Newcastle Issue Brief Statement On Postponement Of Arbitration Until 2022

Newcastle United have confirmed that their pending arbitration case against The Premier League has been postponed until early 2022 after a meeting on Monday.

Here is the full statement from the club:

The parties attended a hearing today in the case between Newcastle United and the Premier League.

The main hearing of the arbitration has regrettably now been adjourned until early 2022 due to issues with the disclosure of evidence.

The parties will be making no further comment at this time.

Newcastle’s arbitration case against the Premier League was supposed to get underway this month. The timeframe of the proceedings could have lasted well into the season. Now this club will remain in limbo almost indefinitely as no firm date for the arbitration has been set.

Mike Ashley has been reluctant to fund Steve Bruce’s summer business with a reported budget of just £10m as he hopes to get the Saudi-backed takeover resurrected. We are starting to fall well behind the rest of the pack in our preparations for the coming campaign.

This is another in an endless string of delays and shenanigans that are threatening this club’s ability to compete in the league. Now that a final decision on this takeover is not likely to happen until near the end of this season, Mike Ashley has to open up his wallet and back this club.

We have been involved in a relegation fight for the last 4 seasons, will we be able to ride out luck for yet another season?

If the PL were with in their rights to stop the sale arbitration would of went through and end the takeover, takeover is still very much on IMO

I reckon there is a few more twists and turns, ups and downs yet. Thing is though, we’ve been on this rollercoaster since last March and I think everyone is suffering from extreme takeover fatigue. Even the buyers and seller must be sick to the back teeth of it now, even though they aren’t as emotionally attached as us, and continue this never-ending process only through sheer stubbornness. I’m just glad the EPL are there to protect us fans.

Right, now where’s Captain Amerimag with his positivity bus?

I appreciate that the blog needs a source of income but I find this betting thing that keeps popping up irresponsible and most irritating.

Surely there must be other better sources of income out there somewhere than promoting betting!

Sorry Neil but I feel quite strongly about this!

    Nowt to give over mate.

Until the consortium say it’s over and it’s done then there is still hope.

If the case continues till next year then they have definitely said they will be around and wait that time as what’s the point? It’s to prove separation and only separation.

I’ll wait till we hear more over the coming weeks

    Whos with holding information?

Seems the hubby is pointing the finger st the PL, whilst the Telegraph say both…

The club statement is a little gentle, compared to previous ones, I’m not buying their regret.

Has the club done this on purpose to allow CAT to go through first or is the PL delaying as suggested.

    Again, more questions than answers.

Delays happen in 99% of cases. Whether it be arb, cat or criminal. There will be delays in the cat case 100% because unfortunately that is the legal system.
Especially when at least one of the parties wants a delay. If one of the parties wants a delay it is so easy to get a case delayed at disclosure stage.

Well that was a bit of a kick in the teeth, But IMO, I think the CAT case had to go first, I also think both parties agreed with the putting back arbitration to next year etc….we,ll hear lots more in the next couple of weeks I,m sure, but I,m with Mund on this positively, the CAT will be our saviour I believe, Staveley and her hubby will inform us as best they can , sorry but I haven’t had a drink, just my opinion.

Jazzys info about disclosure was spot on.
Leg slapping if you do not disclose all the salient info. Also posted by OP ? was what info is not being disclosed. God knows if a party is retaining info or has produced redacted documents. We just do not know what is going on.
Something must not be right. Time will tell I suppose.

On thing is sure – if we do not improve the team massively this season – Maxi is going to be away to another club.

    What a mess – again.

A few things are a lot clearer after that announcement:

    1) Amanda was desperate, with all of those press interviews. She sounded it, and acted it. She knew if the Arbitration went ahead they would lose. Mainly because the PL top legal guy is the chair and he always rules for the PL.

    2) It is a game of cards. Poker. We have a winning hand. But that hand is in the CAT case. Newcastle win that case all day long. Some of the evidence is even in the public domain (BEIN letter asking clubs to block our takeover).

    3) NUFC fans and all PL fans believe the PL are corrupt. The CAT will prove that in a court of law. The result of which could see Masters go to prison. Ant-competition defeats are severe. Jail time.

    4) None of this means the takeover will happen.

    5) Rafa knew.

Protesting against the PL has no impact. They don’t care about fans. Only an empty St James’ Park week after week forces change. Ashley would be forced to sell to someone else.

But a season ticket if you want Ashley to stay.
Stop going if you want rid.
    Simples.
Season ticket holders should get behind the team and try to keep us in the league and Mike in 100 million a year.
Season ticket holders are gradually killing the club. Death by a thousand cuts. Nice people

I have not been to the ground for 7 years because of Ashley. Boycott to get rid of him.
I would rather stand next to a Mackem than a diehard season ticket holder. The Mackem cannot hurt the club but the season ticket holder is killing it. No time for “loyal” supporters

Its all down to money. How much do barristers earn? A pretty penny I bet. Why wouldn’t they want to string this out as long as they can? How many cases as Nick de Marco actually lost?. Not be good for his future income and new cases if he loses this one. Can Ashley actually afford to lose this ? He must be running up a big bill already Or do NUFC foot the Bill? Whatever the case we need someone to make a decision and not just sit on the fence.
Sadly there are no decision makers around these days, They are all like politicians they skate round the question and never ever give a straight answer.

A boycott will not get rid of Ashley?
How do you know? Has it been tried at Toon? No. It’s a unique club and do not quote other crap clubs who have tried it.
I know that a full house has kept him here 13 years.
A boycott last year forced him to give away 10 k tickets as frees. He was messing himself.
Do not say it will not work until you have tried it. The boycott should continue for as long as it takes.
