Ajer To Brentford ‘Complete’ While The Foxes Have Bid Accepted For Another NUFC Target – Report

Last week, Brentford reached an agreement with Celtic over the transfer of Newcastle target Kristoffer Ajer. The Bees’ initial bid of £12m plus add-ons was rejected but they went straight back in offering £13.5m, which was accepted.

Earlier today, Sky Sports reported that the 23-year-old center-back had completed his medical with just a few small details left to iron out.

It appears that everything is now complete with just an announcement pending. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano is claiming that Ajer’s move to Brentford is now done.

Newcastle never officially entered the race for the Norwegian though he was considered Steve Bruce’s preferred option. Celtic were ultimately able to get good value for the unsettled 23-year-old. Newcastle were hoping for a summer steal at half of this fee.

Bruce is hoping to add a young center-back and two midfielders this summer. Joe Willock and Conor Gallagher appear to be his midfielders of choice at the moment. Newcastle are reportedly in discussions with both Arsenal and Chelsea over loan moves.

With Ajer snapped up, Bruce will have to move down his list of center-back targets. Though he could find it difficult with a measly £10m to work with unless Ashley raises the budget.

Recently it was reported that Schalke had reoffered Ozan Kabak back to Liverpool for just £8.5m. The Reds had declined their £18.5m purchase option on the 21-year-old who spent the second half of last season on loan at Anfield.

Now The Sun is reporting that Leicester City have had an £8m bid accepted for Kabak with some final details still to be sorted. That is a tremendous buy for The Foxes if true.

They could take their summer spending close to £50m as they push for Champions League football after two straight fifth-place finishes.

As for Newcastle, Bruce stated on Sunday that there are one or two signings ‘bubbling away’ in addition to Joe Willock. Though he added that nothing is particularly close as the clock ticks down to the start of this season.

    Munster,

I would agree that a cautious approach is probably the best….even if you can do something it doesn’t mean you need/should do.

I just went down the local convenience store a couple hours ago…..I was the only one wearing a mask (including staff)….it’s not required anymore, I just felt more comfortable wearing one.

Here in NY, there is no COVID restrictions anymore. There’s still some mandates that you have to wear a mask on any form of public transport.

And I believe you have to show your vaccination card to get into any large scale events (sports, concerts that kind of thing)

I would feel much more certain that relegation was looming if it wasn’t for Graeme Jones. He is the man we need to hang on to until we have new owners.

Your dirty joke was removed. This is NOT the place for it.

The same goes for everyone else as well. Post your sexually explicit drivel on Twitter or some other venue/platform. But not on this football blog.

The fact that Ashley knows the moves around legal disputes and normally gets what he wants could well be the deciding factor in this never ending saga. Assuming he actually wants to sell.

Almiron, Hendrick, Sean Longstaff, Matty Longstaff, Fraser, Murphy, Hayden, Ritchie, Shelvey, Saint-Maximin and hopefully Willock is 11 midfielders. surely we haven’t got room for any more.

We all know Amanda and co brokered the city deal or had a hand in it

And they all seem so sure this deal is going to go through well in public they are

The longer this saga continues the further behind we fall

When city was taken over they were buying players before the deal was completed
I bet there are rules to stop that now

But not that I am aware are there any rules stopping them investing in the academy and training ground
These are big projects long term better to start as soon as pos rather wait

If they were as confident as they appear would they not have gotten the ball rolling on things and out there money if they know they will own the whole club soon enough

Beermonkey I wish pcp and Reubens would just get a personal 500mill bank loan together and buy club and pay off loan yearly using tv money like Burnley or Man Utd or selling players for huge fees like Atalanta/Leicester do. Im sure fans wont mind as Pcp and reubens should run us properly. Should be able to pay off loan in 5 years

Going to be a tough couple of weeks of nothing happening @NUFC. Everyone find a hobby, or like me start a movie Marathon. I’ve started with Star Wars, seen the 1st 2 now.

Hopefully by the time I’ve finished, there’ll be something to talk about. 🙂

It’s becoming a bit hard not to wonder about the rightness and competency of both sides now, not just the EPL . Is the ODT fit for purpose? But also, is the bid actually up to snuff?

Ashley we know is a chancer. Staveley, all I really know about her is that she’s made money in the financial sector, and that she failed in a bid to buy Liverpool, failed in an initial bid to buy us, got embroiled in a dispute with Barclay’s, went to court and lost, and now this.

Doesn’t fill you with a huge amount of confidence, but I guess we’ll see, if the EPL doesn’t succeed in tying the bid up in the courts and red tape till the consortium and Ashley just give up.

But yeah, I take your point. She’s had some big wins.
