Newcastle Issue Brief Statement On Postponement Of Arbitration Until 2022

Newcastle United have confirmed that their pending arbitration case against The Premier League has been postponed until early 2022 after a meeting on Monday.

Here is the full statement from the club:

The parties attended a hearing today in the case between Newcastle United and the Premier League.

The main hearing of the arbitration has regrettably now been adjourned until early 2022 due to issues with the disclosure of evidence.

The parties will be making no further comment at this time.

Newcastle’s arbitration case against the Premier League was supposed to get underway this month. The timeframe of the proceedings could have lasted well into the season. Now this club will remain in limbo almost indefinitely as no firm date for the arbitration has been set.

Mike Ashley has been reluctant to fund Steve Bruce’s summer business with a reported budget of just £10m as he hopes to get the Saudi-backed takeover resurrected. We are starting to fall well behind the rest of the pack in our preparations for the coming campaign.

This is another in an endless string of delays and shenanigans that are threatening this club’s ability to compete in the league. Now that a final decision on this takeover is not likely to happen until near the end of this season, Mike Ashley has to open up his wallet and back this club.

Is anyone out there thinking that the EPL is racially biased against Arabs and Muslims?

I don’t, but the EPL need in these difficult times to clarify that they are not thinking along those lines.

    Only fair.

The quicker the fan base start listening to the likes of toon 22’s opinions the better. The only way to get rid of this man is to hit him in the pocket. It’s the only thing that hurts him. That stadium should be empty every home game if the fans want rid of him. The fans that don’t are well within their rights to keep going.
I’ve heard the arguments of how much money Ashley is spending in legal fees so he must want to sell.
Let this sink in. He will be paying Jeff Hendrick and Dwight Gayle more per week than he will demarco and Fatima. The money he’s spending is to keep us strung along and it’s money we’ll spent compared with hendrick and Gayle.

Well Rafa was aware it was happening and that’s why he went to Everton. He’ll probably get ASM to join him. Mash wont be too bothered because he’ll probably get £75M for him which Bruce will see very little of.
Toon supporters have been shafted yet again .
I’m done with the Club and football in general.
It’s all bent. We’d be better off in the Championship than in a relegation battle playing for 17th in the Premiership every season. No wonder Willock is staying at Arsenal . All we are in for are the rejects the others don”t want. Choudhery, Will Hughes and the likes. We cant even compete with the likes of Brentford and Norwich.
We are a selling club and always will be with Mash and Co and a Clueless Clown as so called Manager.
    Finished ! Joke Club!!!

    Jazzys post is really interesting.

If the PL has found the club has done something illegal or indeed Ashley himself, can he be seen as a fit n proper owner, even if its the club he’ll take wrap.

With his claims of having a winning hand in Arb and CAT the PL has to balance the books otherwise Ashley would take them to the cleaners.

I find this announcement more positive than negative, be surprised not to hear big news one way or the other very soon.

I think the arbitration comittee may have had news filter through from the Competition Appeal Tribunal that has prompted them to hang fire until they see that outcome which may well render their pronouncements irrelevant

I can’t answer questions on this. I’ve given a heads up the CAT case would run 1st. IMO as a fan I’d rather it went b4 arb. Only a CAT will give you the transparency & disclosure we need. Mike Ashley has invested too much on legals to rely on the arb panelFolded handsZebra #NUFC #NUFCTakeover

Just want to say well done to those who recognise and have defended Jonjo’s ability and work ethic, I’ve done this for years but have hesitated recently cos I’ll be probably be accused of being obsessed with him. I aint but I do recognise a good player when I see one, I think I do anayway. 🙂

Lochinvar they are not against Man City and their owners. oh sorry cash backers – UAE. Are they? Despite being one of the “rich six” who wanted to jump ship. Oh sorry they really hammered them for that didn’t they? £25M between the lot of them.! That must have really hurt them and taught them a lesson. Hypocrites the lot of them.

Red nose Michelle, giving her interpretation, it’s in laymen’s terms, she has said this was always going to happen, and can be disclosure form both sides, or new information, but she is surprised he judge give them this much time. But it happens in all arbitration cases, and she tried to tell fans this. But she is speaking as a fan. She also said it could be new information, which both sides having to look over.

Why would they want the Cat to come first. They cant force a takeover. The only way that happens is if the arbitration finds in the clubs favour or they think they are backed into a corner and give up.
Dont see anything good out of this unless its postponed to let the 2 parties work it out

Michelle is absolutely spot on. These dates on cat website are all just a date. Court cases rarely happen by dates. Disclosure in the CAT will bring up similar problems and be delayed. And delayed and delayed.
It is a tactic used in most court cases. Especially criminal where by the time it hits a court room witnesses have dropped out.
In this case it has two scenarios. Prem will delay through disclosure hoping the claimant/Saudis walk.
    Or
Ashley will delay through disclosure to string the fans a long and trick them for another few years.
Either option it is the fans that lose out and this is why this needs stopped now.

Sadly as Newcastle United supporters we now see the total opposite of that in “The Premier League Farce” it’s got to be the biggest & saddest farce in the history of Football and as fans of NUFC we’ve seen more than our share of the farcical stuff!
