There’s some concerning news surfacing that Newcastle could be set to lose 16-year-old Bobby Clark to Liverpool. This was reported as an exclusive by Rising Ballers on Twitter earlier today.

The Mail’s Simon Jones is now reporting that Liverpool are winning the race for the young attacking midfielder, who is the son of former Magpie Lee Clark. According to Jones, Liverpool are battling Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham for Clark’s signature.
This is distressing news as these reports seem to infer that Newcastle don’t stand much of a chance to retain one of our brightest young prospects – and one with local ties to boot.
Clark made his debut for the Newcastle U18s in September of 2019 at just 14. He is part of the England set-up having been called up to the U16s this past April. Recently, his father rubbished claims that the youngster was offered to Tottenham, only to be turned down by Spurs.
This will be a bitter blow to lose another promising youngster before he barely even gets started at Newcastle. In 2015, Liverpool signed Luis Longstaff (no relation to Sean or Matty) from our Academy and two years later Newcastle were forced to sell Lewis Gibson to Everton as he wouldn’t sign a new contract.
Newcastle have shaken up the Academy on a few occasions over the past few years. This summer Steve Harper was named Academy manager after the club released over a dozen youngsters.
We now look on the brink of losing one of our top young prospects to a club overflowing with Academy talent. Here’s a BBC video clip of Clark competing in the Wonderkid Challenge last year.
