Newcastle Issue Brief Statement On Postponement Of Arbitration Until 2022

Newcastle United have confirmed that their pending arbitration case against The Premier League has been postponed until early 2022 after a meeting on Monday.

Here is the full statement from the club:

The parties attended a hearing today in the case between Newcastle United and the Premier League.

The main hearing of the arbitration has regrettably now been adjourned until early 2022 due to issues with the disclosure of evidence.

The parties will be making no further comment at this time.

Newcastle’s arbitration case against the Premier League was supposed to get underway this month. The timeframe of the proceedings could have lasted well into the season. Now this club will remain in limbo almost indefinitely as no firm date for the arbitration has been set.

Mike Ashley has been reluctant to fund Steve Bruce’s summer business with a reported budget of just £10m as he hopes to get the Saudi-backed takeover resurrected. We are starting to fall well behind the rest of the pack in our preparations for the coming campaign.

This is another in an endless string of delays and shenanigans that are threatening this club’s ability to compete in the league. Now that a final decision on this takeover is not likely to happen until near the end of this season, Mike Ashley has to open up his wallet and back this club.

    Where we are at now

A Premiere League club (NUFC) is going to take the PL to court to prove they are corrupt.

The implications of that, the ramifications of that, for the English game, are enormous. It could quite literally break the PL apart. Because all of the skeletons would come out.

DeMarco wouldn’t dare take on that case for his reputation unless he knew a win was a slam dunk.

For information – According to Keith Patterson, arbitration was due to run next couple of weeks and then CAT case starts end of July / beginning of August. Keith always wanted CAT case to be first as many don’t trust the ‘independent’ on the arbitration panel. Believe it or don’t – but this might help some.

    WLG,

Fans have been saying its time for change for years but here we are with the same shit show of a club under the same regime.
We thought this time was the end game for Ashley or the PL.
We should know better by now.

    Disappointed but not suprised.

But because we’re so used to bad news I believe most fans will fight this to the bitter end.

I hope this causes a root and branch overhaul of the league.

There must be some daming evidence. PL were very confident of winning…? And now this?

One side is running scared (it would seem)

I hope its a tactical ploy by nufc to get arb delayed in hope of getting cat case done 1st as that is where most of the corruption scandal is. But then I think why would epl agree of cat case would be worse for them? Difficult to get head round

We have heard the PL were running scared 6 months ago yet they are still at the table. In the meantime the chances of the PIF still being around next year are looking more and more remote.
This arbo is playing right into the PL`s hands imo.

I’m definitely feeling more positive after the announcement, could be its because its real info instead of guesswork or opinion.

Definitely think there’s a wabbit off.

The statement is mild/meek, if the PL was pulling a stroke there’d be more venom in the statement as we’ve witnessed before.

I’ve no clue and I’m speculating on what’s occurring, I fancy a deal is being struck as we type, or atleast the groundwork for a amicable resolution.

I prefer the facts and evidence to speculation but all the roads the Consortium and Ashley have travelled have led to this junction.

All the poking prodding and posturing is over, fights on, not really, they’re plotting a draw outside the ring.

He simply has to spend some money now. All this waiting for the outcome malarkey, he’s had it until early next year, which could be as late as April.

Totally deflated by the announcement, I was beginning to think it was going to happen this month
My only hope (feel free to shoot my tiny bit of optimism down) is that this gives Ash and the PL a chance to cool down and sort something out, away from the courts and before the cat case drags everyone through the mud
I feel stupid for still wanting to feel positive though

Nobody can say whether this makes the PIF more likely to walk away.

A lot of the time when someone perceives they have been treat unfairly they dig their heels in and want it more. This is particularly true in the case of people with large egos and in my opinion the Saudis egos are likely to be as big as they come.
