Ajer To Brentford ‘Complete’ While The Foxes Have Bid Accepted For Another NUFC Target – Report

Last week, Brentford reached an agreement with Celtic over the transfer of Newcastle target Kristoffer Ajer. The Bees’ initial bid of £12m plus add-ons was rejected but they went straight back in offering £13.5m, which was accepted.

Earlier today, Sky Sports reported that the 23-year-old center-back had completed his medical with just a few small details left to iron out.

It appears that everything is now complete with just an announcement pending. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano is claiming that Ajer’s move to Brentford is now done.

Newcastle never officially entered the race for the Norwegian though he was considered Steve Bruce’s preferred option. Celtic were ultimately able to get good value for the unsettled 23-year-old. Newcastle were hoping for a summer steal at half of this fee.

Bruce is hoping to add a young center-back and two midfielders this summer. Joe Willock and Conor Gallagher appear to be his midfielders of choice at the moment. Newcastle are reportedly in discussions with both Arsenal and Chelsea over loan moves.

With Ajer snapped up, Bruce will have to move down his list of center-back targets. Though he could find it difficult with a measly £10m to work with unless Ashley raises the budget.

Recently it was reported that Schalke had reoffered Ozan Kabak back to Liverpool for just £8.5m. The Reds had declined their £18.5m purchase option on the 21-year-old who spent the second half of last season on loan at Anfield.

Now The Sun is reporting that Leicester City have had an £8m bid accepted for Kabak with some final details still to be sorted. That is a tremendous buy for The Foxes if true.

They could take their summer spending close to £50m as they push for Champions League football after two straight fifth-place finishes.

As for Newcastle, Bruce stated on Sunday that there are one or two signings ‘bubbling away’ in addition to Joe Willock. Though he added that nothing is particularly close as the clock ticks down to the start of this season.

I get the feeling he is still out there lurking. Aren’t you Tsunki?!!!

To the lurking Tsunki: come on back lad! The Forward guard, camp Harrison has lost a mate: their ‘Masters’Sergeant named Sgt Imminent Takeover, has lost his long battle with naïveté. 🙁

Surprised Townsend said that. I always thought he enjoyed his time here. Oh well! He’ll do well as a sub at Everton perhaps. Or maybe even a starter if he’s lucky? It’ll be interesting to see who else Rafa goes for.

Has anyone else on the East Coast had air quality issues today? Never seen them issue an alert on my phone before to flag it, but it’s been telling me for most of the day that the PM 2.5 levels have been high.

Plus the sun was an insane orange/red colour as it was setting tonight. I wonder if the two things were linked somehow?

Looking at the air quality map it appears not to have been so bad in North Carolina, but New York seemed to have been affected in a similar way.

Apparently it’s to do with very small particles that can enter your lungs and cause breathing difficulties. I always thought living in the future would be fun with hover cars and stuff, but it’s actually a bit rubbish.

I watched too many Gerry Anderson shows growing up it would seem 🙂

You can definitely see the Saudi’s bidding for an Italian club if they get fed up of all this.
Haven’t they bought the rights to Serie A too? Investing in an Italian side would seem the logical progression, if they’re blocked by the EPL.

Hope they see out the CAT case first.

Kabak and Ajer will probably end up good because Leicester and Brentford have good scouting systems, and recoup whatever they spend by selling the players for far higher prices later. I don’t know why we don’t spend some small change on getting good scouts or doing moneyball like Brentford. Our scouts are probably used to work at the club canteen and got promoted to scout because they’d been around a while and seemed loyal and always gave Charnley extra gravy.

Fans attending sports venues with capacities of about 20,000 or more may be required to show proof of full vaccination from the end of September, under plans being considered by the government.

Wonder if Ashley will restrict admission to 19 999 to avoid extra steward costs.

The worst thing about signing Leicester’s 10th choice midfielder, Choudhury, is that he’s actually a lot better than our midfielders.

Cricket! When a player is picked to play for England, does he ever play for his own team during the season, or just for England?

Carltoon, they have an international contract. They do play for their county teams when available, but generally between all of the short format tournaments and the internationals they hardly play for their county teams at all.

For example I know Jos Buttler hasn’t played for Lancashire for like 10 years because he is always wanted in the short format tournaments

Carltoon, I’ve gotten into cricket over the last few years amongst other sports as football has turned into a bunch of premadonnas rolling around all over the place and Newcastle generally aren’t very good at it!

T20s are good. The tension just builds and builds as the match goes on.

I don’t mean this accusingly in any way. I just wondered if you find it therapeutic putting acrooss your negativity during the time you spend on here? Is this you just with NUFC, or is this your general demeanour in all aspects of your life?

I freely admit NUFC probably accounts for at least 70% of my depression. However, I struggle to empathise with the extremes you take it to when everything seems so repetitively dark and hopeless.

I apppreciate that is the reality of the situation we face but I don’t get the need to constantly repeat exactly the same thing daily as if we didn’t hear you the first time, all those years ago. Maybe you could enlighten me as to why that is and let me know if your raison d’etre is ever likely to assume a more optimistic vision and when that may be likely to happen.

Test cricket can be deadly. For example England’s openers Burns and Sibley are stupefyingly boring to watch. 2 out and out blockers with no shots whatsoever.
You get more runs in 5 overs of t20 than a whole session of test cricket.
Great match last night. I had taped it but then saw Jail’s comment about it shaping up to be exciting so didn’t know what to expect but he wasn’t wrong.
