Ajer To Brentford ‘Complete’ While The Foxes Have Bid Accepted For Another NUFC Target – Report

Last week, Brentford reached an agreement with Celtic over the transfer of Newcastle target Kristoffer Ajer. The Bees’ initial bid of £12m plus add-ons was rejected but they went straight back in offering £13.5m, which was accepted.

Earlier today, Sky Sports reported that the 23-year-old center-back had completed his medical with just a few small details left to iron out.

It appears that everything is now complete with just an announcement pending. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano is claiming that Ajer’s move to Brentford is now done.

Newcastle never officially entered the race for the Norwegian though he was considered Steve Bruce’s preferred option. Celtic were ultimately able to get good value for the unsettled 23-year-old. Newcastle were hoping for a summer steal at half of this fee.

Bruce is hoping to add a young center-back and two midfielders this summer. Joe Willock and Conor Gallagher appear to be his midfielders of choice at the moment. Newcastle are reportedly in discussions with both Arsenal and Chelsea over loan moves.

With Ajer snapped up, Bruce will have to move down his list of center-back targets. Though he could find it difficult with a measly £10m to work with unless Ashley raises the budget.

Recently it was reported that Schalke had reoffered Ozan Kabak back to Liverpool for just £8.5m. The Reds had declined their £18.5m purchase option on the 21-year-old who spent the second half of last season on loan at Anfield.

Now The Sun is reporting that Leicester City have had an £8m bid accepted for Kabak with some final details still to be sorted. That is a tremendous buy for The Foxes if true.

They could take their summer spending close to £50m as they push for Champions League football after two straight fifth-place finishes.

As for Newcastle, Bruce stated on Sunday that there are one or two signings ‘bubbling away’ in addition to Joe Willock. Though he added that nothing is particularly close as the clock ticks down to the start of this season.

Evening fella, i dont think its a secret ive always been very sceptical of this takeover ever being approved, and that is still my view, but to say Mund is defending the turd is simply not true, all our emotions are running high and most of us are at the end of our tether, but there is no point in posting things that are
simply not factually correct mate, i have never seen him defend Ashley ever 22.

Couldn`t care less about Ajer, he might of looked decent in the SPL, but….

We have better at the club already, we need a CMer and a back up striker far more than another CB.
If Ajer does well next season then credit to him but we could well be saying we dodged a bullet too.

    Carltoon,

That’s a difficult one, you could probably make lots of arguments for several different outcomes.

Couple of noticeable things for me.

The statement yesterday was very tame (and short). The club haven’t been shy recently in laying in to the EPL. My opinion therefore would be that the decision was either mutual or that it was the club requesting it.

There’s been a concerted effort (club, Amanda, Mehrdad) over the last few weeks that could be described as collective lobbying to anyone who might listen to try and get the arbitration hearings to be open.

You put those two things together and it kind of paints a picture that they wanted it out in the open, there was a collective effort to get it out in the open.
It didn’t work…..and at the 11th hour it is then delayed.

It looks like an overall strategy is in play here, rather than a last minute hiccup.

I still have no idea how it’ll play out though 🙂

I did mention other day Arsenal might not have to go usa as Inter are pulling out of friendly due to covid in the usa. Looks like Arsenal have their own covid problem

    Aces,

Infections are starting to go up again here (not as bad as the UK)
But you never quite know when that slight uptick turns exponential

Florida is one of the worse affected states

This is an empty shell of a club. Second rate owner, Second rate manager. There isn’t any prospect of any new signings. We cannot compete with Brentford.
The players deserve some credit because the club means something to them, nevertheless they are being conned too.

There can’t be any hiding behind TO uncertainty anymore, action must be taken in the transfer window. In fact they all must have known this was coming so it begs the question of why we are not bringing in reinforcements.

Greatest disappointment last season was Leicester not getting the Champions League spot they deserved.

Not sure if certain other clubs results contributed to that but someone has to snap the cartel.

Just appoint someone else as the Head of the Investment Group and reapply.
Make the Prince non executive Chairman or some other similar position. Ways and means

    EPL can’t stop that.

I can never forget what he said to Chi Onwurah when he asked her would she spend her money on the club. If he would just allow us to run the club on a self sufficiency basis with a clued up manager but naaah not wor Mike.

    Jail,

    I’m guessing here (opinion)

But since the CAT case will have ran (or at least be running)
The evidence in the case of arbitration will essentially be in the public domain.

As I said, I have no idea how this will unfold.
This could be a total panic mode tactic or it could be a genius strategy……I guess the winners get to call the shots.

Bit early for frogs on whiskey surely?

NY, we’ve been hugely conservative over here, which has been hard work, but covid cases are tracking at less than NI and I think we only have 20-25 in ICU. The vaccination programme is one of the best in Europe currently, I think it was number 1 yesterday per head of population. So I don’t think we will have an explosion as bad as our health advisory team have warned, but they are hugely cautious, and have annoyed some. We are just way watching and waiting and hoping. We still can’t eat indoors in pubs and restaurants but we have a good % fully vaccinated and I thínk most via Pfizer, so the confidence in protection is based in a good product. I read somewhere that this is endemic now, not a pandemic. That’s probably very accurate. But thank God for pharmaceutical science, masks and sanitiser, and social distancing, sadly! A sociable Christmas, that’s what we need!
