinitely as no firm date for the arbitration has been set.

Mike Ashley has been reluctant to fund Steve Bruce’s summer business with a reported budget of just £10m as he hopes to get the Saudi-backed takeover resurrected. We are starting to fall well behind the rest of the pack in our preparations for the coming campaign.

This is another in an endless string of delays and shenanigans that are threatening this club’s ability to compete in the league. Now that a final decision on this takeover is not likely to happen until near the end of this season, Mike Ashley has to open up his wallet and back this club.

^^^^^ ShaytoStay ^^^^^ I tend to agree, or maybe I’m just hoping too much. Apparently the CAT case is a slam dunk for us, the EPL won’t want all their dirty laundry and back street deals/brown envelopes being paraded in public, so will quietly agree on the takeover and all cases will be dropped.

    Here’s hoping anyway.

There’s nowt to worry – everything’s under control.

The Chronic reports that ‘Bruce said: “All of the decisions of getting a 25-man squad together is what it is all about now.

“All the work begins, we have got irons in the fire for two or three things and we will see what that develops….’

Newcastle United and Brentford are looking at Midtjylland’s Jens Cajuste, 21, after Rennes’ pursuit of the Sweden midfielder came to a standstill.

So if arbitration is delayed then surely we should see some movement on transfers this week? 2 or 3 signed by Sunday then?

Or was this another tactic to not spend money early in the window again?

I also wondered we are effectively taking on the “top 6” would they be in a hurry to sell/loan us Willock and any players from Chelsea etc? Surely those clubs would have us last on the list of destinations for players at the moment?
